Author's Note: Hello, Enchanted fans!
As I'm developing my Enchanted & Anastasia crossover fan fic, Giselle & Anya's Journey to the Past; retro mania reached out to me via PM and asked if I could write an Enchanted fan fic (mainly Edward and Nancy centric) and I agreed.
Like most of you, I am looking forward to seeing the sequel "Disenchanted" coming out in November of this year, on Disney Plus. I'm curious to see what happens to Edward & Nancy, as well as Giselle & Robert. The question on my mind is will there be 2D animation sequences in Disenchanted like in the first movie? We'll have to wait and see…
Anyways, let's begin with the story!
Enchanted does not belong to me and retro mania, all rights go to Disney. OCs belong to retro mania.
Chapter 1
Nancy Tremaine walked alone in the ballroom. Tonight, wasn't exactly how it turned out for her. She came here for a romantic evening with Robert. Instead, a scene straight out of a fairytale played out: Giselle biting an apple (that was poisoned), only to be revived with True Love's Kiss from Robert after Prince Edward failed to wake Giselle. Nancy was willing to let Robert go for the sake of saving a life. Then she along with Edward and Nathaniel witnessed Giselle battle a dragon atop of the Empire State Building. Now, Nancy is unsure of what will happen next for her.
Then, Nancy spotted something on the floor. One lone glass slipper left behind by Giselle, in pursuit of rescuing Robert. Kneeling; she picks up the shoe, a small, sad smile on her face.
Seeing her alone, Edward kneels in front of Nancy.
"Why so sad, beautiful lady?" He inquired.
"She forgot her shoe." Nancy replied. "Figures,"
Taking the shoe, Edward looks at it before looking back at Nancy, an idea forming in his mind.
"May I?" He asked.
Nancy smiles, giving Edward permission to do so. The young prince gently slips the shoe on Nancy's foot. Much to the amazement and surprise of Edward and Nancy; the shoe fits.
"It's a perfect fit," said Edward.
Nancy looks up at him with wonder.
"My lady, how would you like to return to Andalasia with me?" Edward asks.
Nancy stares at Edward, a bit surprised.
"For real?" She asked.
Edward nodded.
Nancy hesitates, pondering over Edward's proposal. Andalasia seemed like a magical place. She had dreamed of having a romantic relationship with Robert, (despite his practicality) believing in true love. But now, Robert chose Giselle. She thought about the way Edward had introduced Giselle, the way he said it was so lovely. And at this point, both Edward and Nancy had nothing to lose. A fresh, new start in Andalasia may be perfect.
The raven-haired woman looked up at Edward, who was waiting for her response.
"I would like to come to Andalasia with you." Nancy answered. "I want to see it."
Edward grins. Before he says anything, Nancy interrupts.
"But before we get married and all, I think we need to get to know one another." She advised.
"You mean, like go on a date?" Edward questioned.
"Yes, exactly. A date," said Nancy. "I'm gathering you've never been on a date?"
Edward shook his head.
"I never heard of a date, until now…when Giselle mentioned it to me, when I found her this morning." He said.
"Hmm," said Nancy. Part of her was curious about how Edward's date with Giselle turned out.
"Well, Nancy. We shall go to Andalasia, go on a date and be married. We'll be king and queen of Andalasia." Edward declared. "I'll have to tell everyone of my stepmother's treachery. And explain about Giselle not returning."
Nancy nodded.
"Of course," She agreed.
Edward extends his hand to Nancy and she accepts.
"Sire," A voice said from behind them.
The couple turned to see Nathaniel standing there.
"Is everything alright?" He asked.
"Everything is perfect, Nathaniel." Edward answers. "Nancy and I will return to Andalasia. We'll go on a date, be married, and become the new king and queen."
"That sounds wonderful, congratulations to you both." Nathaniel said. "But I won't go back to Andalasia."
"What are you talking about?" Edward asked, puzzled.
"I need some time to think about what I want to do." Nathaniel responds. "Whether I'll return, I don't know. There's a possibility I may just stay here."
Edward hesitates, before answering.
"I understand completely. I'll give you time to think it over. Should you choose to stay, I wish you the best of luck."
Nathaniel smiles.
"Thank you. It's been an honor to work alongside you my liege. I believe you two are going to make great rulers."
Both Nancy and Edward share glances, grinning.
Suddenly, Giselle and Robert appear. The pair are still wet, wrapped with towels. The chipmunk called Pip is perched on Giselle's shoulder.
"Giselle, are you okay?" Nancy asked.
"I'm alright, Nancy." Giselle replied. "Wet, but fit as a fiddle."
She turns to Edward.
"I'm sorry things didn't work out between us. I thought I'd be excited to be reunited with you and life in Andalasia was what I wanted, but…so many things have happened to me. And on top of the argument I had with Robert, last night, now…my heart is saying 'stay in New York'."
"It's alright, Giselle." Edward said. "Apparently, it wasn't meant to be and things worked out better for us differently. You found your true love. And I found mine." He glances at Nancy with adoration in his eyes, and Nancy smiles.
"I had no idea about how you were feeling when I found this morning. I'd never want to make you unhappy. I wish you and Robert every happiness." Edward added.
Giselle gave the prince a small smile.
"Thank you, Edward." She said.
Pip, who had been listening, started to converse with Giselle by chirping.
"You're gonna stay here in this land?" The chipmunk asked, surprised.
"Yes, Pip." Giselle replied. "I promise I'll try to come visit Andalasia."
She looked back at Edward.
"If that's all right with you?"
Edward nods.
"You are always welcome in Andalasia." He said.
"I'll miss you, Giselle." Pip said sadly.
"I'll miss you too, Pip. And all my other animal friends." Giselle said. She wasn't going to lie, she'll miss her homeland. But right now, New York City is her home.
"I need you to do something for me, Pip." Giselle instructed her little friend. "I want you to be kind and good to Nancy. Tell the others the same, make her feel welcome in Andalasia."
Pip nods his head, confirming he understood. Nancy smiles to herself, Giselle doesn't seem bad like she thought before.
"Giselle," Nathaniel began to say.
The young maiden turned to Edward's right-hand man.
"I ask that you forgive me," He said.
"For what?" Giselle questioned.
"For all the trouble, I put you through: helping Narissa in banishing you here, trying to kill you and even thwarting Pip in helping you." Nathaniel answers.
"Why would you do that?" Robert asks, looking at Nathaniel.
"Because Narissa wanted to stay in power and keep the throne. If Edward were to marry, she won't be queen anymore." Nathaniel explained. "That's also why she sent Edward and I on troll hunts. Narissa, as vicious she was…she was also beautiful. So, I went along with her schemes, trying to please her. But then I realized Narissa had never treated me right."
Nathaniel then turns to Edward.
"I also ask that you forgive me sire, for aiding your stepmother." He adds.
"I forgive you, Nathaniel;" said Edward.
"I do too," Giselle interjects. Even Pip accepted Nathaniel's apology.
"Thank you," said Nathaniel. "Best of luck to you, dear girl."
"Giselle," Nancy addressed the strawberry blonde haired woman.
"Yes, Nancy?" Giselle asks, turning her attention to Nancy.
"Robert told me you made your own dresses. So, how would you like to take over my fashion company?" Nancy asked.
Giselle's eyes widened.
"Really?"
"You're serious?" Robert asked, incredulous.
"Yes." Nancy responded. "I believe she has great potential in becoming a fashion designer. Therefore, you have my blessing, Giselle."
"Oh, thank you Nancy!" Giselle exclaimed happily. "I will do my sincere best."
"Wonderful," Nancy beams.
"In that case, shall we go, Nancy?" Edward asks the Tremaine woman.
"Yes," She replied.
Nancy takes Edward's hand.
"Pip!"
The woodland critter leaps off Giselle's shoulder and joined the duo.
"Farewell, everyone!" Edward waves goodbye and so does Nancy.
"Bye!" Giselle, Robert and Nathaniel called.
The young couple and chipmunk exit the room.
The remaining trio exchanged looks. They knew deep down Nancy and Edward were going to be alright.
Robert turns to Giselle.
"So, what exactly are you going to call Nancy's studio?"
"I'm thinking 'Andalasia Fashions'." She grins.
Meanwhile, as soon as they left the building; Nancy, Edward and Pip (who was perched on Edward's shoulder) ran to Times Square. They arrived at the man hole and altogether jumped in, headed for Andalasia.
The moment Nancy went in, she notices something peculiar. Sparkly dust was everywhere. It landed all over her, and in that moment her skin and dress changed. It was as if she were going from three to two dimensions. Above her, silver dust swirled into the shape of a dancing couple.
Suddenly, thump!
Nancy landed smack dab into another world. The sparkling dust had disappeared. All around her was chattering voices. Feeling herself being lifted by Edward, Nancy found herself in an animated realm, known as Andalasia.
A/N: And that's the start of That's How We Know. I hope you all enjoyed it! I did make up majority of the dialogue. I even came up with the idea of Nathaniel apologizing to both Edward and Giselle for aiding Narissa, Nancy giving Giselle her blessing to take over Nancy's fashion company, Giselle saying goodbye to Pip and the additional dialogue between Edward and Nancy.
As I worked on the chapter, Disney finally dropped the trailer for Disenchanted and it looks amazing! There's even a second trailer and we even hear Idina Menzel sing!
Anyways, up next Nancy finds herself in Andalasia with Edward and even meets Giselle's animal friends. I'll try to work on it as soon as I can, I seem to have an inkling of how the chapter will turn out.
Until then, see you next time! Don't forget to favorite, follow and review (please be kind).
