A/N:*Connected to a lie detector machine* I own Yu Yu Hakusho. Yep, I own it. Me. I own Kurama, Hiei, Yusuke, Jin, Kuwabara, Yukina, Koenma, Botan, Keiko-*machine explodes*

Disclaimer: This is the first YYH fic I've dared to post.*sigh* Go easy on me. I'm pretty sure it's in character.*sighs* Me tired, I just updated another one of my fics. I think I'll just read one of my Shonen Jumps after this…*sigh* This is definitely one of the weirdest fics I've ever written. Not because of the fic,

because of the style. You'll see. It's also written in present tense so…yeah.

Warnings: Character death, hints at shonen ai, but can be seen however you want.

Green is the Counterpart of Red

A beuatiful day. The most perfect day you could imagine. Blue skies, fluffy white clouds, a light breeze ruffling the leaves.

No birds sang on this day. No squirrels played in the trees. No children laughing and playing outside.

A beautiful day with a dark cloud hanging over it.

A small, dark shadow sits on a branch overlooking the old temple. A small smile on his lips, his blood-colored eyes are glazed over.

A red-haired boy standing beneath the tree-branch. Sorrow and pity are in his emerald eyes as he stares up at the dark figure.

Crimson orbs remain fixed on the old temple.

"Yukina should be out soon," the shadow states, whether to himself or the boy below him it matters not. "She likes to feed the birds around this time." A look of pure innocence crosses his usually emotionless face.

"Hiei," the red-haired boy says gently, "Yukina's not coming out." He falters, looks down at the ground and wills himself not to cry.

"Why not, baka kitsune?" The shadow glares, "what do you know?"

The boy leaps lightly, landing next to the shadow on the branch.

"Hiei, Yukina's not coming out…ever. You know that."

"What are you babbling about fox? Of course she'll come out! Of course Yukina'll come out!" He yells, jumping off the branch and running away.

A lovely sunset. Violet tinged sky. Orange and pink clouds.

Same dark cloud hanging above.

Same dark shadow, sitting on a windowsill.

Same red-haired boy, sitting on a bed, staring at the dark shadow. Emerald pools still filled with those same emotions. But most importantly, truth.

Perfect silence.

A tear slips down the shadow's cheek, crystallizing into a black pearl.

Emerald eyes slowly focus on the gem.

More dark gems hit the ground as the shadow buries his face in his hands,

"Yukina…"

"Shhh…" Long arms encircle the shadow, attempting to comfort him. "Hush now, Hiei."

The Shadow laughs bitterly, "I never told her."

"She knew."

"Why'd she leave me?"

"She didn't leave you."

"I'm alone again…"

"I'm still here."

"Yukina…"

"Hush…" tears slip down the redhead's cheeks. He pulls the shadow closer to him.

"You balanced eachother out perfectly, you know.

Black and White.

Dark and Light.

Yin and Yang.

Red and Blue.

Hiei and Yukina…" he chokes on the last line as he also dissolves into tears.

"Kitsune?" The word is muffled in the soft material of the redhead's shirt.

"Yes?"

"Arigato."

A pretty girl floating outside the window. A sad smile flits across her lips as she stares down on the two.

She kisses the shadow lightly on the cheek before retreating.

"Iie, Kurama-san. You're wrong. Green is the counterpart of red."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, how weird was that? Wait, don't answer that. Maybe Hiei was a little OOC, but in that situation, he probably would be. Constructive criticism is OK, but no flames please.
Note: The whole "Green is the counterpart of red" thing actually does make sense. Green is the opposite color from red. I read that in some book. *_*;;
