A/N: I'm sorry.
The mission was easy: infiltrate Talon's sleeper cell they found in Eichenwalde and obtain information from their computers that hopefully would do two important things. The first? Convince the rest of Overwatch's members that the concern of Talon's reach was legitimate. The second: provide enough information that they could then use to conduct raids on other Talon bases. Easy, right?
At least, it was at first.
Lena, their ever-discreet pilot, dropped the plane as low as she could for the team to jump out. Once Hanzo, Mercy, Soldier, and McCree had their feet solidly on the ground, the ship began to rescind into the distance. "You've got three hours to the second, or else I'm going and spillin' the beans to Overwatch so they can come save you. Best of luck!" Her chirpy voice didn't quite fit her dialogue, and the eeriness of it sent a small chill up Mercy's spine.
And thus, they set out. Working their way up the mountain, they followed the GPS Soldier had recently built into a new wristpiece that had the coordinates for a recent radio signal they had discovered and listened in on. However, once they made their way through Eichenwalde and up the hill, they stopped. The signal showed them right on top of it, yet no base.
"Gotta be underground here," Soldier thought out loud.
"Look for an entrance!" He barked, using his visor to help him see. He had chosen this mission to happen in the dead of night, after all. To be more discreet.
The four split up, searching around for any kind of possible entryway into a base. Soldier moved up ahead to search, McCree to the right. The last to leave was Hanzo and Mercy. Hanzo took a quick glance around, surveying the open area to ensure they didn't miss something painfully obvious. Once he was satisfied and agreed with Soldier that it had to be something hidden, he ran off to the left. Mercy watched his outline in the dark, trying her best to stay with at least one person so she wouldn't get left behind or accidentally fall down a hole or something.
Mercy hung back slightly as Hanzo made his way into the cave. "I will wait here, so you can find your way back if it's a dead end," she reasoned, and Hanzo didn't argue. He figured they could use a set of eyes as lookout, something none of the men were willing to volunteer for.
As he ventured deeper into the basement, he found a staircase. Unguarded, completely unprotected. This only reinforced his suspicion that this wouldn't lead to anything important. His eyes stubbornly refusing to adjust to the darkness, he worked his way down the staircase slowly and as quietly as possible. With every sound Hanzo would freeze, listening intently to make sure that he wasn't the one to give the team away.
"Find anything yet?" A frustrated Soldier's voice sounded over the comm.
"Nuthin' over here, pard'ner," An annoyed sigh followed the cowboy's words.
"Hanzo is still looking!" Mercy said, voice filled with hope. "You two do the same. We did not make this venture for nothing."
Hanzo determinedly quickened his pace, clearing the staircase quickly. If he found something, he'd know it. So, he took off down the hallway, keeping his eyes peeled for any spec of light. He cautiously examined the only room he had found at the end of the hallway. Hanzo felt uneasy, and opened his mouth to ask his team to sound off when his concerns were answered by a shrill scream from none other than Mercy herself coming over the comms.
He froze, his heart thumping in his chest for half a second. He froze for half a second before taking off faster than he ever had in his life back to other side of the room to make his way back to the staircase. However, he didn't make it more than a step before giant, bright floodlights suddenly filled the room with light. The sudden flash of light caused him to wrench his eyes shut to try and adjust them as quickly as possible.
"Help!" He heard Mercy scream so loudly over the comms that if he wasn't already wincing, he would have. "We're," her voice came muffled, like someone was trying to cover her mouth. "compromised! Run!" Mercy's comm went to static immediately following that, then eery silence followed for half a second. He could hear the frantic breaths of the other two men in his ear as they forced themselves to move as fast as possible to aid their healer.
"Hola, guapo."
A familiar voice in his ear brought him back to his situation. His eyes snapped open to find a team of Talon operatives flooding the room. He reflectively reached for his bow, but just as he had notched the first arrow, a familiar purple cast covered him and his weapon. He followed the purple trail to behind him, reluctantly turning his back to the enemies entering the room.
"Que hicistes mi chiquito?" Sombra faded into view, her gun aimed straight between his eyes.
He hoped his comm was picking it up.
"You won't win this fight," Hanzo said, determination settling in his brow.
"Oh? And why is that, cabron?" Sombra sneered. "In case you forgot, you're in our territory now."
With a glance from her behind him, he knew that her employees were getting closer. The last thing Mercy needed right now was for another one of them to get captured.
"Just hold on you two! We're comin' as quick as possible!" McCree's frantic and breathless voice rang in Hanzo's ear.
Hanzo sighed, smirking. He threw his hands slightly, trying to stay calm. "I suppose you got me there, huh." Hanzo chuckled, noting the confusion in Sombra's furrowed eyebrows.
Sombra let out a sharp, genuine laugh. "Oh dios mio," she wiped a fake tear from her eye. "You have got to work on your acting skills. But, since you made me laugh, I won't shoot you." She put her gun back into her belt. Sombra looked back up at Hanzo, and promptly faded from view. "Boys, round him up and put him in a cell."
Hanzo felt her presence leave her spot, but unfortunately he couldn't be sure if she was still there or not. Once he turned, though, the purple haze around his bow was gone. He raised his bow, glaring down his nose at the dozens of Talon members surrounding him. He pulled the arrow back, ready to put down the first one to approach. However, before he could let one fly, another purple mist surrounded his bow, shutting it down. He growled, looking up to where the invisible giggling girl would have been standing.
"Oh come on. You didn't think I would've just left you to them, did you? And definitely not fully equipped."
Hanzo gruffed and placed his bow back on his back, readying himself. He would make his way out of this.
Hanzo quickly and efficiently subdued almost every single enemy, when Sombra faded into view. He wasn't quite sure why, she wasn't even looking at him. But then -
He turned, and promptly froze yet again.
Doomfist stood, his giant hand gripped around Mercy's throat, holding her off the ground. He grinned evilly, Mercy's arms frantically pulling at his fingers. Not only to try and get him to let go of her, but to also try and keep the pressure off of her neck.
Hanzo slowly lifted his hands. "Listen . . . let her go, we can-"
"Save your words, archer." Doomfist boomed, anger lacing his words. His grip on Mercy tightened, and Hanzo swore he could see her face changing color. "You will be taken captive alongside your colleagues. If you refuse, she will die now, and you will likely be served a worse fate than death by the hands of our scientist." As if being introduced, Moira appeared at his side, a syringe in one hand, a purple orb floating in the other.
"Status, Shimada," Soldier commanded in his ear.
Hanzo sighed. "Okay. Just let Dr. Ziegler go. She can't breathe!" His words escalating as her movements slowly lost their vigor.
Doomfist only smirked as Angela's hands slowly dropped to her side.
Hanzo's frantic pleading quickly led to anger. "Put her down! I swear on my ancestors if you don't let her go -"
"You'll do nothing." Doomfist glared, but slightly loosened his grip on Mercy. "Nothing, except follow my men to your new cell."
Hanzo bit back a remark and followed the orders as slowly as possible, hoping that the other two would find a way soon.
