PART II
EXT. SPACE
The Titan is in orbit around a medium-sized planet that is bluish-purple in color.
WILL RIKER (V.O.)
Captain's Log – Stardate 59216.3. Once the away team is aboard,
the Titan will be heading to Earth for some minor refits and modifications.
I, for one, am looking forward to a few days off since our mission schedule
has been so hectic as of late.

INT. BRIDGE – Same Day
WILL RIKER enters the bridge via a turbolift and walks to his chair. LT. CMDR. V'DYK stands at the tactical station while ENSIGN ROBSON mans the helm.
WILL RIKER
(To V'Dyk.)
Report.
LT. CMDR. V'DYK
Commander Enrite and her team have just returned, sir. We're
ready to break orbit.
WILL RIKER
(Nodding.)
Excellent.
(To Robson.)
Ensign, lay in a course for Earth. Warp eight.
ENSIGN ROBSON
Aye, sir.
Robson's fingers move across the helm computer as he inputs the required coordinates. First officer MAGGIE ENRITE exits a turbolift with DEANNA TROI. The women are laughing and carrying on a conversation as they make their way to the command area.
MAGGIE ENRITE
... can't be serious?
DEANNA TROI
Oh, but I am.
MAGGIE ENRITE
That's too much.
WILL RIKER
(Standing.)
Good morning, ladies.
MAGGIE ENRITE
(Nodding.)
Captain.
The three officers take their respective seats.
WILL RIKER
(To Maggie.)
The final details of the Pironian delegates return went well?
MAGGIE ENRITE
Yes, sir. They once again expressed their thanks for our assistance
and extended an open invitation for us to visit Piron whenever we're in
the sector.
ENSIGN ROBSON
(Turning to Riker.)
Course set, sir.
WILL RIKER
Engage.
As the ship jumps into warp, Riker rises and begins walking to his ready room.
WILL RIKER
You have the bridge, Commander.
Maggie nods in acceptance and moves to the center seat. She
and Deanna engage in conversation again.
INT. RIKER'S READY ROOM – Continuous
The ready room door slides shut as WILL RIKER sits behind his desk and turns on his personal viewer. Displayed on the bulkhead behind him are several framed pictures colored by Drew.
WILL RIKER
Computer, connect me to Doctor Beverly Crusher as Starfleet Medical.
COMPUTER
Establishing link.
The Federation logo appears on the viewer as the computer beeps while making the connection. After a few seconds BEVERLY CRUSHER's image fills the screen. She is obviously preoccupied, digging through a stack of data PADDs on her cluttered desk.
BEVERLY CRUSHER
(Finding the PADD she was searching for.)
Hi, Will. I hope you don't mine this being a working call.
I've got a new batch of interns starting today and I'm up to my eyeballs
in extra work because of them.
(Brushing a piece of hair from her face.)
Remind me again why I left the Enterprise ...
Both officers smile at the comment knowing that no matter how much Beverly may complain she loves her position as head of Medical.
WILL RIKER
I promise not to keep you long, Bev. I wanted to let you know
that we're still on schedule and should be arriving planetside late tomorrow.
BEVERLY CRUSHER
Good.
(Studying the PADD.)
I've already arranged for a sitter for Drew and made reservations at
the Blue Note so that we can wind down a bit.
WILL RIKER
(Wide grin.)
You picked the best jazz club in San Francisco!
BEVERLY CRUSHER
(Smiling.)
I figured you'd approve.
(Holding up a finger.)
Excuse me for a second.
WILL RIKER
Of course.
Beverly disappears from view allowing Riker the opportunity to better see the wall behind her desk. Among the displayed objects is a holopicture of the Enterprise senior staff taken at his wedding to Deanna. A bittersweet smile crosses Riker's face as he remembers the happy occasion, which also served as the last time all of them were together.
BEVERLY CRUSHER
(Returning to her desk.)
Will?
Beverly breaks Riker from his reverie.
WILL RIKER
Sorry.
(Tilting his head.)
The wedding picture on your wall caught me eye.
BEVERLY CRUSHER
(Glancing over her shoulder.)
Yeah, that was a pretty special day.
WILL RIKER
It was.
Beverly notices the chronometer on her desk and starts gathering the various PADDs scattered on her desk.
BEVERLY CRUSHER
All right, I need to get to a meeting if I want my interns to actually
start working today.
(Smiling.)
Tell Deanna I can't wait to see her and give Drew a big hug for me.
WILL RIKER
Will do.
(Pauses.)
See you tomorrow night, Beverly.
Riker turns the viewer off and reaches for a PADD of his own to begin
reviewing.
