dis: Tolkien world, etc. belongs to him, no harm intended.
The forest was a deep dark place. The sound of small woodland animals couldn't be heard. There were no birds in the trees, there were no squirrels foraging in the leaves. There was just silence, drab and foreboding. A flash disturbed nothing but the leaves and all it left was a girl.
Mary-Sue opened her eyes slowly. It was dark, where was she? Moments ago she had been in her bed, how could she have ended up here. Where was here anyway? Suddenly Mary-Sue remembered, she had been watching the Lord of the Rings movie, she loved that film. She pulled out a mirror. Looking at her long blonde hair, and her ears, she gasped, she was sure she wasn't a beautiful elf when she had gone to sleep.
Mary-Sue peered around the forest, oh, this is just like a fairy tale. If I sit here and wait some princely elf will rescue me and...oh! What good fortune, she thought. She began to search the area, there was no sign of a settlement...or palace close. Oh well, how big could Mirkwood /possibly/ be? She thought, proud with herself that she had remembered the name of the forest that she must be in.
Mary-Sue had done some deduction work, this couldn't be Lothlorien because it was too dark and there were /no/ other forests in Middle-Earth.
She thought for a moment, was there something in the shadows? She was sure she'd heard something. It must be her imagination, she dismissed it.
The spider looked on in anticipation, it was so convenient in Mirkwood these days, random girls kept dropping into it all of the time. There was no more need to worry about having to fight elves to get a good dinner, these things were great. The spider prepared to launch his attack, and then he did.

Legolas was passing through the forest, he was on his way to Imladris, such a shame they'd lost Gollum. He'd passed too close to a spider web earlier, there'd been the bones of some poor soul. The elves at the elvenking's halls had been pondering over who the spiders were eating, they wouldn't touch orc and there
were no elves missing. They hadn't had any elves lost in well over a year. The spiders seemed to be constantly full, how strange, they were certainly eating something.
Legolas mentally shrugged and continued to ride.
