Chiana rushed about the room, checking off the mental list of everything they had for their meal. Fried chicken, barbeque ribs, potato-salad, baked beans.and yes.the bread. Studying the fare on the table she shook her head. Humans! They have such a diversity of foodstuff, and this is all they wanted to serve at the pickernicker.
"Auntie Chi, has the Colonial delivered what we ordered?" Aeryanna skipped into the room.
"Yeah.but are you sure this is all you want for the pickernicker?"
Giggling, the little girl climbed onto the chair at the table and looked at the spread. "That's picnic, and yeah. Mommy said that Daddy wanted something from the Colonial but Grandpa wouldn't stop."
"Okay everything is ready so where's your father and grandpa?"
"Aunt Livi and Uncle Thomas are bringing them home. Mommy, is laying down she said she's tired."
"I would be too, if I was that large." Chiana chucked as she took out the coleslaw from the refrigerator.
"Auntie Chi, will Uncle D'Argo be coming down?"
"Yeah, why?"
"He's a Daddy too, right?"
"Yeah, so you want him to join in the celebration?" Chiana sit the coleslaw container down with a spoon beside it. "Nice. Where's Ian?"
"Getting Daddy's surprise out."
"What do you mean out? What is he planning to do with it?"
"I don't know. I told him to leave it along.but when do little brothers listen. It must be a guy thing.hearing only what they want to hear."
Laughing, Chiana strolled toward the living area when she heard a loud crash and a cry of pain. Aeryanna rolled her eyes; she started to pick at the chicken again.
"Aeryanna, leave that chicken along. Come and help me with Ian." Chiana said rushing out of the room.
Sitting in the middle of the room Ian was wrapped in the fishing-line. A broken vase lay across from him. Looking up guiltily he mumbled out. " I just wanted to see if it worked."
"Well, I think it does. It caught you."
Aeryanna snickered. "Yeah, Grandpa said you have to throw the little ones back. That means I can trade you in for something else."
Angrily Ian tried to get loose.
"Daddy want let you.smart-alecky.ouch.ouch.Auntie Chi the hook.it hurts. " He cried in distress.
Aeryn stood at the head of the stairs, shaking her head as she started down. "Ian, what are you doing with your father's gift?"
"Nothing, Mommy," Ian whimpered. "I was just making sure it worked.ouch."
"Chi, just get a knife and cut him loose." Aeryn said exasperated.
"But what about the line.the pole want work without one."
"Well, Ian will just have to get another for his father."
"But, Mommy."
"Hurry, Chi, before John and Jack get home."
Aeryn turned her steely gaze back on Ian, causing the little boy to grow quiet "You will stop that whining. and you'll pay for a new line." Looking down at the broken vase. "And you will apologize to your grandfather for breaking his things. Do you understand?"
"Yes, ma'am."
Chiana came back out with a knife when a voice spoke from the entranceway.
"Wow. A fishing pole and by the look of it .it really works .I mean it did catch one little boy."
Everyone turned in the direction of the door. John stood just inside the room with Jack, D'Argo and the others behind him.
Jumping up Aeryanna shouted out. "HAPPY DADDY'S DAY!!!"
