~ Ok it's just a corny little trigun song fic. To the song by R.E.M, I do
not own "loosing my religion" that dude does: points at a tall skinny bald
guy: so yeah enjoy! I know that it's weird ~
Nicolas D. Wolfwood knelt down in the altar the night he had killed the "child" that was after Vash. Nothing had made sense any more, his best friend so to speak was the very person he was out to destroy and yet he had killed for him. "I don't understand it, this isn't fair, I'm so happy with them! Why does it have to be like this? They're my friends!"
---Ooh, Life is bigger It's bigger than you And you are not me The lengths that I will go to The distance in your eyes Oh no I've said too much, I set it up. ---
He thought about sweet Millie, how he adored her, he couldn't stand the thought of her not being apart of his life, even if it were as friends. But his thoughts changed over to the children at the shelter, their lives were in danger, and only he could stop it. It was his only choice the children were his life.
---That's me in the corner That's me in the spotlight, Losing my religion Trying to keep on with you And I don't know if I can do it. Oh no I've said too much I have said enough I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try ---
Again he thought about the person he had killed, he had taken some ones life, Vash was right, no one has the right to take the life of another. A tear fell from his chin and onto the floor. "Dear god, what have I done?"
---Every whisper Of every waking hour I'm Choosing my confessions Trying to keep an eye on you Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool Oh no I've said too much, I haven't said enough ---
He fell to the floor sobbing, he couldn't do it, he couldn't bring his friend back he couldn't hurt him that way. "Please forgive me children, oh please forgive me" he said to know one knowing he would not be returning to them.
---Consider this, consider this The hint of the century Consider this The slip that brought me on my knees, failed What if all these fantasies Come flailing aground Now I've said too much ---
A faint tapping of shoes broke his crying. The church door opened, it was Millie. "Mr. Wolfwood? Is that you in there" he stood up and faced her "yes its me" he gathered his things and walked over to her. "I'm going to go to my room I need to think." He said walking past her trying to hid his tears from her.
---I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try But that was just a dream That was just a dream ---
He sat on his bet with his eyes fixed on nothing important, his head was cluttered. Millie once again interrupted his solitude with a plate of sandwiches. She had the look, the look that said "I'm really concerned about you" and she was "I had no choice"
---That's me in the corner That's me in the spotlight, Losing my religion Trying to keep on with you And I don't know if I can do it. Oh no I've said too much I hadn't said enough I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try ---
"Well what would you have done!?" he asked in a stern voice Millie looked distraught "I.I don't know" He knew that she was being honest with him, and he trusted her, one of the very few people. And he could honestly say that he loved her, this was the night he would try to set things right.
---But that was just a dream Try, Cry, Try That was just a dream Just a dream Just a dream, dream---
