I am excited to hear what people think of my first story.
Odin sat calmly and patiently as he waited for his mother as she was gathering his spell books for today's lesson. Today, Odin was going to be learning about Thestrals which are like horses except they have white, transparent skin which has a texture like reptiles, piercingly red eyes, and black wings.
"Odin, I have something to tell you before we start," Mrs. Gates told her son as she entered class-like room, " this fall you will be schooling at Hogwarts."
"That's wonderful! But why?"
" Since you are entering your fifth year of schooling, I think you should go to a real school and meet people your own age. Also, I need you to go to school so that you can take your O.W.L.'s and N.E.W.T.'s properly and to give you a bit of a challenge since I know you are so smart." Mrs. Gates explained.
After their lesson of Thestrals, Odin sprinted for his room and started packing for Hogwarts, which he will be attending in less than a week. He packed everything that he thought he could possibly need. By the time he was done, his trunk was over-filling with all of his textbooks. He struggled to get his trunk to close and after he got it closed, he sat on it with great relief while he looked at his reflection in his mirror at his disgruntled face. He saw a pair of calm blue eyes staring back at him in front of dark brown locks of well-kept hair. He distorted his face into a frown as he noticed that he didn't have a well-built body, but as he stood up, he began to smile as he realized that he towered over most of his belongings and his fairly tall shelves.

Odin arrived at his new school full of excitement and awe. Professor McGonagall stood at the top of the grand staircase in the Entrance Hall waiting with the sorting hat for the first years and new arrivals. When the students appeared in the Entrance Hall Professor McGonagall led them into the Great Hall and up near the staff table.
After the annual song from the Sorting Hat, students were called up one at a time to be sorted. Odin was surprisingly first. When he heard his name called out his stomach lurched with anxiety. He walked toward the hat slowly with a great nervousness. When he reached the Sorting Hat, he sat down on a little wooden stool as McGonagall put the hat on his head for it to sort Odin.
"Right, then. Right, but where to put you? I see you are very wise like Ravenclaw, but I see great bravery like Gryffindor. I see a tremendous thirst for a challenge in both the mind and body. So I think you should be in. GRYFFINDOR!" The Sorting Hat stated.
He was somewhat disappointed as he had wanted to be in Ravenclaw, but after he had thought about the hat's decision, he realized that it wasn't so bad. He slowly walked toward the Gryffindor table while looking for a place to sit. He had found his seat next to Harry and Hermione with Ron next to Harry.
After everyone was sorted, they took their seats as they waited for their first feast of the term. When Professor Dumbledore finished his start- of-the-year speech, their golden plates sprang to life with food.
