Answer: All of the above.
AN: This is just pure Inuyasha fluffy . . . Very similar to another story I've written for the Anime, Slayers.
Watching You
The entire group had already eaten their fill of the dinner Kagome had made. Patting their bellies contently they settled out comfortably in Kaede's hut to get a good night's rest, something they hadn't done in a while.
Sango, was a considerable distance from Miroku. Who was, incidentally sitting dejectedly in a corner on top of his folded sleeping bag, staring longingly at her. Shippou was cheerfully helping Kagome set down the sleeping bag she had brought from the future, along with some for her newfound friends. Kaede was visiting a neighboring village and was absent from the comfortable environment. Kagome, looking around curiously looked towards Miroku,
"Hey, have you seen Inuyasha?"
The monk's hand, which had been creeping slowly towards Sango's backside retracted quickly as he shook his head vigorously.
"I haven't seen him since we got back into the village."
Kagome walked to the door and stared outside, glancing towards the setting sun she shook her head and sighed softly. Sango looked up and raised her eyebrow towards the young girl.
"Something wrong Kagome?"
"It's just that, well tonight is the new moon"
"Oh!"
Scoffing as he took his place in his sleeping bag Miroku spoke.
"Inuyasha can take care of himself, let's get some sleep now ladies."
Sango nodded in agreement
"Yea Kagome, he's strong as a human too, don't worry."
Shippou bounded into Kagome's arms and smiled, hugging her he nuzzled into her neck and said,
"Let dog man take care of himself, I'm tired Kagome"
So, with one more fleeting look towards the forest, Kagome nodded and slipped quietly into her sleeping bag, eyes closing while her thoughts were still on the Inu Hanyou. Night came, the sky grew dark without the light of the moon and so a dark figure was free to creep through the village towards Kaede's hut, his footsteps light enough that they didn't stir Miroku when they walked past him, or Sango when they crept over her. The figure silently knelt down before Kagome and smiled inwardly.
"Stupid wench, you should know that I can take good care of my own self."
His eyes softened as he inhaled her sweet scent, so different from that of the humans in his time. His time, yes, this wasn't her place. But he so frequently forced her to stay here and keep her from her tests. Sometimes he would accuse her of making them up just to get away from him. But he knew, he knew the hours she spent studying when she was finally allowed to go home. He had seen her fall asleep at her desk and tucked her in whenever she did. He had followed her to school, seen her talking to that Hobo guy. And he had watched her take her tests and known that they were real. Hitting himself on the forehead he cursed softly, asking himself why he kept her from going back.
"Because you know want her to stay with you." An inner voice said.
He bent his dark haired head towards the sleeping figure, resting his forehead upon hers lightly. Why was it that he could express himself better when he was a human? The demon in him would deny it, but he truly did need Kagome. He fought better when she was there, he felt better when she was there. When she was gone he would follow her, or mope, or sleep until she arrived. His eyes grew wide with some sort of possessive joy as he heard her mumble his name in her sleep, and he knelt down, placing a warm kiss on her lips before he whispered to her.
"Sleep well my Kagome, My love"
Opening her eyes a little Kagome whispered softly.
"Goodbye Inuyasha."
