DORMS!! Who would agree to such insanity? After the events of the USJ, I don't feel comfortable leaving Izuku to the heroes. Why did the students need to protect their teachers? They're pro heroes. They should be protecting their charges not the other way around. Erasurehead is the only hero with my respect, because he fought until he almost died. Zuzu says he almost lost his eye, which could have ended his career, but his students were in danger. Aizawa never gave up protecting people and that's what a hero should be.
FLASHBACK
I knocked on the door of the infirmary and Recovery girl waved me in. Izuku was in a bed drifting into unconsciousness, so I only get a basic summary before he fell asleep.
Walking across the room, I stood by the bed of a man covered in bandages. He looked to be asleep.
'Maybe I should just go. He probably won't appreciate being bothered anyway. I turned to walk away, but felt a finger brush my wrists.
"Do you need something," a voice struggles to whisper. It takes me a second to register that it is from Eraser.
I took a step closer to the bed and cleared my throat. "My name is Izumi and I... I wanted to thank you for saving Zuzu. I know it's your job, but he's my brother and I wouldn't feel right if I don't at least acknowledge my gratitude. I'll leave you alone now. Sorry for disturbing you."
"Wait," his voice was strained, as he leaned up a bit to talk better. "You're problem child's sister?" At my nod, he asked me to sit. After an hour of talking, Aizawa's eyes started to droop.
"I better go. You need rest to heal properly," I said, standing up. Before I exited the divider, I decided to do something stupid. "Thank you again, sir," I said, before kissing his cheek and scrambling away, never noticing his bandaged hand covering his blush.
"Mr. All Might," Mom begins saying, but I cut her off.
"Izuku has always wanted to be a hero. But how can he be if you so called pros can't keep him alive until graduation? You will not be taking my brother away. I do not and will not trust you." I ignore said boy's shocked look and muttering, in favor of staring down All Might. "Listen, Small Might. Oh hush, Zuzu. If he moves into a dorm, so am I. You have proven yourself incapable of protecting your students so I'll do it. Do we have an agreement, Mr Yagi?" All Might's eyes widen, terrified at the mention of his birth name, before he steps out to speak with Nezu, the psycho lab rat principal. Several minutes pass before he returns. "Nezu said that he will have an extra room added for your accommodations, Ms. Izumi."
"Ummm... All Might. Zumi won't get along well with the girls, so putting her near them isn't the best idea. And her quirk is really powerful but dangerous so please have her close to Mine or Mr. Aizawa's room, in case we need to stop her." He nods and walks down the road.
FIRST NIGHT IN DORMS
(TEMPORARY AIZAWA POV)
As I'm heading upstairs to my room, Problem Child stops me. "Sir, where is Zumi's room located?"
I can see his worry, but don't understand the reason behind it. "Midoriya, her room is on the top floor, directly above your room and across from mine. What has you worried, Problem Child?" He's hesitant, but reluctantly answers me.
"I doubt anyone explained her quirk to you, because it was classified as villainous. She uses elemental chaos, an ability to create and manipulate golems differing for each element. The drawback is that overuse stimulates an emotional response. Her nightmares are bad, sir, and even Mom can't get near her in that state. Her quirk lashes out at any perceived threat. But don't worry, she won't hurt me intentionally or otherwise. And you can erase her quirk to help protect the students. Just don't get too close. Good night, Sensei." This young man has faced villains yet is scared of his sister having a nightmare? How odd.
Two hours later, I realize why.
I step out of the bathroom, shirt on my shoulder, fresh from a shower, when I hear a muffled scream. Bolting out the door, across the hall, I see smoke leaving Izumi's room. I burst in to see her in the middle of the bed, eyes glazed surrounded by a plethora of creatures: flaming dragons, brick wolves, dolphins made of water, and a variety of birds in air.
"Shh, hey, Izumi. You're okay. I need you to focus on my voice and try to breathe to calm down. I'm coming in, alright." I continue talking to her and with each step closer to the bed, the animals circle around me, closing in but not attacking. At the edge of the bed, I reach my hand towards her in offering. She grabs my hand and immediately collapses forward, into my chest. I just pull her in my lap and hold her close to me, drifting off, when the door opens. Izuku gasps at the sight before him: me shirtless, holding his little sister, surrounded by her protectors. With a single tear rolling down his face, he whispers, "Thank you, sir, I understand now. Protect her."
Unsure of what is going through his head, I lay down in Izumi's bed pulling her closer. That's how we woke up the next morning, staying there while I explained the nightmare.
Visiting each other soon becomes our nightly routine, creatures and all. I even gave her permission to use my given name since she's not technically a student; she lets me call her Rose.
SHIE HASSAIKAI PLANNING
"Why is there a teenager in our meeting? We are talking about a rescue mission not simple patrols. We already have enough children involved," Endeavor, always the dramatic one, exclaims the second he sees me. I raise an eyebrow as the room falls silent. Shouta is failing to suppress his smirk and Midnight is openly grinning.
"Enji Todoroki, I'm sixteen and the ONLY thing you are better at than me is abusing your family. So you have two options. One, keep your comments to yourself. Two, I make you keep your comments to yourself." His pride chooses option 2, giving his ego a very public beating, but gaining my place in the room and mission.
SHIE HASSAIKAI AFTERMATH
I'm sitting beside Zuzu as he sleeps, the idiot. I ought to beat him myself. Challenging that monster in a man's body, fighting with a child on his back, continuously breaking bones; I'm starting to think the heroes arent to blame, it's just Zuzu overusing his new quirk without proper training.
Leaving the infirmary, I go to my dorm. The door next to mine is cracked and I hear a soft crying. Pushing the door open, I see a little girl curled up on the floor. Her long pale hair hiding her appearance except a little horn poking out. I knock on the frame to make myself known. Her head shoots up, tears on her puffy cheeks. "Mr. Deku." I catch her as she jumps. "Deku? Oh, Izuku! That's my brother. I'm Izumi, but you can call me Rose."
Her face lights up, "You're Zumi Rose! Mr. Deku and Mr. Aizawa both told me about you. They say you are nice." She just nods, as agreement I guess.
A throat clears behind me. Shouta is leaning on the door frame, smiling at us. "What?" He just shakes his head and walks over to take Eri from me. As he walks towards the door again I'm confused. "Where are you taking her?"
"Rose, its getting late and she needs sleep." I raise an eyebrow and look at the bed, thinking I may lose Eri. "Come on, let's go to bed. After today, I don't want to risk either of you having a nightmare." Confusion and hurt are replaced with joy. So, he wasn't taking her away, just bringing her with us.
Tonight, Sho holds both of us while we sleep, protecting us from threats both real and subconscious. It could be my imagination, but I swear, I felt him kiss my forehead softly.
CLASS 1A CONCERT (TEMPORARY AIZAWA)
I look around the room, but I can't find Izumi. She wouldn't miss the class performance, would she? With only seconds to spare, I see her slip behind the curtain, with Eri?
"HEY, LISTENERS, LET'S GIVE IT UP FOR ALL THE HARD WORK OUR CLASSES HAVE PUT INTO THEIR PERFORMANCE! ONE FINAL EVENT BEFORE WE GO... GIVE IT UP FOR IZUMI ROSE AND ERI-CHAN." Her voice is captivating, stunning everyone to silence.
*MUSIC, SKIP IF YOU WANT TO*
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart.
Without saying a word you can light up the dark.
Try as I may I could never explain what I hear when you don't say a thing.
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me.
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me.
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall.
You say it best when you say nothing at all.
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near you drown out the crowd
Old Mister Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
You say it best when you say nothing at all
*MUSIC ENDS*
The performance shocks me, but I wasn't the only one.
While Rose sings, Eri is dancing with dozens of butterflies ranging four colors and materials, Rose's quirk at play. Without a worry in the world, she twirls and jumps, smile wide on her face. Mirio and Midoriya look happy to see Eri's smile and happiness, Problem Child is nervous. Oh, right! He's scared of Izumi's quirk. He looks reluctant to say anything though, probably trusting Izumi's judgement and control. Still a little reassurance won't hurt.
"Hey, Midoriya, they're safe. I'll step in, only if necessary," I tell him. He nods in thanks then smiles.
"I know you'll protect them, Sensei. The whole class can see why. But I don't think you or Zumi have figured it out yet," he replies, calmly. At my confused look, Mirio bursts into laughter, causing a few people to turn our way for a moment. "Mr. Aizawa, the whole school knows why. If you don't, then you really are oblivious," Mirio says with a shrug. I look back at my girls, noticing neither the two teen boys leave me standing alone or my claiming of both girls.
ONE MONTH LATER
A terrified scream rings throughout the dorms.I shoot out of bed and into the next room, scooping up a sobbing Eri.
"Hey, shush, it's okay. I've got you. You're okay. No one can hurt you here. Remember, you have protectors now. We won't let anyone hurt you," I try to reassure her. Shouta is standing in the doorway, yawning. He must have reacted to her scream, too.
He walks over to us, placing his hand on Eri's back. "We'll protect you, always." I start humming a lullaby and slowly, her tears stop. She's almost completely asleep in our arms, when her small voice whispers, "Goodnight Mama, Papa, I love..." And like a light, she was out. I lay her back in her bed, turning and gesturing Sho out of the room and back to our separate ones.
THE NEXT DAY
Eri doesn't seem to remember her slip up last night, but it did get me thinking. Eri is an orphan, so I set up a meeting with Nezu, during Recovery Girl's weekly check up. Overhaul really did a number on her poor body, he better be glad he fought the tame Midoriya.
"I want Eri. What do I need to do to adopt her? Please, sir, I love her and... please let me keep my little girl," I beg him, but am stunned by his reply.
"Ms. Midoriya, you're the second person to come to me with this request, today. I'm already having the paperwork drawn up for Aizawa." Sho was here? "It seems he likes being called Dad, and came first thing this morning. I believe he said you were 'being Mom' and getting her ready, so I added you as her adoptive mother."
I leave Nezu's office, excited. I'm getting a daughter! Shouta, I need to talk to him, later. Picking up Eri, we return to the dorms and make lunch for everyone. After lunch, Shouta kisses Eri's forehead, my lips and leaves quickly, before I can react.
He stays busy all day.
LATER THAT NIGHT
I hear a knock on my bedroom door and check my clock, 12:17 AM . Who is even up at this hour? Eri just walks in so whoever it is, I'll just ignore them.
After a minute, another knock, so I walk over to the door. Upon its open, Aizawa is standing in his pajamas staring at the floor. Nervous? "Hi, Sho. Come in. Is something wrong?"
He doesn't speak for a minute, then turns to me slightly embarrassed. "It's stupid, really. It's just that you didn't come by like usual, and... nevermind. Goodnight, Rose."
"Sho? Stay for a little while, please. You don't have to rush out unless you want to." Shouta smiles a small, somewhat conflicted, smile before laying down beside me on the bed.
"I'm sorry for kissing you. I got caught in the moment. The excitement of getting a daughter, you bringing my class lunch and acting so nice after everything that's happened... I shouldn't have done it though. Not without permission at least."
"Do you regret it?" If he does, then oh well. But if he doesn't regret it, he shouldn't apologize. He shakes his head no. "Then why apologize? I certainly won't." He looks up at me sharply, so I shrug and lean forward to kiss him.
He barely hesitates before wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into his lap. Leaned back against the headboard, I feel his fingers running through my hair. How often did he do this after I fell asleep, just held me close and played with my hair?
Pulling away just a bit, he whispers in my ear, "I love you, Rose. Be mine?"
