Dragon Eyes
Chapter One
Steely Gray
"Ron! Harry! Over here!" Hermione screamed at the top of her lungs to get the attention of her friends. 'They must be deaf if they don't hear me!" she thought.
She gave up after a minute and tried to figure out what was distracting them so much. She followed their gaze to a blond girl standing with some friends. "A girl no doubt." She mumbled under her breath. 'I wonder what it is like to be stared at like that; they act like she's some goddess.'
She didn't have to wonder long, she soon felt like someone was staring at her. She let her eyes roam the crowd. She noticed that many of the boys were staring at the blond, but not one was looking at her. She took so long looking around her, she didn't realize that Harry and Ron had walked up to her.
"Hermione, what is wrong?" Harry asked as he watched her swing her head in every direction looking for something.
She continued looking around. After a few minutes of looking around her eyes finally settled on a pare of cold gray eyes. Her brain wasn't working properly. It took her a moment to realize who it was. 'Malfoy? Why would her stare at me?' She stood in wonder for a few moments. 'No, he couldn't. could he?'
"HERMIONE?!?! Are you okay? Should we call a doctor?" Ron screamed as if she was deaf.
"Oh. Yes Ron, I am okay, and no, no doctors." Hermione mumbled as she turned away from Malfoy.
Harry looked around her to see what she had been looking at for the last minute. He finally found what she was looking at and frowned.
"Why were you looking at Malfoy?" Harry asked, the frown still on his face.
She stood petrified for a moment and thought, 'He notices, crap.' and then snapped, "I'm not the only one! You and Ron's mouths were hanging all the way to the ground when you were staring at that new girl. The point is, I don't like Malfoy, and you guys were looking at her for fun."
"FUN? What are you talking about? Since when do guys stare at girls for Fun? When I see a pretty girl, I am proud to gawk." Ron ranted.
Hermione felt a pang of jealousy. Ron never gawked at her. He never even took the time to notice her. 'He doesn't like you. Get over it.' She thought as her heart ached.
She had liked Ron for over four years now. She tried her best to get his attention, but he was always either looking at other girls or playing chest. So there was never going to be something between them that was more than friendship. She just knew that.
Harry saw what pain Ron was causing Hermione and stopped him from saying anything else till they got on the train.
