Just Someone I Use To Know
I don't own the "Just Someone I Use To Know" sung by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagner, nor Sailor Moon.
"Mommy, do you have any money," asked a little girl with long brown hair.
Her mother turned, her flowing black hair pulled back into a loose braid. Her violet eyes narrowed a bit in a suspcious way.
"Why," she asked.
The little girl, no more than ten, toed the kitchen floor nervously. "There's a bookfair tomorrow, and I wanted to get something..."
The woman with the violet eyes smiled kindly at her daughter. She picked up the towel, dried off her hands and walked to the living room. She picked up her purse, and took out her wallet and then sat her purse back down. She then opened her wallet up to get the money out when a small plastic picture holder dropped out and fell to the floor.
The child, having following her mother to the living room, bent down to pick it up.
The child held the pictures and stared at the first one. Looking up at her mother, she asked, "Is this you?"
The woman sat down, gently taking the photo from her daughter. Tears stung at her eyes, as she smiled. "Yeah, it is. I was about eighteen when this was taken."
The girl had moved to lean on the chair's arm, as too see the photo again.
"Who's in the picture with you," she asked, pointing to the girl next to her mother that had long, blonde pigtails with buns atop her head.
The woman smiled more.
"Just someone I used to know..."
~There's a picture that I carry
One we made some time ago
When they ask who's in the picture with me
I say "Just someone I use to know" ~
The child smiled a bit, interested in her mother's past.
"Oh? Was she your friend?"
The mother smiled. "Oh yes. She was my dearest friend in the entire world."
The girl smiled more and climbed up into her mother's lap. "Tell me more."
The woman wrapped ehr arm around the child, relaxing in her chair.
"We had been friend since we were fouteen." The woman chuckled. "It was quite funny because we fought most of the time. You'd think we were a couple."
The child looked up at her mother. "Were you?"
The woman turned her face, wiping her eyes and sniffling slightly before turning back to face the photo.
"At one point, yes, we were."
~Just someone, I used to spend some time with
Just a flame, that's lost its glow
But I don't them of the nights I cried without you
I say "Just someone I use to know" ~
"What happened," the little girl asked, laying her head on her mother's shoulder.
"We just drifted apart," she replied with a soft sigh.
"Why?"
The woman shrugged a bit. "We just did. We began dating at the end of eleventh year of high school then broke up half way thru our twelfth year. Then when we graduated, she married an old boy friend of her's."
"Is that why you divorced Daddy?"
The woman sighed. "It wasn't fair to your father to be with someone who would never love him as much as he loved them. Its never fair.."
The girl nodded. "Do you still love this girl?"
The woman smiled and kissed her daughter's head. "I always have."
She then gently nudged her daughter off her lap. "Did you finish your homework?"
The girl smiled impishly. The woman smirked, handed ehr some money and the child scampered off into her bed room, yelling her thanks.
The woman then turned back to the faded and worn picture, her smiled fading.
"No one will ever know, Usagi, just how much I still love and miss you...."
~Just someone, I use to run around with
Just a friend from long ago
I don't tell them, how lost I am without you
I say "Just someone I use to know"
