The last few years had brought forth changes to the Granger Family. It all started with their daughter, Hermione, of whom had been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when they were told she was magically gifted. It was a relief for both parents since it explained all the strange things that had happened around their beloved daughter. While they were initially hesitant to send off their daughter to this strange new world; it was better than the alternative. Erasure of memories was sure to cause problems later in life.

They knew their daughter was not the most sociable person and were naturally worried for her in her previous boarding school. An unfamiliar environment with an awfully slow to way to communicate back and forth. Luckily, she had found friends with a few of the other students; the closest of them being two young men, Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley. The Granger parents knew their daughter was hiding something when the girl returned home the first time. Hermione had become distant and a bit cagey at times. Something had happened; Emma had taken the task to find out what was wrong but could not get it out of her little girl. Instead, she had to listen to her daughter fret over her friend Harry for the majority of the summer until the boy arrived at her other friend's home. The second year, their daughter had fallen ill, and they were only alerted by an extremely vague letter. Upon Hermione's return, she told them she had gotten the magical version of the flu. Apparently, magicals were immune to the normal flu but had a much more potent version of it.

Emma and Dan were not too keen on believing her words. However, the note from the school nurse made them accept the explanation. Luckily for them, there was no repeat of Hermione being hospitalized for the next two years. The end of her fifth year had caused her to get hurt to the point where she was hospitalized inside St. Mungo's, Britain's premier magical hospital. The incident made them almost pull their daughter out of school after she got her OWL results.

It was the first time their daughter had thrown anything close to a tantrum. They attempted to calm her by stating she could transfer to the Australian school when they moved out of the United Kingdom. Dan had found a great spot near the beaches for their practice and home with the two buildings only a few minutes apart as well. The family had come to the agreement if something dangerous were to happened again, they would pack their things and leave the country as soon as possible. A decision Hermione begrudgingly agreed to.

The family had spent the summer reconnecting and the parents spent time listening to the many new things she had learned. They also listened to Hermoine constantly talk about Harry, making her parents wonder if she would ever make a move on him or would she outgrow her crush. Before they knew it, the summer was over and Hermione had to return to Hogwarts. Dan and Emma emphasized her staying safe and keeping her promise before she disappeared once more via the doorway to Platform 9 and 3/4.

Mail that had come the following weeks kept the Grangers in a good mood. Hermione was still a prefect; her classes were still as interesting as ever and they even got a new potions professor that did not have prejudices like their old one. Her friend Harry had been appointed as Quidditich Captain of the Gryffindor Team; something she was truly really happy about. She explained in her letters how much he deserved it with all the games he had won for the team after almost dying mid match multiple times. A professor cursing his broom, a rogue bludgers, and dementors.

On her day off from the practice, Emma was surprised to see Hermione had arrived home alongside one of her classmates. It was none other than Harry; the young man she had talking about for years. He who her daughter worried about over the summer and holidays, and the one Dan believed he was going to have to give the shovel talk to. Hermione burst through the door directing Harry in the guest room to rest with great haste, almost frog marching him there. Something Emma believed should have been questioned at the time; however, she had become quite overwhelmed when Hermione opened the floodgates.

Mother and daughter sat down in the den to discuss why Hemrione had come home. Emma was shocked by just how much she had not been told or been lied to. The first year her daughter had almost been killed by a troll, only to be saved by Harry and Ron. At the end of the year, she then went with the two to fight a possessed teacher. The second year she had been turned to stone by some giant magical snake, not sick with the flu. In the fifth year, she had almost been killed by an adult wizard that was part of a supremacist group that saw Hermione as an insect.

Hermione was not finished. She told her mother of Harry's numerous, and quite dangerous, trials at school. She explained how he was almost forced off his broom during a Quidditch match in his first go. His trials leading to killing the possessed professor to save himself simply by placing his hands upon the man. The great face off with the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets unleashed by the disembodied form of Tom Riddle being the Heir of Salazar Slytherin. The same creature that turned her into stone, and was later cured due to the efforts of the Herbology department. Finally, a truly gripping story of being tortured by a terrible professor, being Dolores Umbridge, along with the returned Dark Lord of whom killed his parents during his infancy, Voldemort. These events also led to the loss of his godfather: the same battle she was injured upon her return.

Emma listened in fear as her daughter explained how this so called, "Dark Lord," was on a relentless crusade to kill Harry was terrorizing the wizarding world. Emma did not understand why their headmaster thought Harry was the key to defeating this monster. Upon Dan's return back home, she told him to get make all the necessary preparations to move in haste. The urgency and fear in her voice made him begin with no questions.

Hermione had brought Harry back to meet her parents. He seemed extremely tired at the time but explained that he had already gotten his passport created by the goblins and would have access to his account in Australia. He was apparently very rich; his paternal side being old money in the magical world of whom had inherited the vast fortune from his now deceased godfather. They did not need to worry about providing for him, and Harry in turn offered to buy both the practice and house from them sell it to the bank. The price was not going to be an issue as he just wanted nothing left behind. Hermione really pushed for this, saying this was the fastest and most reliable way. The parents reluctantly agreed.

Even though they were told of Harry's wealth, Emma and Dan could not stop themself from being surprised when Harry returned later that day from Diagon Alley with over 400,000 Pounds. Hermione and Harry also returned with a large trunk. Inside had been magically expanded to fit all the furniture into the house. Dan had cracked a joke that he believed his back could handle moving all the furniture in one day. Hermione supplied she had a helper to move the furniture and then Dobby appeared. Harry spoke up for Dobby, saying they had hired him from Hogwarts and he would have everything packed up in a few minutes. The family only kept the bare minimum needed for travel.

Emma told Harry he was welcome to stay with them until he found his own place. He had seemed to want to disagree at the time until her daughter grabbed his hand and gave him a pointed look. After everything had been gathered for a last-minute planned flight, Dan had taken Harry away for a quick chat. The next morning, Emma, Dan, Hermonie, and Harry were on a flight to Australia. Harry procured a window seat beside Hermione, for it was his first flight. Emma had watched in amusement when the young man fell asleep against Hermione. She had felt a bit of happiness knowing her daughter finally began dating and it was with someone she clearly cared about a lot.

After they had landed, the group checked into a hotel in Bronte, one of the suburbs of Sydney. Within the next few days, Emma and Dan had begun finishing the deal for the house and practice whilst Harry and Hermione explored the magical sites nearby. The pair would start school again when the next term starts. They had sent their OWLs results to the school and would have to do some placement tests also. Emma had already seen the books Hermione had brought home and knew there was going to be a ton of studying.

Once they were settled in their house a few weeks later, a very familiar owl approached their house. It was Hedwig gliding in; her wings extended and eyes fixated upon her destination. Harry had been excited to see his faithful companion, whilst at the same time wondering why she had come. Harry had left her in the care of the Weasley's prior to moving with the Grangers. Hedwig did not come through the window and instead decided to stand outside on a sturdy tree branch.

Emma found Harry talking and petting the owl very delightful to see. Dobby popped into existence and told Harry that his familiar had tracking charms on her earlier. Dobby had stopped her earlier today to remove the charms off her but could not remove the charms from the letter stuck to her. Harry stopped the house elf from apologizing and said they would figure it out. Harry then pulled out his wand and convinced Hedwig to come sit on the windowsill. Hermione moved to help with the removal process allowing them to be done within a half an hour. Hedwig held her leg out to give the letter; one Hermione quickly took to read. She told Harry it was just the Weasley family being noisy and wondering where they were. Harry extended his arm for Hedwig, of whom moved herself coming into the house whilst looking around at the new environs.

Everything seemed to be going so well for a while until one day Hermione refused to not come out of her bathroom. Emma could not think what she might have come down with and decided to stay home the second day. Harry had been given some groceries to purchase from the market in the meantime. All throughout the day, Emma had a possible idea of a particular issue might be. She had seen the two cuddled up in the bed a few times over the past couple of days as Harry had become her chief source of comfort. Emma waited patiently for her daughter to come out to no avail. Her stubbornness was legendary, and absolutely refused to capitulate to her mother's pleas. Some time passed and Emma opened the door, as any normal muggle parent would do sensing their child is in trouble. She found a trunk full of potions all labeled with dates made for Harry. Near the sink was a notebook with all of Hermoine's seeming to contain her notes and thoughts. A mother and daughter shouting match begun over the latter's breach of privacy. Hermione had said Harry was not listening to her and she had to do what was necessary to save him.

Hermione relented briefly explaining to her mother quite the elaborate tale. Once an older classmate of theirs had almost been killed, she was determined to keep her promise to her parents. She did not want to leave Harry behind, and him being the equally stubborn type, knew he would not come willingly. Hermione told her mother that Harry had some form of savior complex and he had learned of this so-called prophecy that he could only take down this monster from their headmaster. She knew Harry would never back down from this fight no matter how dangerous.
Hermoine, of whom had now befriended Dobby, expressed the need to get Harry to safety. The house elf had been reluctant at first, but Hermione had easily worn him down. She had the elf prepare Harry's plate to make sure the other elves did not interfere with the potion douses he needed. She explained it two weeks because she did not need such a drastic change in him or people would have noticed.

Escaping Hogwarts was a simple task for the pair. It had not been the first time they had left the school grounds. Dobby had taken them to Heathgate; Apparating them one at a time. They had been taken into a more desolate part of the suburb, allowing the pair to walk back to the family home. Hermione had been taken first, while Harry second since he was under a heavy dose at the time.

The shouting match between Emma and Hermonie broke something in the former. She knew her daughter could be controlling at times and bossy. Yet this was well beyond anything she thought her little puckle was capable of. Where had she gone wrong? What made her little girl drug her best friend to make him compliant enough to move across the world with her? She wanted to blame the wizarding world but she should have questioned more about what was happening at her school. Not letting her child just dump all her trauma in one day. She had noticed Harry had built up a resistance to the potions and sometimes had moments of wanting to go back to the United Kingdom. She had announced she was pregnant and planned to tell him later today.

Hermione called the practice to inform Dan and Harry that she needed to tell them something important later tonight. Harry had been helping the Grangers at the pratice few days of the week, he needed something to do since Dobby did all the cleaning around the house. Harry did come to an agreement to share cooking duties with the elf.

Harry gave Hermione a crushing hug upon hearing the news. Emma watched how the young couple held each other; Hermione rubbing the top of his head. They talked about what kind of home they wanted until Harry noticed Emma. Hermione had to explain her mother already knew before Harry could start blubbering from shock. Emma was still recovering from what she learned and just nodded to when Harry explained he was going to marry Hermione. Hermione led Harry away, leaving her distressed mother with Dan to process this wealth of information.

Dan's reaction to the news had been to take a walk. Emma followed him, not saying much apart from the occasional one-word answer until they reached the beach. They sat at one of the bench's, talking about how magic had basically uprooted their life and almost taken their daughter. Now they were going to be grandparents soon. It had been a lot for all of them to deal with the past few weeks. Yet they were not going to crack, and knew they all needed to stay together as a unit.

A year elapsed with Emma looking at Harry playing with his children. Hermione had given birth to twins; a boy, and a girl. Jimmy and Jean. He adored them both regardless of what Hermione did to him, he still loved her and their children. Emma never told Dan. Her husband thought everything had happened naturally. Sure he had been somewhat upset about the pregnancy, but he was quick to get over it. To him, Harry had used a lot of his own resources to help keep Hermione safe. He still liked the young man and Harry was practically a son to him at this point. He was family to them all and Emma didn't have it in her to ruin this perfect image they had. Didn't the two young adults deserve some form of happiness?
