I've always felt… since I was small… that I was different from the others.

Special, in some way.

But… NOT LIKE THIS.

i am not a monster.

The books.

They breathe.

They speak to me.

At first, the words they spoke… they hurt. They gnawed, and they bit, and my mind ached when I heard them. They were wrong. They couldn't possibly be right.

I am human. I am normal. I am SOLDIER.

But as time went on, everything became numb, the world faded away, and I lost myself in the words.

The pain died, leaving only truth.

Steadily: more and more truth.

Am I human…?

You are not.

I found records of Hojo's old experiments, and his crumbling notes. The more I read, the heavier my heart seemed, and I longed to forget what I found here.

But something constantly spurred me on.

Do I have a heart? Do I feel?

You do not.

'Jenova; an organism found in a two thousand year old geographical stratum.'

That name. Where have I heard it before?

Jenova is the name of your mother.

Is this just a coincidence?

No.

In the beginning, the words didn't fit. They didn't make sense.

Something kept me here, but these experiments didn't seem related to me at all.

The books didn't make sense.

Jenova; an Ancient found in a two thousand year old geographical stratum.

One night, all of a sudden, I understood. The words twisted and blurred, and their meaning came to me. Their painfully obvious meaning.

How could I not have seen it before?

The Jenova Project wanted to produce people with the powers of the Cetra.

You are the one that was produced.

You are not human.

You are my son.

I am Jenova's son. I am the last remaining Ancient.

You are the last remaining Ancient.

Now, come to me.

Free me.

She was in the abandoned Mako reactor.

I had to reach her.

The town and its people were in my way. I had to reach her.  I had to free her. Jenova.

Your mother.

My mother.

I can't see anymore. I am in the village, but nothing matters except for my goal.

I must reach Jenova.

Come to me.

Destroy anything in your path.

Flames. The village is in flames. People are dead.

What have I done?

Come to me.

The Mako reactor. I've reached it. How did I get here so quickly? I can't feel my mind. It's left me.

The door won't open. Where is my sword? What happened to Masamune? Where is it?

"How could you do that to papa and all the townspeople?!"

My vision clears, and I am finally able to see through the meaningless blur.

Before me– the heaving figure of a young girl, upset beyond reason.

Why is she upset?

… Why does she have Masamune?

You are not human. You are a monster.

Take back your sword, and kill the girl.

She charges at me. My mind empties for the hundredth time that night, and my sword is back with me. And then she is at the bottom of the stairs, and blood is on the ground.

What is happening?

Come to me.

Mother.

Here she is. Here I am. She is locked away beneath a mask, beneath armour.

Let's take this planet back together. Let's go to the Promised Land.

"Mother, let's take this planet back together."

I am here, and she is here. And all is right with the world.

Together, we will rule it.

We will be gods.
