He speaks. She laughs, for the first time in a long while, and the Chieftain and Chieftess were not there to see it. For this was a moment shared by two.
A young owl perches on his shoulder. Not Arc, but it will do. Oh yes, it will do. Its antics please her, and she laughs again.
They talk more, at length, carefree. Evil is not gone, but for the moment, it is defeated. And for the moment, that is enough.
As they live the moment, she thinks. Her parents would not approve. Somehow, she finds this amusing and smiles again. The two could grow somber, but they do not. They do not want to.
She opens her mouth and her voice rises in joyous abandon. He lifts his flute and the notes rise into the air, matching her voice.
They are together.
