Authors Notes: I do not own Glee or Superman. This is purely for fun.

The amount Superman myths will be used or followed very minimal. Birth, powers, and a few overlapping essentials will be it.

Thank you to everyone who has returned, reread, or just found this story. It has been dear to me for a long time. I finally found my groove to get back to it. Losing Naya just stopped my creative thoughts. But, I've found them again. Here we go

Chapter 17: I am Superwoman

An earthquake in Chile had kept her busy for several hours. There were too many people buried in unstable rubble for her to be able to help too much. If she just barged in, she would end up doing more harm than good. She did help the excavation and rescue team with her x-ray vision and super hearing.

Natural disasters were always the worst part of her job. She had learned to prioritize distance, immediate need, and the severity of emergencies early on. It took a long time and many long talks with both her parents and Cassie for her to accept she couldn't save anyone no matter how hard she tried. Even if she gave a normal life up, Superwoman couldn't be in two places at once. Not matter how fast she was. If there was a mugging in Metropolis, she couldn't also be putting out a building fire in Hong Kong.

She knew the rescue effort could take up to days maybe even long, but her standing around waiting to be able to help was the same as her not listening for others who needed. Other people, who needed her, like Brittany.

By the time she got back into Metropolis and changed, it was well pasted 4 a.m. She didn't know if she could go to Brittany's or not. She had flown past quickly on her way home and checked to see if she was asleep. Brittany had a habit of keeping odd hours. Santana felt her heart sink a little when she saw her asleep on the couch. She felt the need to tell her reverberating in her soul. She never felt the need for anything like this. Maybe not even for the sun.

She didn't even know if Brittany would wake up with her knocking. The heroine just knew she had to try. Her leaving so quickly again tonight reminded her, she needed to ask Brittany before she just blurted it out. It wouldn't be fair for Brittany to have that dangerous knowledge if she didn't know what she was getting into.

Just when she was about to knock again she heard shuffling feet coming to the door. She felt like she couldn't breathe.

"Santana, it's 4 in the morning," She yawned softly as she opened the door. "Are you okay? You look terrible."

"I feel horrible about leaving earlier," she looked towards the apartment waiting to see if Brittany was going to let her in. "I don't want you to be mad."

The taller woman motioned with her eyes for Santana to make her way into the apartment. "Santana, I'm not mad." Brittany shrugged a little bit and let out a small sigh, "I'm hurt."

"Which is worse than mad," Santana made her way into the apartment trying to keep herself from crying. She couldn't see with her glasses on if she was crying.

"I don't know if it's any worse," The blonde made her way towards the couch and took a seat as she let another yawn out. "I just wish you felt like you could have stayed to tell me if you're afraid of commitment. I feel like everything you said earlier about your feelings is your truth."

"Britt, it really is the opposite. I am not afraid of commitment. You are the only thing I have ever been this sure about," She followed her to couch and sat down beside her. "I don't even know where to start. This isn't like talking about an ex from college or getting arrested for a peaceful protest…This is…" Santana took a deep breath and tried to steady her hand as she grabbed Brittany's. "This is like all of me. I just want you to know this is BIG. Like bigger than if we knew nuclear launch codes big."

"I want to know all of you Santana," She ran her fingers across Santana knuckles. "What do I know about you, I know you wouldn't be so serious and apprehensive if this wasn't a big deal." She put her forehead to Santana's trying to convey her feelings. "Please just tell me you aren't sick. I don't think I could handle loosing you. In any capacity."

"I am not sick. I don't want you to think I'm selfish for wanting something." The heroine felt herself start to tear up. "I've always tried to do everything right. Be kind, be good, be caring and not want too much." She looked softly at the woman in front of her. The one person she had ever decided to tell the truth on her own terms, "But I realize, I just want you."

"Oh honey," She put both of her hands on Santana's cheeks to get the now crying woman to look at her, "You are the kindest, gentlest, most selfless person I know." She leaned forward kissing the brunette softly on the lips, "If it is making you this upset and unsure I am sure it is very important. I want you to know whatever you have to tell me, I will try my best to be respectful to you and honest with my feelings of it."

"I think I've made it clear how I feel about you. I also trust you implicitly," She leaned forward and kissed Brittany on the forehead. "Brittany, I…" She didn't even know what to say. 'Sorry to tell you you're dating an alien. Oh we might be in the middle of lady loving and I have to leave to save a cat in a tree'

The pause gave Brittany a small chance to try and reassure her. "Take your time. This obviously isn't easy for you. I am here and I am listening, Honey."

She stood up and looked at Brittany, putting a little space between them. She knew was going to have give Brittany time to process. A four am wake up call probably wasn't her best decision. "I don't leave all the time because my OCD is so bad I have to pay a bill or return a movie. I don't leave because I don't want to spend time with you or because I'm too afraid in as much effort at work as you." Her tears were getting the better of her again. She reached for her glasses and offered Brittany a small smile, "I leave because I can't help helping people. I leave because I have a calling and a duty to help people." She pulled her glasses all the way off and looked and let out a small sigh, "I leave because I am Superwoman." She searched Brittany's face for any type of reaction. She was expecting to get yelled at or something, but Brittany was laughing.

The blonde just shook her head and laughed a little, "Santana. If you're trying to scare me off you should have told me you were sick. This is not something to joke about. I really thought something was wrong."

Santana was shell shocked. Had she really hidden it so well that even with her glasses off right in front of Brittany, the blonde couldn't see it. "Britt, I'm serious. I know it's a lot to take in and process. But, I wouldn't lie to you, at least not anymore."

"I don't know if this is a mean joke or if you're so tried you're delusional." She got up and walked over to her partner. "Superwoman is taller than me. Even with the boots giving a little height you aren't that tall. You are also much more beautiful than she is," Brittany ran her fingers across Santana's cheek. "I'm not saying she's not a beautiful woman. But you just have…This something."

She really did see them as two different people. Santana and Superwoman were really so different to Brittany. Maybe it was her feelings for Santana that kept her logic clouded. She really thought the glasses would do it…Then it came to her. She put her arms around Brittany's waist and pulled her into a soft kiss. As soon as she felt Brittany melt into her and wrap her arms around the hero's shoulders. She slowly started to defy gravity and floated them a couple inches above the ground. Her partner didn't even seem notice. "Brittany, it's not a joke."

Brittany shook her head clear of the fog that their kiss brought on. She was slowly getting her bearings. She almost yelped when she gripped onto Santana tighter, "How is this possible? I mean..Who else…how long…your powers?" Brittany started muttering a long line of questions seemingly to herself as Santana put them back on the ground.

She could hear Brittany's heart starting to race. She really didn't want to give her a panic attack. She put her hands on the side of Brittany's face, getting her to focus on her again. "I will tell you whatever you want to know. I will let you take whatever time you need. I'm sure this is a lot to take in. I have never experienced this before."

Brittany looked up at her confused, "That can't be right. Like never? Like no one else.. knows..You're..you know."

All the superhero could do was offer a small nod, "I have never told anyone. My parents know. They watched my powers develop and change," She took a deep breath trying to calm herself, as well, "My childhood best friend knows too. But she found out by mistake. I stopped a tractor from hitting her on her grandparent's farm when we were 15. Her grandfather had dementia and he forgot to put it in park."

"I really….I just don't know what to say," She wasn't sure if she should feel honored, sad or just confused.

"I've wanted to tell you for so long," She let out a small sigh trying to gather the right words. "I didn't mean to lie to you or to hurt you."

"But who am I dating? Santana or Superwoman?" Brittany didn't really know where Santana stopped and Superwoman began. Where was she from? How long has she been super? How old was she when she got her powers?

"Santana Lopez is who I am," She offered a small smile to Brittany, "Superwoman is what I can do. My need to help and not let things go idly by is a product of how I was raised I guess. That and I knew from a very young age I was different."

"I think you mean special," The young journalist was doing her best to process the information and listen. Santana must have been so lonely for so long. No real relationships to speak of from what she told Brittany. She was sure to have had some good friendships, but if she had to cancel plans half as many time as she ran off the scene of an assignment, Brittany wasn't too sure how many people would put up with that. "Can I ask you how old you were when you go your powers? What makes you different?"

"You can ask me whatever you want," She put her hand out and motioned toward the couch. She sat down and Brittany followed, "I started getting my powers when I was very young. Probably about 4 years old. I was really strong really young. My other powers just came basically with age. I didn't fly until I was almost 16. I was just really fast for a long time. I was out running my dad in his truck at 6 years old. It was really hard when a new power would just manifest and I had to learn control it on the fly. No pun intended," She smiled softly at her partner.

"Oh Honey," Was really all Brittany could think of to say. She didn't have any words for what she was hearing. She was trying to be as supportive and understanding as possible.

They pair spent the next several hours just talking. About her powers, her parents finding her and adopting her, about her being other worldly. Brittany had taken it all in stride. It had really surprised Santana she hadn't freaked out more. Santana was honest with any question she was asked. Brittany FINALLY found out her favorite Japanese food came from Japan. There was still the giant unanswered 'what were they doing to do now' question. Santana was terrified to ask it.

She and Brittany had moved into a laying position. Brittany laying across the hero on the couch under her. She ran her fingers through Brittany's hair and took in a deep breath.

"You are so warm, San," Brittany felt like she was just melting into Santana's body. She had always felt so relaxed and comfortable with her. But this was a different feeling. She tilted her head back to look at Santana's face and studied her features. "I don't know how I didn't see it before. I am supposed to be good at my job. The world's biggest secret has been under my nose all this time."

"I've had to be so careful for so long and camouflage," She spoke softly as she looked Brittany in the eyes, "I was basically two different people. I had to be."

"That must have been so lonely San," She turned on her stomach so she could wrap her arms around the heroine's waist. "I'm so sorry you had to go through it alone."

"I wasn't alone," She threw her arms over her partner's shoulders; "I had my parents and Cassandra after she found out. But it doesn't mean it hasn't sucked."

"You don't have to worry about being alone anymore," Brittany put her hand on back of Santana's neck and pulled her in for a heated kiss.
