Thinking back, she supposed you could say he started on Valentine's day. Red, as always, it was the day of love after all.

Next it was on the first day of Spring. That had been unexpected. Roses weren't something people necessarily gave out year round. But it was a gorgeous green color unlike any rose she'd ever seen before and so she happily accepted it, a small confused smile on her face.

The first day of Summer, he graced her with a yellow one. Its soft scent tickled her nose and reminded her of the first yellow rose he'd given her, all those years ago. To friendship, she thought as she took it.

Following that, it was her birthday. How he knew when her birthday was was beyond her, but when he arrived with a lovely blush pink rose in his hand on what appeared to be the randomest day ever, she knew he must. She wondered if he knew pink was her favorite color too or if that was just a coincidence.

Next came the anniversary of the day they'd met and memories of her falling from the sky played in both their minds as he held out a purple rose. Upon further research, she learned purple roses symbolized fascination and laughed at thought.

The first day of Autumn arrived, and so did he, a bright orange flower between his fingers. She didn't think she'd ever smiled brighter.

He gave her one on Halloween too, which she found partially peculiar. However, when she realized it was his favorite holiday, an amused grin filled her face. She hadn't known black roses were a thing, but it most certainly seemed most fitting for the spookiest day of the year.

Now here she stood, awaiting his arrival. It was the first day of Winter today, and if the rest of the year was anything to go by, she'd be getting another flower from him. She thought through all the colors she'd received. At this point, she only seemed to be missing white and blue. A shiver ran through her, and not from the cold. Please don't bring white, she pleaded in her head. He still didn't know, of course. She had yet to gather the courage to tell him.

A small thump sounded behind her and she turned, trying not to bounce on her feet. When this whole thing had begun to get exciting, she wasn't sure, but it had and now was no different.

A smirk was present on his face, his emerald eyes sparkling with amusement. Watching her slowly become more excited for this probably hadn't helped his ego much, but it sure helped in other ways.

"Excited, aren't we, M'lady," he teased. Her cheeks colored to a matching pink as the rose he gave for her birthday.

"Maybe a little…" she mumbled.

"I've been thinking through all the colors I know you have and I realized I hadn't quite finished the rainbow. So…"

With a flourish, he presented her with a lovely deep blue rose. It was the exact shade of her eyes and the only shade of blue that ever seemed to stand out to him.

She took it from him gently, one of the softest smiles he'd ever seen on her face. Her eyes finally rose to meet his, a look he couldn't place shining from them.

Going up on her toes, she gave him a kiss on the cheek, lingering there for just a moment.

"Thank you, Kitty."
