Free
by Goddess Of Anime
Rating: PG-13 For some swearing and human contact.
Catagories: Romance and drama. I think that'll do.Not sure how much of each are in.
Disclaimer: I don't own any Yu-Gi-Oh character. So don't sue me. If you do, all you'll get is a sketchbook that is nearly empty, some lint, and one Shonen Jump issue. Not worth doing. And I'll hide them where you'll never think to look in!
Charactors: I'm going to use some of the Japanese names because I can and some of them are shorter than the English ones.
Mai
Jonou (short for Jonouchi which is Japanese for Joey)
Honda (Tristen)
Yugi
These are vitally the most important ones

Me: A new fic! And just in time for summer! First shot at a Mai/Jonou fic. One shot pairing. Never going to be done again.
Bakura: No more torture for me.
Yami: I'm barely mentioned. *jumps for joy*
Me: *backs off* Ooooookaaaaayyyyyyy. Scared authress here. Enjoy "Free".

Spoiler: No deaths what so ever.
A/N: The plot is half-formed, so bear with me when a chapter or two is crappy. And if you want to get a feel of what my writing style now is, read "Missed" and "Secrets".
Chapter 1. Yellow Rose
Mai groaned, yet another Valentine's day. Every time this time of year came, she got a red rose. A red symbolizes passion. What she really wanted was a yellow rose; symbolizing friendship.
After school, she checked her mailbox, crammed with red roses attached to letters. A bright color poped out amongst them. She grabbed all of them, opening the door with diffactily. Mai frowned at all of them. She threw them out, except for one.
She handled the yellow rose carefully, smiling brightly. She contained herself to not jump straight through the ceiling and scream.
She flipped her blond hair over her shoulder with glee, her eyes sparkled with enjoyment. Her cell phone rang. The ring was the tune of "Hungarian Dances".
Mai: Hello?
Luis: Mai?
Mai: Yes Luis?
Luis: I think we shouldn't see each other anymore.
Mai: You bastard. You're breaking up with me over the PHONE?
Luis: Um, yeah.
Mai:: Listen hun, you don't deserve me, so fuck off.
Mai snapped her phone closed furiously. She couldn't believe that she ever liked him. But glancing back at the rose, she felt better. Mai slowly walked upstairs, changing into a pair of denim pants and black shirt. At times like these, mini skirts were unbearable.
She slipped on white flipflops, not planning to go outside. She fixed herself a sandwhich, taking a big bite. The door-bell rang, then again, and again. She groaned, walking towards the door, her shoes slapped across the wood floor.
She slammed the door open, ready to shout at whoever came by. "Oh. Hello Jonou," she said, quite surprised. He thrust a book into her hands, walking off. Mai closed the door softly, looking at the title. She could've sworn that Jonou blushed.
"Romeo and Juliet," she said softly. It was her favorite. She gently placed it on the table, promising to read it later. She went back to her sandwhich, trying to figure out what to do with the free time on her hands.
Me: Okay. More mild than Missed or Secrets, but I kinda like it so far. So drop off a review, flames ARE welcome. Of course, reviews and constructive flames (if any sent) are preferred. Thank you for whoever read this. Ciao!
