Title: Lies My Parents Told Me
Author: Dana
Rating: PG
Warnings: Will list them if there are any first chapter has a very sick character.
Summary: In an AU the McMahon's are confronted with someone who they thought had died and he's not very happy.
Author's note: Yes I took the title of this fic from the show Buffy. Seemed appropriate. Now I don't have to keep referring to it as that unnamed Shane McMahon fic ;)
Time frame: Completely AU. Starts out in 1984 and jumps up in the years.
Disclaimer: I don't own any name you recognize!
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
Yeah, How I used to be
How I used to be, yeah
"Unwell"-Matchbox 20
Tell Me a Lie
"Shane are you sure you don't want to try chemo?" Linda McMahon asked her fourteen-year-old son as she helped him pack his stuff.
"You heard Dr. Schmidt. Chemo won't cure it. There is no cure." Tears shown in his eyes. "This is supposed to be a good hospice."
"I wish your dad could be here but there was a problem in the company. He said he'd be there as soon as he can. We all will." Linda hugged her son fighting her own tears.
Seven year old Stephanie entered the room. "Shane do you really have to go?"
"Yeah Steph I do."
"Why?"
"Shane's really sick Steph." Linda quickly explained. "He needs to go somewhere to be taken care of."
I wonder what she'll tell her when I never come home. Shane thought as he zipped up his bag. The place he was going to was called The Connecticut Hospice and it was in Branford. He closed his last suitcase. "I'm ready to go."
"Okay let's take the suitcases out to the car." As they went out to the car. "Shane we'll come see you as much as we can. You won't have to go through this completely alone."
"I know mom."
The ride to the hospice was not a quiet one as Stephanie talked about her friend's birthday party tomorrow. He wished he could be that innocent. To Stephanie Shane was just going away for awhile but would be back. He knew his parents didn't want to tell her he was dying.
"Hey Shane can you open the glove compartment?" Linda asked.
Shane did. He was surprised to find an envelope with his name on it. He opened it.
Dear Shane,
Sorry I couldn't be there. Here's some spending money. Call any time. We love you.
Dad
He wasn't sure he'd have a chance to spend money but it was the thought that counts he supposed. He felt a feeling of dread as they pulled up to the Hospice.
Well here goes nothing. He thought.
