Fragile Bond
By R-N
He hits me, and I fall to the ground, wincing at the pain. His eyes flash in annoyance as he names my faults. I say nothing, taking solace of the cold floor I lay on. He walks away, leaving me alone.
Kizna comes up to me and extends her hand. As I grab it, she begins her usual tirade over Hiead. But I can't hate him. I can never hate him. In one fell swoop, she pulls me up, sending my head into dizzying spins. Everything begins to fade around me, and faintly, I can hear her cursing Hiead for this. I smile to myself in the growing darkness. I can never hate him. We are joined in the bond of pilot and repairer, no matter how fragile it may seem. And I love him...
-----
"Ikhny?" I open my eyes, to find myself in my own bed. Kizna is watching me, concerned, and I smile.
"It's okay. I'm fine."
But the peace is broken as Hiead storms in. "Ikhny." He comes over, yanking me out of my bed. In the background, Kizna is protesting furiously, and I shake my head at her to quiet her. He drags me to the door, yelling at me to hurry up. "They're starting soon. I need you to check over the Pro-Ing now."
I follow meekly, saying nothing. But I take comfort in his words, that he needs me, even if it's for his own purposes. And I will be there, come what may.
