*She said we're much too different*

*We're from two seperate worlds*

*And he admitted, she was partly right*

Max nodded his head as though he understood. But he didn't understand. Would never understand. Liz's beautiful brown eyes looked right back at him, but he got the distinct feeling she wasn't seeing him. Not really. If she were she would never be able to do this. They were meant to be together. Soulmates.

*In his heart's defense he told her*

*What they had in common*

*Was strong enough to bond them for life*

Max knew Liz loved him. Knew she always would. But he also knew what she was saying was true. They weren't the same. Never would be. But they weren't totally different.

*He said look inside your own soul*

*And the person that you see*

*Just might remind you of me*

*I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry*

"That doesn't make us the same." She stated plainly.

*And I know you do the same things too*

*So we're really not that different*

*Me and you*

Without waiting for a reply, she shut the door in his face. He would never know how hard that had been for her. She just wanted someone...different.

*Now she could hardly argue*

*With his pure and simple logic*

But logic, never could convince a heart*

Liz slumped to the floor, her back still pressed into the door. Tears fell from her eyes, but she knew what she had done was for the best. She needed somebody normal. Somebody....human.

*She had always dreamed of loving*

*Someone more exotic*

*And he just didn't seem to fit the part*

*Liz wiped the tears from her eyes and pushed herself up off the floor. Max Evans wasn't the only guy in Roswell. She could find someone else. Would find someone else.

*So she searched for greener pastures*

*But never could forget*

*What he whispered when she left*

*I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry*

*And I know you do the same things too*

*So we're really not that different*

*Me and you*

Liz stood in front of Max's house. It had ony been two days. Two days holed up in her room crying. She raised her fist to the door. The knock was deafening.

*Was it time*

*Was it truth*

*Maybe both led her back to his door*

He opened the door, his eyes red from crying. He froze when he saw her standing there. He could tell she had been crying.

*As her tears fell at his feet*

*She didn't say I love you*

*What she said meant even more*

She felt her knees buckle and she fell to the ground before him. She softly whispered the words he had spoken before.

*I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry*

*And I know you do the same things too*

*So we're really not that different*

He knelt down beside her and wrapped his arms around her. He would never let her get away again. He knew they were meant to be together forever. Soulmates.

*Me and You*

"And when he gets to heaven

To Saint Peter he will tell-

One more soldier reporting, sir

I've served my time in hell."
