A/N: All right, I wrote this a few days ago, but ffn was being stupid and wouldn't let me post it...it's really short, but I thought it was cute ^_^ and don't even ask me where I got the idea...I haven't a single clue. Maybe it was the spider in my shower that morning o.0;;

Title: Down Came The Rain

Rating: G

Disclaimer: I don't own Jareth...but I own Alahnna! yay!

Jareth loomed over the small being, an evil glint in his mismatched eyes. He chuckled, the sound menacing as it rumbled in his chest, "are you afraid of me, little one?" His voice smooth and cruel, tone mocking. He seemed amused as he straightened to his full height once more, pulling black leather gloves from the air and casually slipping them over his hands, peering down his nose at the being.

"What you should be is grateful." He speaks finally, a slow smirk pulling at his thin lips, "grateful because I saved your life...whatever little of it there was." He pauses, crossing his arms in front of his chest, "she wanted to kill you, you know..." glancing back briefly at the teenaged girl behind him, "*I* saved you...for the time being anyway..." another menacing chuckle passed his lips, "soon you will be dead...soon, because we all die sometime." sneering, "You just seemed to have found yourself in a dreadful situation...you're every movement will decide your fate."

Jareth moves finally, booted feet clicking dully on the stone ground, circling the object of his attention slowly, intimidation radiating off of him in waves. "I don't think you understand the chance I have given you, child...you have every oppurtunity to run...every chance to get away..."

The little being took several steps towards Jareth, but halted just as Jareth stopped talking because he took notice, "You are a bold creature aren't you?" Jareth scowled, "you don't seem to be taking this chance I have given you...you would rather meet your demise than live a free life. Very well, I was willing to let fate decide your future, but you just decided it on your own..."

"Eww! Dad, just kill it!"

Jareth paused in his speech as the teenager behind him spoke, turning to look at her he grinned, "Darling, it's just a spider."

The girl flushed angrily, grasping tightly onto the back of the chair she was standing on and quickly gathering the end of her long skirt as it threatened to fall to the ground, "I know that! It's disgusting...kill it!"

Jareth laughed lightly, the sound no longer menacing but still amused. He peered down at the spider and pulled a paper tissue out of thin air, stooping down to smash it...quickly and painlessly, he mused. His daughter sighed behind him, partly with relief and partly still with irritation, "you are such a freak, Dad...talking to the spider." but she grinned despite herself.

Jareth once more put on his goblin king mask, moving slowly towards his daughter, "I have been generous up until now, Alahnna...but I can be cruel"

Alahnna wrinkled her nose and giggled, "yeah, whatever..." laughing a bit.

Jareth smiled, the smashed spider disappearing from his hand as he moved towards the bedroom door, "Goodnight Princess." tone loving.

"night Dad..." the teenager dragging a hand through her wild blond hair and glancing nervously around the floor before stepping down from the chair. Jareth smirked as he watched her and then shook his head as he exited the room...how did he ever manage to have a daughter that was afraid of a little thing like a spider? I'll never understand women, he mused.
