Drew could see it on Jaiden's face right away. She came stomping out of the building and marched towards the car where he was waiting for her. She had just been inside for an examination, and that look on her face was all it took for him to sigh in relief and start smiling. She opened the car door and got it.

"Congrats! You are not the mother," he joked.

She looked at him with anger in her eyes. She was clearly angry about whatever the woman on the phone yesterday was trying to pull.

"Hey, it's okay," he took her hand. "Block her number and forget about her."
"My doctor said this is a well known scam but normally they hear about it with men being told they are fathers," she said.
"So she wants money," he said.
"Most likely," she said. "I feel so violated about this whole thing. This woman did enough digging to know what happened to me. She knew she could somehow wing it and maybe make me believe her. It's so fucked up that she could even figure out anything about me."
"It's creepy," he agreed. "What do you wanna do about it?"
"I wanna make sure she never does this to anyone else," she said.

He nodded and turned on the engine. She took out her phone and started googling. They were home shortly after. She suddenly let out a gasp and looked at him.

"Rhea Ripley. That was her name, right?" She asked.
"As far as I remember," he answered.
"That's her," she said.

She showed him her phone. There was a picture of a woman. He scrolled down to see two other women warning others against her.

"She's done this to two others before me. She scammed them out of a lot of money because they thought she was their daughter. In both cases they had children they gave up for adoption so they thought she was their daughter. She made sure to give birthdays that matched. She's good at digging, and she's good at scamming people," she said.
"Where do we go from here?" He asked.
"I'm gonna call both of these women. They found each other, and now I found them. Police is still searching for Rhea because apparently she also robbed their houses before disappearing out of their lives. There's a warrant out for her. I can help these women get closure, Drew. I can do something right here," she said.

He smiled, took her hand, and brought it to his lips.

"Then let's help them," he said. "I love seeing you like this. When you get a fire lit under your ass, nothing can stop you. It's one of the many things I love about you."

She smiled back at him and leaned over to his side to kiss him.

"I love you, darling," she said.
"I love you too," he said.
"Wanna take down a scammer with me?" She asked.
"Oh, you bet your ass I want to," he grinned. "You're not doing this without me."

Her phone beeped. She started grinning. Since the call yesterday, Rhea had kept texting and calling to convince her she had a daughter out there.

"And there she is again," she said. "Time for me to send a vague text back just to keep her interested."

She typed out an answer and hit send. She looked over at him again. Both of them nodded and got out of the car.

"Let's go inside and contact those other two women," she said.
"I'll put on some coffee while you call them," he said.
"Yes, I need coffee," she said. "Thank you, darling. You're always there for me."

He walked around the car and pulled her in for a hug.

"That's because I love you so much," he said. "What this woman is doing is so fucking wrong. She's preying on people's emotions and scamming them. This fucking ends right here. Whatever we have to do, we will. I'm with you every step of the way."
