A/N: I think this speaks for itself, but please review! Snape's POV but not spoken in first person. I hope it's not hard to follow. Moves pretty fast.

It's a dull day with a sky that threatens rain.

You hope it doesn't rain.

That would spoil all of their fun, wouldn't it?

You are held firmly by the bonds and escorted through the crowds.

Approaching your fate, your beautiful salvation, you smile indolently.

Always knowing it would come to this.

One last look around.

To see faces - some jubilant, some saddened, some indifferent.

They believe justice has been served.

Justice. What a joke.

Turning round, offering your wrists, they bind you to the stake.

Joined to the wooden stake by your arms and ankles.

And you wonder idly if Christ felt the same way.

It's ironic.

He died and went down in history as a hero for mankind.

You'll die and go down in history as the bane of their existence.

But both of you are the same in the respect that you each gave your life to save others.

Your ears are suddenly filled.

With the melodious crackling of flames as they spread around you.

This is it. No turning back.

You risk one last glance at the crowd before your feet are engulfed in flame.

Strange how we so often wish for things to have been different.

But there's no more hope for this world in which you've lived.

And as the flames rise, the stinging, searing pain overwhelms your senses.

You try your hardest to stay conscious, to experience the raw feeling of the elements one last time.

A dying man's last wish.

But as you slip into the darkness eternal, you see your life flash before you - things done and things left undone.

Regret. Fear. Longing. All gone in a fleeting instant.

Morpheus at least granted you that.

Burned at the stake - how mockingly traditional.

Becoming a legend was never your goal.

But if you can't be famous.

.be infamous.

At least in death, they will know who you were.

Maybe then they won't be so quick to judge.

Always fearing what they don't know.

Always hating what they can't understand.

A/N: Please Review! I hope the story was understandable - not too vague, was it?
