Lily Evans stepped off the Hogwarts express and looked around for her parents. Or Petunia. "Where in bloody-"

"Come on Lily."Came a voice that made Lily tense up. She turned to facece Vernon Dursley, her older sister Petunia's fiancee.

"Where are my parents and Petunia?"Lily demanded.

"You'll see soon enough, freak. Get in the car."He shoved her into the back seat of his car, then started it and sped off to Lily's house.

"Vernon what happened!"Lily screeched, glaring at his face in the rearveiw mirror.

"I said you'll see."He growled.

"Just tell...."Lilys voice trailed off as they turned onto her block. Police cards and ambulences lined the street in front of her house which was ablaze. Lily threw herself out of the car, taking a few staggaring steps towards her burning house. Then she felt a blinding blow to the side of her face. Her head turned with it, and her hand flew to the already reddening area.

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"Petunia screamed at her.

"WHAT IS?!"Lily demanded. Petunia grabbed her shoulder roughly and turned her around. Lilys breath caught in her throat.

Her father stood a few feet away from her. His eyes were cold. Dark and cold like the dungeons at Hogwarts. He looked down at her, and she stared up at his face. He looked so disappointed. Her gaze shifted to the woman in his arms.

"M...Mum...?"Lily muttered softly.

"She cant hear you." Her father snapped."Your mothers dead."Even his voice leaked blame and disappointment.

"No..."But it was true. Her mothers arm was draped up around his neck, blood on her fingers, dripping onto the collar of his shirt. A blood stain ran down the front of his shirt, like he'd been holding her while she bled and she'd slipped out of his arms. Blood soaked through the coat that was wrapped around her mothers body. And her eyes were lifeless, fogged over.

Another hard blow across her face. Staggaring, Lily tripped over her Hogwarts robes and hit the grass. As she went to stand, her hand slipped on something. Looking down, a low scream started in her throat, then grew to a wail. The grass was smothered and covered in blood.

"Thats right Lily. Your laying where your mother was before they knifed her." Vernon threw a knife into the dirt next to Lily's hand. It was a magnificent daggar, with a golden snake wound around the handle. Its eyes, emeralds, glinted in the setting sun.

"They were after you. Your mother told me they demanded to know where you were, then killed her when she couldn't tell them. This is your fault."Her fathers voice dripped with hatred. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Lily, Lily calm down!" Lilys flailing arms were held down, and a soft hand caressed her face.

"James!"Lily say bolt upright.

"Shhh, you'll wake Harry."He said softly, staggaring backwards as she threw her arms around his neck and started crying in his shoulder. "Whats wrong? What was it."

"Summer....6th year..."She sobbed. James heaved a sigh and sat down next to her, patting her back gently.

"It wasn't your fault, Lily."

"They were af-"

"We discussed this. We talked about it with everyone and no one blamed it on you. Even under truth potions no one did."He smiled lightly.

"I know its just-"

The door was blasted open half way through her sentance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We've all read enough stories that include the night they died, so I don't need to put it in there. ^^
