Beth
"Do you think we're finally safe?" Beth whispered to Carol. Carol only shrugged her shoulders as she made sure all the guns were fully loaded.
"We're safe for now," Carol answered softly looking right to the Judith snuggled softly in Beth's arms. "We just gotta make sure we stay that way." Carol has a way of making everything feel okay but keeping a sense of reality to it. "Where did those bruises come from?" Carol questioned noticing a bruise that was on Beth's hip. When Daryl threw me off him my back crashed against the stone wall leaving me with a few bruises.
"I fell. Just happy I didn't have Judith in my arms," Beth lied smoothly as Daryl walked in the room. They hadn't said two words to each other since their conversation in the other cell block. Beth had made it apparent to only wear the good clean tank tops she had Incase he was looking. Too bad today was the first time she'd seen him since and she was covered in baby puke again.
"You got anything we can take on a run?" Daryl spoke to Carol making her laugh as she pointed to Beth. Beth only readjusted handed Judith to Carl in the other cell block before she returned.
"Few things," Beth answered walking into the pantry. Daryl slowly followed making sure to keep his distance. "Just gotta get them," Beth muttered standing on her tippy toes her shirt riding up just a little before Daryl cleared his throat making her stop.
"The bruise?" Daryl questioned as he pointed to himself easily grabbing the box of granola bars Beth had hidden from the younger kids when Lori was pregnant.
"Not really you. The stone is just a hard surface to land on," Beth reasoned grabbing four granola bars out. "I hid them for Lori," Beth explained shrugging her shoulders as they walked out. "When do you leave?" Beth questioned innocently as she walked back to her cell quickly changing her top.
"When Rick and Merle get back. We're just going to see what stores we haven't hit yet," Daryl explained walking up to his cot. "I'm taking a few new guys. That'll take an extra day at least," Daryl explained easily sitting back as he started cleaning his crossbow. a ritual for him before he goes on a run. Beth had learned all the runners had quarks. Daryl had the cleaning of the crossbow, and then there's always the overprotective nature he had, taking anyone new out made him nervous. Rick would obsessively knit pick everything making sure everything was as perfect as could be before heading out. Maggie liked to have a lot of sex before going on a run. The entire camp knew that.
"Rabbit stew?" Daryl questioned smelling the air. Beth laughed shaking her head as Carol started gathering the guns to take them back to the shed.
"I thought Rick and Merle would be home," Beth shrugged her shoulders as Carl walked outside with Judith. It was good for her to get sunlight. Beth just didn't think there was much to look at out there besides the walkers threatening out fences. "Who are the new Runners?" Beth questioned to keep the conversation going. She missed talking to Daryl.
"Tyrese and Sasha," Daryl answered easily. "Not to worried about them." He explained easily putting his crossbow back together. "You should go on a run," Daryl announced making Beth raise an eyebrow before shaking her head no.
"No," she said definitively. "I know how to kill the walkers, and I do. I don't want to be out there unless I have to. The world isn't a pretty place anymore, but maybe one day it can be," Beth explained stirring the pot of stress hearing Daryl scoff.
"Stupid girl," he almost hissed tossing his crossbow on his cot. "You think someone is always gonna be there to take care of your ass?" Beth froze hearing the anger in his voice. "News flash, Blondie, one day you'll be out there all alone, and ain't no one gonna take care of you!" Daryl grabbed his crossbow and stormed out seeing Maggie walk into the prison.
"What was that?" Maggie questioned Beth cautiously as she stood there simply confused. Why was he angry?
"He thinks it's smart for me to go on a run. I said no." Beth shrugged her shoulders. "I don't think he's used to people telling him no," she reasoned Maggie only shook her head no.
"It's cause we all think it's a good idea Beth. We asked him to take you if you wanted to go or not." Beth only narrowed her eyes at Maggie. "We need to know you can protect yourself Beth. What happens when the governor comes back?" Beth shook her head.
"Who all likes to talk about me behind my back?" Beth hissed glaring at her sister.
"No, talking about you and talking about your safety are different things. You'd be safe with Daryl you're just scoping some places out." Maggie tried to reason but Beth only rolled her eyes.
"Not like I get a damn choice," Beth hissed slamming her hands on the table going to her cell shutting the door behind her.
Daryl
"I'm not making her go," Daryl rolled his eyes as he walked with Glenn to collect any animals caught in his traps before a zombie got to it. Daryl knew Beth needed to go out there be taught some basic points of survival that isn't cooking or doing laundry or cleaning. She needed to learn how to kill, she needed to learn how to survive out there. Daryl did not want to be the one to take her.
"Maggie doesn't think she'll go out with anyone else. We just want to know she knows how and you're the best we know." Daryl rolled his eyes knowing Glenn was right. Daryl survived nine days in the woods as a child before all this shit went down.
"I won't make her go. I tried scaring her into it, that probably just made her cry though," Daryl hated that he was mean to her. They hadn't spoken since that night, and here he was being an ass to her. "I'll try to talk to her after I eat, but if she doesn't want to go I won't force her," he explained collecting a few rabbits from his traps walking back to the prison with Glenn.
"Look Beth I'm sorry," Maggie sounded like she was pleading. Cats out of the bag. "Can you please just come eat. No one will eat without the cook," Maggie motioned for the boys to sit at the bench where she had the rabbit stew served.
"Guess I better eat since I'm gonna get dragged out of here kicking and screaming," Beth hissed aggressively sitting across from Daryl as she took a bite of her food. "Is that what's gonna happen your gonna drag me out of her by my hair so you can teach me how to survive?" Beth hissed making Maggie pinch the bridge of her nose. They'd obviously been at this a while.
"I know you love jumping to conclusions," Daryl said taking a small bite of stew. "But no. do I think you're stupid, yes. I'll respect your reckless decision. So no I will not force you to go anywhere regardless of what Maggie says." Daryl heard Snickers from the side, obviously people had placed bets as to what Daryl's decision would be.
"Oh." Beth responded silently taking a bite of her stew. "I'm gonna finish in my cell," Beth answered getting to her feet leaving the crowded table. Daryl only shook his head no at Maggie.
"I'll get her. You know y'all gonna fight." Daryl reasoned getting to his feet walking over to his cell. He heard Beth let out a loud sign of annoyance only making him smile as he leaned on the frame giving her the same sign. "Let's go chit-chat," Beth only rolled her eyes but didn't object as she got to her feet following Daryl down the hall and into the separate cell block.
"What do you want from me," Beth finally exploded hitting Daryl in the chest making him drop his stew. "I act on something I don't think is bad and you basically toss me out. We talk about it then you ignore me, and when you do talk to me your a fucking dick!" she was almost yelling as she kept hitting Daryl. Finally he grabbed her wrists making her stop.
"I haven't been talking to you because all I can think about is your mouth," Daryl basically hissed letting go of her hands. "Personally I don't want to take you on a run, but I do think you should go on one." Beth seemed to raise her eyebrows at him.
"Lucky for you you don't have to deal with me cause I'm not going," Beth announced leaning against the cell wall. Daryl shrugged his shoulders as he leaves down to pick up the broken bowl.
"I'm not stupid," Beth whispered making sure it was noticed that she was effectively pissed.
"I'm not some guy that's going to force you to do anything you don't want to do," Daryl hissed back standing up so they were face to face. Beth looked taken aback by the fact that he was mad. "While we're on the subject of things that irritate me, why did you start wearing low cut tops?" Daryl was sweating now his eyes trained on the top of her breasts.
"Daryl," Beth whispered her tone changing from bitchy to soft, "I didn't mean anything by that. And in answer to your question, it got you to notice," Beth whispered rubbing his arm soothingly as he tore his gaze away from her breasts to her bright blue eyes. "Who else is going on the run?" Beth asked shakily. Daryl shook his head as he pushed himself off the wall away from Beth.
"Glenn and Maggie if I have any say," Daryl whispered running his fingers through his hair. Beth shook her head once again closing the distance between the two of them.
"Kiss me," Beth whispered making Daryl glance up confused. "Please?" Daryl's heart was beating so fast he thought it might explode out of his chest. He shouldn't. himself he wouldn't allow himself to go there with her. Daryl stumbled pushing Beth against the cold stone wall. Then suddenly he pressed his lips to hers gently at first opening her mouth slowly as she let his tongue explore her mouth.
Beth
It wasn't the kind of kiss Beth expected from Daryl Dixon. He started soft, gently as he opened her mouth easily letting his tongue explore the inside of her mouth. Beth had never been kissed like this before. Slowly Daryl pulled back placing his hands on her hips as tried stepping back. Beth only grabbed his shirt pulling him back.
"You can't tell me that kiss was just cause I asked for it," Beth panted out letting her hand fall to the growing bulge in his pants. "You wanted that as much as I did," she whispered lightly biting his neck. Daryl only let out a frustrated moan as he ran his fingers up her shirt gently tracing her skin.
"Maybe," Daryl whispered kissing her lips one more time before be stepped away. "Doesn't change the fact that nothing can happen. You need to get it through your head that you and me won't ever work out." Daryl announced before turning and walking out of the cellar walking quickly to his cot making sure to avoid Glenn and Maggie.
"Beth we're not trying to gang up on you," Maggie said soothingly once she came up.
"I get it. I don't want to go, and Daryl doesn't want to be bothered to teach me." Beth could feel Daryl's eyes shift to the conversation as he scoffed Maggie only rolled her eyes motioning for Beth to follow her.
"Okay Beth what is happening with you and Daryl?" Maggie changed her voice to a whisper once the got to Beth's cell. Maggie closed the sheet Beth had put up as a cutting for privacy. Beth only shook her head making Maggie roll her eyes. "y'all are always up here together, you give him special granola bars, he watches over you like at any moment something is going to try to get you and he's going to save you. So I'll ask again, what is going on with you and Daryl?" Maggie only raised her eyebrow making Beth give a sigh.
"Literally nothing." Beth groaned falling back onto her cot. "He thinks everyone will be pissed and look at him as someone like Merle if he even thinks about me. Which I might add is complete bullshit considering an age difference is the least of anyone's worries right now," Beth whisper hissed making Maggie narrow her eyes at Beth.
"Everyone is kind of already under the assumption something is going on," Maggie whispered raising her eyebrow as if she was waiting for Beth to tell her more. "Wait..." Maggie almost laughed to loud before she stifled her laughs. "When he moans your name at night?" Beth only raised her eyebrows. "Me and Glenn thought you two..."Maggie trailed off before pressing her lips together. "I'll talk to him," Maggie offered making Beth shake her head no.
"He's made it perfectly clear what he thinks of me. Like it or not it's just how it is. we can't avoid each other so I'll live with it. Now can you please get out. I just want to go to sleep." Beth muttered making Maggie give a sigh as she walked out of the cell walking back over to Glenn knowing he had night watch. Beth couldnt help the tears that.started pouring from her eyes, she knew there was a good chance the other people could hear her but she didnt really care.
"Can I talk to you," Daryl's voice was soft from outside the cell but Beth didnt answer him. "Beth, please?" Daryl almost whispered peaking his head in her cell watching her roll her eyes but make no objections vocally as he stepped inside her cell letting the makeshift curtin fall behind him. "I never meant to hurt your feelings," Daryl looked to the floor when he spoke refusing to make eye contact with her.
"Yeah well you did. It's all you've done the past couple of days." Beth snapped the tears still coming from her eyes. "That is unless you want something," Beth glared at him as he sat on the edge of her bed gently rubbing her leg.
"I don't know what to do with you when you're like this," Daryl whispered running his fingers through his hair.
"Just go, I'm not your problem." Beth hissed rolling over so she wasn't looking at him. Daryl only moved to rubbing her back hearing her breathing finally slow. "Why are you still here?" Beth whispered shoving her face in her pillow, she wanted to scream.
"I don't know," Daryl whispered looking into her tear stained eyes. "I don't like hearing you cry, and I hate that I'm the one that made you cry," Daryl admitted shrugging his shoulders. "Besides your not allowed to be mad at me before I go out in a run," Beth cracked a smile making Daryl smile in return.
