Author's Note: Just a little story I came up with. For those of you who like to be nitpicky and whatnot, yes, I know Harry Potter and Dudley are both fiction, but so is this story. And no, Dudley has never heard of the Harry Potter books because he doesn't read. Ever. Oh yea, by the way… the 'Err err' stuff is supposed to be his alarm clock, lol.
Disclaimer: Nothing belongs to me. Zero. Zilch. Nothing at all. It belongs to JK Rowling, and Bloomsbury and Scholastic… and the Fed Ex people…
Err, err err errIt was 3:30 and it was time for Dudley Dursley to get up and go to work at the post office. He was told that he would be making deliveries today, and there were a lot of them, but what it was, he didn't know. He was pretty sure it was some book, but really, why would tons of people be ordering books?
After he got dressed and grabbed some toast, he got into his car and left. His parents were very disappointed in him for dropping out, and he had a feeling they might even be more proud of his cousin Harry right now, doing good in whatever he's been doing in that stupid wizarding world.
"Today is June 21st, 2003, and it looks like it's going to be a good one, which is excellent for the many people flocking out to purchase J.K. Rowling's new book, Harry…"
Dudley turned off the radio. He didn't want to hear about this new book, because there was no doubt that it was the one he would have to spend all day delivering.
"Hairy?" he said to himself. "What's so great about a book that's about something hairy?!?" frustrated, he pulled into the parking lot at the post office.
"Ok, where are these books I'm going to be delivering today?"
"Ahh, there you are, Mr. Dursley. These Harry Potter books…" the postal worker started to say, but Dudley cut him off.
"What did you say? Books about who?"
"Harry Potter. You've never heard of them? It's the best selling book right now, and it only came out today."
""Let me see this," he said, grabbing on of the boxes and tearing it open. Dudley stumbled backward a little bit, because staring back at him on the cover of the book was his cousin Harry's face… "No! It can't be, no… no…"
Err, err err err…And then, Dudley woke up. Half asleep, he walked to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, and let out a sigh of relief. 'That's silly,' he thought to himself, 'why would anyone want to write about the life of Harry Potter?' Quietly chuckling to himself, he walked downstairs, grabbed some toast and got in the car. Turning on the radio, he heard the familiar voice of the radio man…
"Today is June 21st, 2003, and it looks like it's going to be a good one, which is excellent for the many people flocking out to purchase J.K. Rowling's new book, Harry…"
Dudley slammed on the brakes and nearly fainted.
"This can't be happening…"
A/N: Yes, I know, very short… but I only wrote it to hopefully entertain you as you all anxiously wait for the book to be officially released tonight. Please don't ask me to make it longer, because I won't… I need to update another fic, lol.
