Author: Rachel (a.k.a. the purple fuzzy)
Disclaimer: Diana belongs to Silver Phoenix, Harry and the gang belong to J.K. Rowling, and I own . . what do I own?
A/N: This fic was inspired by the wonderful story "Perfect World" by the talented author Silver Phoenix. If you have never read her story, then what the heck are you waiting for?!? This story won't make much sense unless you read her story first (and the magnificent one before it titled "Bury The Hatchet") - although the comments about "The Trio" could be made by anyone.
Summary: Diana Drago relects on the relationship of the "trio" and how it compares to her own life.
They're together again. The three of them, standing together and laughing. They have many names: the "dream team," the "boy-who-lived and his sidekicks," or even just "the trio." They've always been together - through rain or shine, year after year, battle after battle. They're famous without even trying to be.
It's quite disgusting really, how they finish each others' sentences, or communicate without words. One of them calls, and the others come running, without a second thought to what they were doing before . .
There they go, laughing again. I don't know what they could possibly find so amusing when the world is in such turmoil. One of their own is threatened with her life if we can't find those scrolls, yet they continue to laugh as if they had no worries.
They are considered to be heroes, and they are. Their courageous acts have saved the wizarding world, and given hope to many. Some believe that their unselfish acts are really a desperate cry for attention, but it isn't true. When you really get to know them, you find that they are all exactly how you would hope they were - polite, caring, kind, courageous, unselfish, and, most importantly, humble.
If there had been someone else to step forward to defeat the Dark Lord, they would have let them. Indeed, each of them would have given up all their fame and glory for a "normal" life. But they do what they have to do, and it is through no fault of their own that they are a good at it.
I can't stand to be around them. When they are together they become one. Inseparable. Bound together by a bond that no spell could ever break. It is because they are so perfect that I hide away in this dark corner. I am not like them, and will never be one of them. My past has made me who I am, and it is far different from them. Where they are pure, I am ugly. Where they are light, I am dark. Where they are good, I am tainted by my father's actions. No, I will never be like them.
A movement catches my eye, and I see my partner scanning the room. He sees me, and smiles, then motions for me to join them.
I cannot join them. I shake my head and slink further into the darkness. Something flashes in his eyes - it almost looks like disappointment - and he slowly turns back to his friends.
In that moment, I suddenly understand. It's not them that I can't stand to be around.
It's me.
End A/N: There you have it. Kind of pointless, but I couldn't get it out of my head. I hope you enjoyed it. I am not as talented at asking for reviews as Silver Phoenix (her review songs are amazing!), so I guess I'll just ask. Please Review?
