Past and Future Consequences

"Think about what you say! Your future will be ruined if you don't!"

"Don't fucking tell me what will and what won't happen! I make shit happen! You stand to the side and watch!"

The last words to him from Deku came into fruition and in a way, so did his. 34-year-old Katsuki Bakugo, known as Dynamight by the hero community. Perennial top ten hero in fan rankings, most villains caught in a single year since All-Might, most crimes solved, and the most violent hero since Endeavor. Many people would think that life is pretty good when in that position, not said man. He smashed his desk several times.

"How the fuck is create a bitch in the top ten but not me?!" He shouts at no one and everyone. His cowering secretary stands to the side, not risking answering. He growls, gripping his desk in anger. The newest fan polls came out today, and he dropped to 13th. 'How the fuck am I not number one! They fucking put those useless extras over me?!' One of those useless extras bounded through the door.

"Hey Bakubro, how's it hanging?" Ejirou Kirishima, known as Red Riot, number nine in this poll, asks with a smile. To which Bakugo responds by throwing a binder at him. Kirishima caught it. "Unmanly bro."

"Shut up Red Rocket! How the hell are you number nine in the polls?!" Bakugo shouts at him.

"Polls? You still check the fan ones?" Kirishima asks. Kirishima looks over to the cowering secretary. "Hey Ayame." The woman waves back before booking it out of the room.

"Of fucking course, I do!"

"They don't matter bro. It's just the fans having fun since Battle Fist ousted them as outlets for money and fame driven heroes to pursue instead of helping others and true heroism."

"Man Hands is just a scared little bitch who knows I would have taken number one from her!" Bakugo shouts again. Kirishima sighs. He walks around the desk. He looks at the computer screen.

"Not according to this poll. She's still number one."

"Horseshit."

"Alright, bro…" He sighs again. Kirishima walks to a chair on the other side of the desk. He sits down. "Listen… I get that you're competitive, but don't you think it's time to move on from the polls." Bakugo growls at him.

"Then what the fucking point if I'm not number one."

"To save people dipshit!" Kirishima shouts. "The point of being a hero is to make the world a better place around you. Not to win all the time. We have competitions like the quirk games or quirked sports for that. We help people, not for the fame, glory, or victory. We do it because-"

"Cut the Bullshit." Bakugo interrupts. "Spare me the holier than thou speech you give to children. There is no point to do anything in life other than to be the unequivocal best at it. If you ain't first, then you are sure as fuck last. That's how life is and always will be." Silence follows. Kirishima stares at Bakugo with a pensive look. Bakugo stares back with a hardened gaze. Kirishima sighs and looks away.

"Someday Katsuki, you will have to learn that people do not share your same viewpoint. Right or wrong doesn't matter if you don't listen to others. And if you don't listen to others, you are always right."

"Damn right I am."

"You're wrong man. And one day You'll be wrong for a bad reason, and when that day comes, don't come running to me when it crashes down on you."

Bakugo looks away. "Shut the fuck up Deku."

"You're calling me useless?"

Bakugo froze. He looks back up. Kirishima stares back. A beep from his phone. "Uhh sir… Pinky is on her way up and uhh… she looked very upset."

"Why is she here?" Bakugo asks. Kirishima panics a little.

"Shit, did I forget something today?" He asks himself. The doors shoot open. Mina Kirishima, known as Pinky, stands in between them. She is livid.

"Hey babe, I am sorry for whatever I forgo… shit that made it sound worse." Kirishima tries to play damage control. She ignores him. She walks straight to Bakugo.

"What do you-" He starts. She slaps him, hard. Both men reel back in shock. "What the fuck woman?"

"Babe what are you-"

"Did you do it?!" She shouts. Both men are confused.

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"You're trending on twitter, and not in a good way you pathetic dick!" She shows him her phone.

"What the fu…" Bakugo stops. He stares at her phone. On the screen, Trending: Dynamight tells Quirkless classmate to kill himself in middle school.

Izuku Midoriya has found a way to be a hero without a quirk. After All-Might told him no, he moped around for a bit. Two days later, All-Might showed up at his apartment and apologized to his mother and him for telling him no. All-Might then told them that from the notes that Izuku took in his notebook that he had some skill and potential in quirk analysis and research. He had contacted David Shield of I-Island and scheduled an interview to join the apprenticeship program for quirk study and research on the island. It also helped that his father was the head of engineering on I-Island. He took it immediately.

He exceled in a positive learning environment and honed his skills to graduate with a masters in Quirk Theory from I-Island University. Gained a mentor in David Shield and stopped him from doing something stupid. He gained a friend and sister in Melissa Shield who was also quirkless like him. He met and fell in love with his wife of eleven years, Hoshiko Midoriya (Prior: Zen'in). He helped her get out of an abusive familial relationship and to create a new one in their two children, Nanako and Toshinori. He decided to move back to Japan to help Toshinori Yagi who was aging. Battle Fist had hero duties that called a lot of her time away from her mentor.

Now twenty years from the initial meeting with All-Might, Izuku was the lead quirk analysis professor and quirk researcher at Musutafu Institute of Technology and Research. His work was based of the confusion from his two children both having quirks when their parents were both quirkless. Published and accredited, he was the first quirkless recipient of the Nezu Quirk Theory Award to a surprisingly majorly positive response. He felt like he was on top of the world. Until the unhappy past caught up with him.

"Professor Midoriya." A quieter but brilliant high-school girl with glasses from the back of the room speaks up. He turns from the white board.

"Yes, Miss Fuyuki?" He asks. She gulps.

"Is…did… Did you get bullied by Dynamight when you were younger?" She asks. Izuku was floored. Where the hell did this come from?

"W-What?" He asks, voice giving out more emotion than he wants. Fuyuki shrinks in on herself.

"I-I mean-"

"It's all over twitter teach!" A laid-back American transfer student says. Izuku rushes to his laptop which was playing the lecture slides he was showing. He opens his twitter. Sure enough it was there. Trending: Dynamight tells Quirkless classmate, Nezu Award winner Izuku Midoriya, to kill himself. Izuku clicks on the first video by a news outlet.

"If you want to be a hero so bad, take a swan dive of a roof and pray to be born with a quick in your next life."

Izuku closes twitter. He stares at the screen. His class watches him. Izuku didn't want this. He didn't want to be reminded of this. He has been doing so well to forget about Bakugo, about middle school, about who he used to be. His phone rings. He looks at it. His wife is calling him. Izuku looks up. "Class… Class is over. You are excused."

"Teach, are you-"

"Class is excused! Please leave!" He shouts. The students leaved slowly. This was all the conformation they needed. They slowly trickle out. Fuyuki stops by the door.

"Umm…" Izuku looks over to her. "I'm glad you didn't." She said. He stares at her. She bows then scurries out. Tears well up in his eyes. He answers his phone.

"Honey…" Izuku starts.

"Are you still on campus?" Hoshiko asks.

"…I am."

"I'm on my way."

"What about-"

"Yagi is getting them out of school right now. Kids have already started talking to them about it."

Izuku slowly nods. "I'll… I'll be in my office."

"Okay. I'll be there in twenty." A tense pause. "Izuku. I love you."

His tears fall. "I love you too." He hangs up. Izuku sits down. He leans forward and rubs his face. He watches his tears fall onto the floor. His despair turns into frustration and anger. He leans forward and back. He clenches his fists. "God!" He stands up. Damnit!" He kicks his chair. He angrily packs up and heads to his office. Trying his best to ignore the stares of his peers and students as they part the halls for him. He was always singled out for his quirklessness. He was bullied, belittled, and abused. This time though, it was for a different reason. People look at him like he was going to break, like he needed saving, like he couldn't handle this alone. He didn't like either.

Bakugo rushes to Musutafu Institute of Technology and Research. His inner monologue being among the variety of how this was all his fault for leaking the video now, how he was trying to destroy him for being what he could not. He was grasping at straws and his friends know it. Blasting over the skyline towards the college, he had one goal in mind, to destroy that useless waste of life, once and for all. His heart hurt, however.

"That was twenty years ago, who gives a fuck anymore." Bakugo's first words after seeing the tweet.

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" Mina shouts. Kirishima is watching the video appalled. "Those are your first words after seeing that?" She then mocks him. "Oh, it's been twenty years ago, I'm such a better man than I was then. Who cares anymore?" She punches his desk. "You were always a prick but this!" She points to the phone. "This just fucking proves that you are a terrible human being."

"Don't talk to me like that you bitch! Why does it matter what happened back then? No one gave a fuck then. Why do you give a fuck now?" Katsuki shouts back. Mina grinds her teeth.

"It means that-"

"If you had grown at all from this video, it wouldn't matter as much." Ejirou says. Both people in the room look at him. "If you had shown any form of remorse, any sort of caring, any sort of empathy or sympathy then it wouldn't have mattered as much because you know that this was wrong." He hands the phone back to his wife. He walks towards Bakugo. "But you didn't! You asked why treating another human being like you did here is such a bad thing, why it matters now!"

Bakugo stands up behind his desk. "Deku ain't human! He's a fucking-"

Ejirou shoves his desk to the side, breaking it against the wall. "Everyone is human dipshit! You don't get to decide who is and who isn't! Lacking a quirk doesn't make you a lesser species!"

"Why the fuck do you care?" Bakugo asks, taking a step back. He hadn't seen Kirishima this angry in a long time. Ejirou steps forward, pushing Bakugo against the wall.

"Because I am human too! I want to make the world a better place!" He punches the wall besides Bakugo's head. "That's what heroes do! And I should have seen that you were never one."

He liked Kirishima. A good man, a good hero, a good friend. Him telling Bakugo that he was never a hero, that hurt more than he will ever admit. Now Deku ruined it all. His phone was ringing and from his earpiece he knew it was his mom, then his dad, then his mom again. He ignored them. He was good at that. He saw the campus.

He landed in the middle of a courtyard. He glared at everyone while he stood up. People were taking photos and staring at him. A girl gasped. He turned to the girl. She squeaked and hid behind her backpack. He stalked over to her. "Where is Deku?"

"Wh-Who?"

"You know why I am here! Where is that pathetic piece of shit?!"

"Wh-Who?"

He growled and let off an explosion near her head. She jerked her head away, the glasses falling of her face. "You know damn well who! Now where-"

"Stop!" Bakugo could barely recognize the voice. He turned to see him. A green dress shirt with black slacks and shoes. Taller, stronger, and more confidant. Bakugo hated it. He turned to face Izuku fully. "Leave my student alone!"

"You." A tense pause.

"It's me." Izuku says. "Listen, leave her alone and we can go talk about this in my office." Bakugo stalks up to him. He reaches to grab Izuku's shirt. Izuku smacks his hand away. "Don't touch me!" Bakugo was now pissed. He grabbed Izuku by the collar.

"What gives you the right to tell me what to do?!" He spat. Izuku tries to push him away. "You are nothing compared to me! Now you try to leak a video to bring me down to your level! That's pathetic you worthless Deku!" Izuku pauses.

"What?"

"Are you fucking stupid?! You obviously leaked this video of us to try and destroy my hero career! You are just a jealous fuck who can't handle that I am on top and you're on the bottom!"

"Bakugo what the hell are you talking about?" Izuku asks. "I just watched the video this morning!"

"Horseshit!"

"It's true." The men looked over to the American transfer student consoling the Fuyuki. "Teach just watched it this morning then excused the class." Izuku took this moment to push Bakugo away. Izuku staggered back. Bakugo growls at the student then at Izuku.

"Likely story, trying to save your ass through a bullshit excuse like that! You were so obsessed with me maki-"

"Obsessed?! I am not obsessed with you! I wanted to forget you!" Izuku shouts. Bakugo takes a step backwards. "I fucking hated who I was back in those days, and it's all thanks to you! I truly believed I was worthless because of you! It took me two years to even think I had worth and ten years to fully recover mentally! I finally believe that I didn't deserve what you did to me! I am perfectly fine without you in my life! Now this pops up on the internet! You blast back into my life, making my pain and suffering all about you!"

The crowd was speechless at this passionate confession. Bakugo stares at him, trying to think over anything to say. Izuku stares back with angry and pain filled tears falling from his eyes. Bakugo decided that if he had no words, he would do what he did best, ignore his own problems, blame someone else, and fight that person. He stalks towards Izuku. Izuku backs up to the wall behind him. Several students move towards them.

"Please don't!" Izuku shouts to his students. "I don't want you to get hurt!"

Bakugo's eye twitched. He speaks in a low voice. "I'm a goddamn hero, I don't hurt people who don't deserve it."

"That's all you do! You are not a hero! You're a spoiled child, running around, pretending to be a hero!" Izuku shouts at him, bracing himself for the explosion. 'At least no one else will get hurt this way.' He thinks to himself. Bakugo launches.

Lighting cracks. Bakugo finds himself on the floor with his hands held together behind his back. Itsuka Kendo, known as Battle Fist: The Symbol of Hope, wraps Bakugo in black whip. She sighs. "This is over Dynamight." She says. Izuku opens his eyes. His wife runs to him, phone in hand. She hugs him.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She says. He stares at her.

"What the fuck are you doing Man-Hands?!" Bakugo shouts. More footsteps approach him. Battle Fist hoists him up. Ejirou and Mina are there with a couple police officers.

"Katsuki Bakugo," Itsuka Kendo starts. "Also known as Dynamight, you are under arrest for unaggravated assault, battery, illegal quirk use on campus grounds, threatening quirk usage for violence, and threatening a minor." Bakugo stares speechless. Izuku buries his head in his wife's shoulder. He cries.

"Top story tonight, Dynamight is sentenced to 50 years in a maximum-security prison with a chance at parole after year 30 of his sentence. This is taking into account the alledged suicide baiting that was leaked online earlier this week. According to lead detective Hitoshi Shinso, if he had been remorseful for his previous actions the video would not have been taken into account for the prison sentence. Investigations into Aldera elementary school and junior high are being conducted, along with an audit into UA heroics program. Many critics are calling for a more thorough background check for hero applicants. The man who endured this harsh treatment declined to speak with us-"

Izuku shuts off the TV. He tosses the remote to the other couch. He runs his hands across his face. He leans back and stares at the ceiling. Hoshiko stands over him, looking down at him. He reaches up and cups her face. She gives him a sad smile. "You have several more letters, asking you to comment." She tells him. His arm falls as he groans.

"I might take up Itsuka's offer." He says. Hoshiko walks around the couch to sit next to him.

"She would get people to shut up, that's for sure." She says, leaning into his side. He puts his arm around her. A silence falls on them. "What time does your parents plane land?"

"Eightish, I'll double check in a bit."

"I know you will get annoyed about them hovering over you, but I am glad they are coming. It will be good for you, them, and the kids to have them here for a little while."

"…You're right." He resigns to her.

"Can I get that in writing please?" They both laugh. Another laugh is heard. "To bed Nanako!" Little feet can be heard running to her bedroom. Izuku smiles. He stands up.

"I'll tuck her in." He says. He walks through the hallway to his daughter's bedroom. She tries to quietly close the door. Izuku gently barges in, scoops her up in his arms. She giggles and laughs as they fall onto her bed. She smiles at him. He smiles back. "Hi Firefly."

"Hi daddy." She giggles. Izuku sits up. He lifts up her covers.

"Under the covers sweetie." He says. She does so. He tucks her in. She points to her stuffed animal corner.

"Suka-san!" She exclaimed. Izuku smiles. He grabs her stuffed red panda and hands it to her. The girl hugs it tightly. Izuku sits on her bed. He brushes the hair out of her face.

"Why were you up Firefly?" He asks softly. She hides her face in the panda.

"I wanted to make sure you were okay daddy." She mutters. Izuku smiles. He kisses her forehead.

"Thank you. I just need some time and help from friends and family. But daddy will be okay." Izuku says. He starts to stand up.

"Why was Dynamight a hero if he was mean to you?!" Izuku froze. He sits back down. He stares forward, trying to think of an answer. He looks towards his daughter.

"He… Dynamight had a different definition of what a hero is sweetheart." Izuku says slowly.

"What does that mean?" She asks. Izuku thinks for a moment.

"When we were children, he had the strongest flashiest, and most eye-catching quirk. He thought that having that made him always right. The problem was that no one outside of his parents told him that he was wrong in his way of thinking. So, when no one tells you that you are wrong, you can never be wrong. Him hurting me… that wasn't wrong in his eyes… it was the way that things were because he was strong, and I was not." Izuku looks to Nanako. She was staring at the wall, thinking to herself. "Nanako…" She looks to him.

"Dynamight thinks that might, how strong a person is, equals right, they make the rules, and everyone has to follow. What he fails to understand is what I and many other heroes, like Battle Fist, think is the most important part of being a hero. Compassion. The ability to look at someone who is less fortunate, unlucky, or stuck in a bad spot and to help them out, guide them, to be there for them. That's what a hero is about, making the world a better place by helping one person at a time." Izuku smiles sadly. He rubs his daughter's face. "I wish Dynamight could have gained some compassion to help do so." Izuku stands up. "You should head to bed sweetheart. We have to drop you off at Grampa Toshi's house early tomorrow." He heads to the door.

"Do you think Dynamight was a hero?" Nanako asks. Izuku opens the door. Kids always ask the tough questions. He looks back to her.

"I used to when I was your age. I don't anymore." Nanako nods. Her hands turn the red panda. Izuku leans against the door frame. Nanako sits up. She hugs the panda to her chest.

"Do you think I could be a hero? A hero who helps make the world a better place?" Izuku smiles.

"You were out past bedtime to see if your dad was okay. I'd say you already are." Izuku says. "Good night, Firefly." He turns and shuts the door. Nanako smiles giddily. She dances her panda as she lies down. She hugs it to her chest.

"I'll be a hero daddy. I'll be your hero."

AN: The point of this story is to explore an interesting idea of hero culture and cancel culture plus show that Bakugo's growth would be extremely different without Izuku in his life to prove him wrong in such a huge way. Now with cancel culture I normally do not like it, but when a person has shown not grown at all from the initial incident or is actively not trying to grow, then consequences should be brought down on them. Bakugo's character is decent but I believe it could have been better. I understand what Horikoshi is trying to do, I just wish a couple different things that he would have changed. I don't hate Bakugo, but I don't like him. With that little showcase of my position on this fic, I just wanted to explore an interesting idea. As to who leaked the video, my thought was that one of Bakugo's old cronies from middle school did because he was jealous. Anyway, have a great day.
