For eight hundred years, Norrisville High has been protected by a Ninja. No one knows that every FOUR years, a new warrior is chosen. But even HE doesn't know that he won't be the only ninja around town anymore. He is the Ninja, he is Randy Cunningham, and they are the Norisu Nine.
Randy didn't know how to explain it. Nearly every night after the Sorcerer was defeated, he's been having this weird dream where he was surrounded and fighting monsters.
But that wasn't the weird part. The TRULY weird part was the fact there were eight other people fighting alongside him, each one dressed in similar Ninja Suits of varying colors.
Randy couldn't tell who each of them were since the eye holes of their masks were covered in shadow and their voices were heavily distorted, ranging from muffled mumbles to the deepest voices known to man.
Try as he might, he just couldn't manage to wrap his head around this dream, like why was he having it, what is causing this? Hoping to get some kind of an answer, Randy told his best friend and confidant, Howard, about this dream while they were at Greg's Game Hole, hoping to see what he thought about it.
Unfortunately for him, Howard turned out to be… completely useless, as he normally is.
"Did you start taking crazy pills or something, because honestly this whole 'other ninjas' thing is kind of bogus. There's only ONE Ninja of Norrisville, and right now, that Ninja, is you my friend."
As Howard pressed away at the console's buttons, Randy pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. He should've known this would happen.
"I'm telling you, Howard, it was real. It felt like I was ACTUALLY there, kicking butt alongside other ninjas."
Suddenly a car burst into the Game Hole, and out of it came some guys in crude facsimiles of Randy's Ninja Mask. The thugs then pointed their guns at Greg, commanding him to take the money in his register and put it in some bags.
"Looks like it's Ninja time."
Randy ran towards the bathroom so that he could change, but stopped and turned back to Howard for a brief second.
"We are not done talking about this."
Once he was in the bathroom, the thugs got back into their car and started to drive off, only to hit the brakes once Randy, now in his Ninja Suit, appeared in front of them in a cloud of smoke as he shouted "Smoke bomb!"
"Okay, while I appreciate my fans doing whatever they can to show their love and appreciation for me, there's got to be better ways than robbing a place in my likeness."
The thugs said nothing as they got out of the car and pulled out their guns, shooting at Randy. In response, he pulled out his sword and started blocking the bullets.
"Ninja block! Ninja block! Ninja block! Ninja block!"
Randy then pulled out his Ninja Rings and tossed them at the guns, knocking them out of the thug's hands, forcing them to get in close. Despite them trying their best, Randy still managed to hand them their butts on silver platters before knocking them all out and tying them all together using his Ninja Chain Sickle.
As a crowd of people cheered, Randy made his exit the same way he came into the scene, with a smoke bomb.
"Smoke bomb!"
Later that week at school, Randy was collecting his things from his locker, thinking about how he and Howard were going to be playing Grave Puncher the entire afternoon once he got to his friend's house.
However, his thoughts soon wandered into thinking about those thugs in the fake Ninja Masks. Seeing them again the day after they robbed, he could chalk that up as coincidence, but seeing them throughout the ENTIRE WEEK? At that point, that's just a pattern.
Okay now that he thinks about it, maybe Randy should do something searching around the city to see if he can find the thug's hideout.
But just as he reached the bottom of the entrance stairs, he ended up running into Theresa.
"Hey Randy."
Randy fumbled his words a little before he gave a coherent sentence.
"Theresa hi. What uh, so what brings you, here?"
"I was just wondering if you'd like to head over to PJ McFlubbusters for a bite tonight."
Theresa's eyes widened and her face turned red once she realized the implications of what she just said.
"N-Not as like a date or anything, j-just as friends. You know?"
Randy got a blush on his face as he too got to the same initial conclusion as her and nodded yes.
"Great, see you there."
And with that, she took her leave. Randy sighed wistfully as he watched her walk away, noting the cute little bounce her ponytail did from time to time. The thrum of the NinjaNomicon soon snapped Randy out of his thoughts, causing him to pull it out and hide inside a nearby bush.
"Oh hey Nomi-cuz, guess who just managed to score himself a date? Well, it's not REALLY a date, Theresa seemed pretty adamant about that, but it's still a moment of just me and her. So if you're going to shloomp me to give me some date advice, I'll gladly accept it."
Opening the pages, Randy was drawn into the Realm of the Ninja and was shown a woman confessing her love to a Ninja, only to break down crying after he rejects her. Text soon appeared, which Randy read aloud.
"Sometimes the only way to protect someone is to hurt them?! First off, what the juice, NinjaNomicon? Second, what the JUICE?! First you tell me that I can't be friends with Howard, now you're saying that I can't pursue romance either? Oh that is just all KINDS of wrong!"
Randy walked away towards a nearby cliff.
"Normally I'd be all half-you half-me, but just this once I'm going full me."
And with that, Randy leapt from the cliff and returned to his body, placing the NinjaNomicon back into his satchel as he exited the bush in annoyance.
"Stupid Nomicon, thinking it can dictate how I can live my life."
"Cunningham you BAILER!"
A couple hours ago, Howard got a text from Randy saying that he couldn't make it to their usual game session of Grave Puncher because he was going out to eat with Theresa. And now here he was, sat in his bean bag chair, not having fun with his game.
"Stupid Cunningham, stupid Theresa, taking my best friend like the crook that she is."
Soon a knock came at the door. Howard ignored it, hoping it would go away since he wasn't in the mood to answer. Unfortunately life isn't always that simple as the knocks persisted, intensifying as the seconds passed. Fed up with the knocking after about fifty seconds had passed, Howard got up and went to answer.
"WHAT?!"
His anger and annoyance soon faded away once he opened the door and saw a bunch of guys he never saw before, cocking an eyebrow in confusion.
"Uhhh, can I help you?"
The man in the middle was the first to speak.
"Are you by any chance Howard Weinerman?"
Howard looked at the group and made a mental note of how he was most likely going to regret this.
"Maybe. Who's asking?"
As if on cue, the group put on some very familiar Ninja masks before grabbing Howard and stuffing him into a bag, not giving him a chance to try and run.
Back at Pj McFlubbusters, Randy and Theresa were looking over their menus when the former suddenly received a text. Upon reading it, Randy's eyes widened in shock before looking over to Theresa.
"Hey listen, I have to use the bathroom real quick. Feel free to grab us some appetizers if someone comes by."
And with that, he made his exit. Oh, right, should probably mention what Randy got. He had received a text including a picture of Howard tied to a chair with two thugs wearing fake Ninja masks holding metal bats behind him. The message also said that if he wanted to see his friend come out unscathed, then he'd better bring the Ninja before the sun rose.
"Smoke bomb!"
Randy appeared on the roof of the empty building where Howard was being held. Climbing through one of the windows, Randy overheard one of the thugs interrogating Howard.
"For the last HONKING time, you brat. Who. Is. The Ninja?"
"How should I know, I mean the guy always just poofs in, does his Ninja work, then poofs on out."
Howard ended up getting smacked because of that.
"Don't play dumb with me! In case you forgot, you and that kid with the hoodie were at every single place we tried to rob. As soon as we tried to leave, that kid leaves and the Ninja shows up. There's a connection between you three, and I'm gonna find out what that is."
Randy dropped down behind the thug and stripped him of his mask.
"Looking for me, boys?"
The thug quickly turned towards Randy.
"Ninja, so glad you could make it. Hey kid, be thankful your friend had the brain cells to contact the Ninja, otherwise you'd be pretty shoobed right now."
Turning his attention back to Randy, the thug continued.
"Now, here's how things are going to go. You stand there like an idiot while we pound your face in, does that sound good to you?"
"Sorry street thugs, but getting my butt kicked isn't in my schedule. YOUR butts getting kicked on the other hand, very much is."
Angered, the main thug swung his pipe at him. Predictably, Randy dodged the attack and clocked the thug in the face. The other thugs started ganging up on Randy, but much like their leader before them, they all got floored.
"Took you long enough. Also, you mind telling me why you CHOSE THERESA OVER OUR GAMING SESH?!"
Randy sliced the ropes holding Howard to the chair.
"Are you seriously THAT cheesed over me not wanting to hang out with you for ONE day?! Remember when you bro-dished with Bucky, Dave and Pradeep? You were totally okay with me not hanging out with you back then."
"Yeah, but that was because I had other bros to hang with. And thanks to you acting like a shoob and getting them to quit hanging out with me, you're my only bro, bro!"
"Ugh! Look, just because I didn't want to hang out with you tonight doesn't mean I don't want to hang out with you ever again. You're my best friend, and I'd never purposefully ditch you if I can help it. Now, you start heading out, I'll catch up. Just need to put these guys through the Ultimate Lesson before I smoke bomb out of here."
Howard stared at Randy for a couple seconds before sighing in annoyance.
"Fine, but you're GOING to make up for this, I hope you know that."
Outside of the building, Randy de-suited once he met up with Howard in a nearby alley.
"You done, good. Because we've got some graves to punch, come on, Cunningham!"
"Sorry, Howard. I have to get back to my thing with Theresa."
Howard groaned as he turned to Randy.
"Seriously? What about her is so important that you went and chose her over me?"
Before Randy could answer, he and Howard heard a voice.
"O. M. Gosh. Randy?"
Randy slowly turned towards the source of the voice, his eyes shrinking once he saw Theresa standing there.
"Theresa… hi. Uh, wasn't expecting to, um, to see you here. What uh, what brings you here?"
"This is why you left early? Because you're the Ninja?! Holy cheese, this explains so much. Looks like Debbie was right after all."
"What what? I don't-pfft, please. I'm not the Ninja."
"But I saw you, I saw you put the suit on as I was about to give you this."
At that moment, Theresa pulled out Randy's phone from her pocket and handed it to him, his face falling once he realized his mistake.
"Wow, you really shoobed up now. I KNEW you going out with her was a bad idea." Howard whispered to Randy.
Just as Randy looked like he was about to panic, Theresa put a hand on his shoulder to try and calm him down.
"Hey, there's no need to panic. I'm not going to tell anyone."
Theresa shyly looked away as she began to blush.
"Plus, I need to get something off my chest. For a long time, I've always thought you were a great guy. I mean you're kind, dorky, and yes, awkward, but that's what makes me like you so much. It's because you're always you, without even trying. The Ninja things just a bonus."
Randy's eyes widened again as a blush came across his face and Howard rolled his eyes in disgust. Randy blinked a couple times before his brain began to function properly again.
"Wait, wait a honking minute are you serious? Because, well… I kind of, maybe, also…"
"OH JUST SPIT IT OUT ALREADY!" Howard yelled in annoyance.
"I REALLY LIKE YOU TOO!"
Randy and Theresa both blushed once they both fully understood what the former just said. After a brief silence, Theresa was the first to speak up.
"Does that mean you're my…"
"Yes."
"And I'm your…"
Randy's eyes sparkled as he gave his answer.
"Yes."
The two grinned as they stared lovingly into each other's eyes in a moment that seemed like it would last forever.
"Sorry I bailed on you at PJ's, want to come over to my place to make up for it?"
Theresa nodded.
"Sure. Oh, before I go though, could I get a picture of you in the Ninja suit?"
Randy complied and put the suit on as Theresa watched his transformation in awe. However, just as she took the picture, she pulled a fast one on Randy and kissed him on the cheek.
Randy stood there frozen as Theresa giggled to herself as she looked at the picture before pocketing her phone and turning to leave.
"See ya around, Randy."
Snapping out of his shock, Randy quickly de-suited and got in front of Theresa.
"Theresa wait! Me and Howard were planning on going to Greg's tomorrow, and I was wondering if you wanted to, y'know, join us?"
"WHAT?!" Howard cried out as Theresa accepted the invite and walked away. Howard then walked up to Randy and glared at him.
"What?"
"Why did you invite Fowler to come with us to Greg's?! I thought Greg's was an us thing!"
Randy rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Oh come on, Howard, it's not that bad. Plus we've already hung out with her before when we sat at Der Monster Klub's table that one time, so we already know what she's like. Anyways, I need to head back home. See you tomorrow at the Hole."
And with that, Randy took his leave as Howard stood there in the alley.
"You're still gonna need to make up for not playing Grave Puncher with me today, I hope you know that!"
Later that night at Randy's house, he and Theresa were in his room watching a movie, during which time he told her everything that happened since he became the Ninja.
"So let me get this straight. All of the robots that attacked Norrisville High were sent by McFist, who all this time was your arch-enemy? And he was working for this guy named the Sorcerer, who was responsible for everyone getting turned into monsters, myself included, and that he was sealed beneath the school in an ancient pit?"
Randy shrugged his shoulders at that.
"Pretty much, yeah."
"Wow. You know I had my suspicions that there was more to McFist, but I honestly didn't think he was hiding this much. Really puts the guy in a whole new light doesn't it?"
"Trust me, me and Howard were just as shocked as you were when we found out."
The two then spent the rest of the night talking, doing some cuddling, you know, the usual things couples do when they're together. After some rounds of Grave Puncher, Theresa left Randy's house. During her walk home, she looked at the selfie she took hours earlier and smiled as she held her phone to her chest, a small skip in her step as she anticipated whatever lied ahead.
Elsewhere, in the Sorcerer's Hole, the sound of digging could be heard before the tip of a shovel pierced through one of the dirt walls, a young teenage boy soon poking his head out of the resulting hole.
"Perfect."
After making the hole bigger, the boy carefully made his way over to the center of the hole, smirking as he looked at what he came there for.
"Ah, hello gorgeous."
He picked up the Sorcerer's belt and took one of the Chaos Pearls off of it, a sinister grin appearing on his face as his eyes glowed green and his evil self appeared within the orb's reflection.
"Why hello there. What say we have ourselves a little, fun?"
The boy's evil self nodded his head in agreement as green smoke began to pour out of the Chaos Pearls and surround him, laughing maniacally as he could feel his body changing.
"Hope you're prepared, Ninja, because you. Are. MINE."
Hello everyone, and welcome to the first chapter of my latest fic, Randy Cunningham and The Norisu Nine. This is something that has been on my mind for some time after having rewatched Randy Cunningham on Disney+, and two of my main inspirations for this (aside from the show of course) are Queen of Gravyfries and her RC9GN 2nd Series and the Norisu Nine AU made by AlphaOmegaBros (go check them out, they make some good stuff, the former has a YouTube channel while the latter has a DA account).
Anyways, wow, what a first chapter. Not only did we have Theresa learning of Randy's secret, but we also have the start of a budding romance (still don't know HOW I managed to miss this pairing), as well as someone managing to get the Sorcerer's Power Balls. Just who the honk is this guy, anyways? Best to wait until next chapter to find out (hopefully I don't end up taking forever to make the next one, unlike my Amphibia story. SERIOUSLY need to get back to that at some point).
Oh, also, unfortunately I wasn't able to do a full description of this story (maybe I'll have a better shot in AO3 or something), but either way, just because I feel like it, here's the full version:
Months after the defeat of the Sorcerer, Randy Cunningham, 9th grade ninja, has been having these weird dreams lately and they all involve the same thing; him fighting a horde of monsters alongside eight other ninjas. Who are these mysterious warriors, why is Randy getting these dreams, and what the juice can I put as a third question for this description? All of these questions (well, except for that last one) and more will be answered here, in Randy Cunningham and the Norisu Nine.
Anyways, that's enough out of me, so I'll see you all in the next one.
