The Speech - An Albus Monologue
The floor was littered with crumpled pieces of parchment. An empty box of Sugar Quills toppled dangerously on top of the large pile of books placed hazardously on the antique desk. The clear blue eyes of the elderly Albus Dumbledore were scanning the parchment with an expert eye. Seemingly satisfied, his lips quirked into a smile. He turned into the fire glowing green with the head of a handsome man floating in the flames and said.
"Thank you, Rupert. I believe that last bit was exactly what I needed for this speech. Miss Summers certainly does have quite a way with words." "You are most welcome Mr. Dumbledore, it was my pleasure."
And with a pop the head was gone.
Returning to his parchment, Dumbledore read:
In this room, at this time, you are no longer the son of a death eater, the smartest witch of your age, the conqueror of the darkest wizard, or an ex- convict.
You are no longer the children of a family poor in spirit; you are no longer wrongly accused of a monster within.
You are no longer an old school rival, or a mysterious Slytherin chameleon.
You are no longer the youngest, or the brightest, or the greatest.
The pride of Gryffindors, the ego of Slytherins, the cautiousness of Ravenclaws, and the trust of Hufflepuffs must be put aside.
Your titles have been stripped, your surnames extinct, you are but yourself.
Alone and scared.
And you have every right to be scared. It would be foolish not to be.
Bravery is not the absence of fear, but continuing your journey in spite of it.
And continue we must.
You are right. We do not know how to fight it. We do not know when it will come.
We cannot run, cannot hide, and we most certainly cannot pretend that it is not the end, because it is.
There will always be a Dark Lord there to try and destroy the world. We have beaten them back, but we are not dealing with them anymore. We are dealing with the reason they exist.
Evil.
The strongest.
I am beyond tired.
I am beyond scared.
I am standing on the mouth of hell, and it is going swallow me whole.
And it will choke on me.
We are not ready? Voldemort is not ready.
He thinks we are going wait for the end to come, like we always do.
I am done waiting.
He wants an apocalypse? Oh, we most certainly will supply him with one.
Anyone else who wants to run, do it now. Because we just became an army.
We just declared war.
From now on we will not just face our worst fears we will seek them out.
We will find them, and cut out their hearts one by one, until Voldemort shows himself for what he really is.
And we will kill him.
We, as in us, the Order of the Phoenix.
This is not the time nor place for foolish personal vendettas, we work together as one.
To match their chaos, we will be order.
One voice, one band of wizards and witches.
Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus? A worthy motto of the Four Founders, yes.
Not for us however. Our mission statement?
Carpe Diem.
Seize the day.
There is only one thing on this earth more powerful than evil, and that is us.
Any questions?
