The sounds of light snoring could be heard, issuing from the form of Chihiro sleeping in her bed, apparently in a deep sleep. Four years had passed since her venture to the Spirit world and she had been having dreams about it ever since. Dreams about Haku. About cleaning the largest scum- encrusted tub with Lin, when Chihiro was known as Sen.
Tonight, she had dreamed about her parents and the pigs they had turned into. It still horrified her to see her parents eat like that; being afraid they would turn into pigs. Then, the fourteen-year-old woke with a start. Cold sweat dampened her slender body. Sighing heavily, she relaxed back into her pillows and muttered to herself, "Just a dream.." And fell back to sleep.

The next morning, Chihiro went down to breakfast, tying back her auburn hair with the same hair tie that Zaniba and No Face had made for her. She still had it, and used it every day. Going over to her chair and sitting down, Chihiro rubbed her forehead with her hand while her mother put a bowl of sushi rice in front of her.
"Another dream, Chihiro?" Her mother asked, looking down at her.
"Yeah, another dream," she replied, yawning. Picking up her chopsticks, she began to eat, pausing every now and then to think. Haku promised her that they would see each other again, and after four years, he still hadn't come back.
"I'm going out, mom," Chihiro called a few minutes later as she ran out the door. She slowed to a walk as she stared down at the grassy field below her, the blades of grass swaying in the light breeze. Chihiro started walking down the hill and onto the pathway. Looking both ways, she just stood there, gaze now fixed in the direction that would take her to the Bath House. Something in her heart told her to go, but there was a guilty feeling in the pit of her stomach. Suddenly, she broke into a run and sprinted up the road. The great red tunnel loomed in the distance; she knew she would make it.
Slowing her pace to a walk, she stopped briefly before entering the tunnel of darkness. Her footsteps echoed off the near walls as she walked, her eyes shining with excitement. Reaching the end of the tunnel, she grinned and looked around. It hadn't changed one bit. The dead leaves were still there as she remembered them from four years before. The stained glass windows still cast crimson light upon the concrete surface of the floor. Chihiro's grin broadened and she walked to the open green field of green grass. The bathhouse area loomed on the horizon. Finally reaching her destination on the bridge, she stopped to marvel the large crimson building. The sun was beginning to make its descent from the sky. The bathhouse would open very soon. Feelings of excitement flooded through her veins and she quivered with anticipation. Then, without any sort of warning, something very hard and very solid smacked her on the side of the head. Chihiro fell to the ground, unconscious.
Darkness obscured her vision.
