It was the end of July, and I had just finished my summer work from
school and was now looking forward to relaxing on the beach of southern
France. It may have only been 8 a.m. but I was already up and getting
ready for a day of sunbathing. It was only when I heard the high pitched
squeal of Pig, the Weasley's owl come through the sliding glass door of the
condo that my parents had bought years earlier, as I leaned out my bedroom
door I saw that my mother had taken the letter and that it was addressed to
both her and my father. I smiled knowing it was probably a letter from
Mrs. Weasley asking if I could spend the last few days of the holidays with
her family at the Burrow. As I finished getting ready, clad in khaki
shorts, my new bikini, a white tank top and flip-flops, I stepped from my
bedroom and walked into the kitchen. Just then another large owl came
swooping through the open sliding glass door, this time it had an envelope
with an official Hogwarts label on it, and it was also addressed to my
parents.
"Mum? Dad? You have another letter!" I said calling to my parents in their bedroom.
I poured the owls water in a bowl for them to share and then took the letter and brought it into my parents' bedroom. When I walked in it looked like my mum had been crying and my dad looked a mixture of sad and angry, not a mix that often came over my level headed father.
"What's wrong?" I asked handing the letter to my dad.
"Mione you know that the Weasley's owl arrived with a letter, right?" he asked while opening and looking over the letter I had just handed him.
"Yeah," I replied, as he turned to my mother and nodded. "What's going on?"
"Mione, the first letter was from the Weasleys the second was from Professor Dumbledore, both say what we knew from what you told us, Lord Voldemort is on the loose again, the other thing that Dumbledore's letter says is that he is making a request of us and you," my dad said speaking slowly as if the slower he spoke the more I would understand.
"I'll do any thing, what does he need us to do?" I said.
"Mione," my mother said looking at me, "Dumbledore wants us, your father and I to watch for anything odd that appears on the news, any unexplained deaths, anything like it was 15 year ago, and for you he wants."
"What?" I asked excited, maybe he wanted me to skip 5th year and go right to O.W.L.s so I could train to become an Aurour.
"He wants you to go and stay with the Weasleys and Sirius at a safe house of sorts for the rest of the summer and possibly the winter holidays," my father said.
"Okay, but what about my school trunk?"
"Tomorrow, at 9 a.m. Mrs. Weasley and the twins will be here to retrieve you and the things you have now and Bill will be going to our house and getting your trunk and anything else you may need for the school year."
"I guess I don't have much of a choice in this do I?"
"Herm, we only want to do what is right for you. We don't want you to be in any more danger than we can prevent. Please trust us, this is what seems to be the best," my mother said as I stared at my feet trying not to cry.
"I know," I said softly as I walked out of their room, crossed the hall, entered my room, locked the door and began to cry.
