[The fourth of September, 8 a.m. (Saturday)]
Jane woke up in her bed. She felt quite excited and nervous when she realized that she was going to buy her school supplies in the afternoon with Professor McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor House. But firstly, she needed to have her morning classes.
"Good morning, Professor Slughorn." she said as she entered the potions classroom.
"What a polite girl, sit down, sit down." he said, with a small chuckle.
She sat down beside her friends, and the lesson started. She enjoyed it thoroughly. This is just like our old chemistry class, she thought. There is only one difference between them. In Potions, we produce plenty of blown-up caldrons, while the chemistry class was much safer.
The morning passed quickly. After having lunch, she went to Professor McGonagall's office, where she was taught how to use Floo Powder. Firstly, it was put into the fire (which immediately turns green, adding a sense of mystery). Then the professor encouraged her to step into the fireplace. Jane was a little nervous, buts she took a deep breath and did as she was told. To her surprise, she could not feel the hotness of the fire.
"Diagon Alley." the professor said calmly. Jane suddenly felt herself falling downwards. She nearly screamed! When she looked down nervously, she saw that they were no longer in the fire. Instead, they were rapidly falling through a network of other people's fireplaces. She caught a glimpse of a man reading the newspaper in his couch, and a young woman playing with a dog. But before she had time to look at the next fireplaces, she fell (quite unprepared) onto the stone floor. "It was lucky that someone put a cushion charm on the floor," she thought as she stood up.
They got everything ready in a hurry. Jane stepped out of Prof. McGonagall's fireplace at 2 p.m. and went straight to her next class. This time, a toad was sitting quietly on her palms. It was her new pet called Sickle.
