James smiled as he saw Lily enter the main entrance. Her owl (Midnight) was
in her cage, balanced on top of her trunk.
"Hey James," said Lily.
Sirius, (who was stood behind James,) patted him on the back, and whispered good luck in his ear. He then led the other two Marauders out the main entrance to wait for the carriages.
James put his hand in his pocket, and felt the box containing the ring he was going to give Lily.
"So, Lily, want to go for a quick walk?" asked James nervously.
"Actually, I think we should wait for the carriages outside," said Lily, looking disappointed.
"Sure I guess," said James wheeling his trunk, with his owl Godric on top, out the main doors followed by Lily.
The doors shut behind them, and they heard the sound of party music, firecrackers, and drunken teachers.
The Marauders were saying some goodbye to people they knew they weren't likely to see for a while. Sirius then set up some Filibuster fireworks for a graduation day prank. James waited until everyone turned round to look at the fireworks.
He then turned to Lily, and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Yes James?" asked Lily eagerly.
"Lily, I've loved you since the first time I saw you at our sorting. And I was the happiest guy alive when we started to date but now I hope you will agree to my proposal. Lily, will you marry me?" asked James bending down on one knee and holding the box open.
Lily smiled and squealed with delight. James stood up and slipped the ring onto her finger.
Lily hugged him, and admired the ring.
"Come on James! I've got to show Sunset!" said Lily before dragging James over to where Sunset was stood being chatted up by Sirius.
"So maybe we could meet up some time and get to know each other better?" asked Sirius slyly.
Sunset giggled, and agreed to meet him at the Leaky Cauldron when they arrived in London.
"Hey Sunset, guess what?" exclaimed Lily breaking the moment when the two kissed.
Sunset leaned in ignoring Lily's excited squeals.
"Lily, I think these two want to be alone," said James, before leading her to Remus and girlfriend Colleena. Remus was comforting Colleena's distress with kisses.
James turned to see Peter persuading his on-again-off-again girlfriend Libby, that they deserved each other.
Lily was getting angry, and before James could stop her she was shouting: "Doesn't anyone care I'm engaged?"
The whole crowd stopped what they were doing and began congratulating the two.
The boys all shook James' hand and patted his back; apart from Lucius Malfoy and the Slytherins. They just smirked at the crowd of Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, and Ravenclaws, surrounding the two.
The girls all squealed deafeningly, and discussed dresses.
The carriages arrived, and the crowd let James and Lily take the first one with Sirius and Sunset.
Remus and Peter went in the second carriage; dragging their girlfriends in with them. The carriages arrived at Hogsmeade station with a banner saying: ' Good luck seventh years' hung on the train.
Lily and James climbed into a compartment while Sirius and sunset put their trunks and owls into storage.
"James I'm so happy!" smiled Lily, leaning her head on James' shoulder.
"So am I, Lily," smiled James, as the train set off back to London. "So am I."
