Jolyne woke up in her bed, to the distant sound of Jotaro's alarm in his bedroom. It had been ringing for what seemed like forever and wouldn't stop. Eventually she got up to walk over to the alarm clock, still half asleep and unbeknownst to her, completely naked. Jotaro's bedroom had a king sized bed and glass doors leading to the balcony on the far end from the door. His bed was against the wall on the left and opposite that was a walk-in closet. On the left to his bedroom door, his ensuite bathroom door also faced the balcony.
She found his alarm clock and thought to herself briefly, who the fuck still uses one of these? How do I turn this shit off? She pressed every button on the small device and eventually out of sheer rage threw the thing on the floor to stomp on it shouting, "ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA… ORAAAAA!"
Jotaro rushed out of his bathroom in just a towel, with his face still half covered in shaving cream and watched the fully naked Jolyne collapse onto his bed. The smashed object on the floor looked somewhat still familiar despite literally being in shards. Is this a remote controlled stand? Wait no, that's my alarm clock.
"Yare yare…" he turned and went back into his bathroom.
Jolyne's eyes opened briefly after some time, only to find Jotaro doing the curtains to his balcony. The room became dark and the next thing she knew, she was covered in a soft warm blanket.
"Daddy has to go to work, darling," he spoke with a condescending tone, "as much as I'd love to dress you up myself, I can't be late for work, so do me a favour and put some clothes on."
"Ugh, why do you have to be so lame, old man?"
"The last cleaning lady quit because she didn't like the way I looked, I don't want to make this new one uncomfortable…" he'd dropped the tone and spoke seriously, "I'm leaving clothes on the bed, there's breakfast downstairs, cleaner is coming in at 10am today and will put the cctv on like they always do. I threw out yesterday's breakfast again. I suggest you stop skipping meals."
"You're making me fat," she moaned.
"No I'm not," he wondered what she meant by the comment and quickly added, "even if I were, I'm sure it'd look good on you."
"Wha-" Jolyne jumped up but he'd already walked out the door, "you like curvy girls, huh? Dirty old man…" It felt strange that he mentioned her skipping breakfast. Jolyne wasn't exactly active and rarely felt hungry in the mornings.
That morning Jolyne did eat breakfast, wearing the ridiculously oversized clothes belonging to her father. Does he really like curvy girls? Should I put on weight? She looked down at her chest and put a hand on her abdomen.
"It's not my fault I have your genes old man…" she finished her breakfast and took a banana out of the fruit basket to take back to her room.
Later that day Grace walked into Jotaro's office just before he was about to leave.
"Oh… you're back to your usual self, are you?" She fixed her light brown hair and smiled at him, "I take it you've sorted things out with your daughter!" Something about her always reminded Jotaro of his mother, Holly. Perhaps that was why he found herself putting up with her starkly bubbly personality. Or maybe it was her, who put up with him which made their relationship possible…
"She told me she loves me," Jotaro stood tall and proud.
"Eh?" Grace walked over to his desk to get a closer look at his suspiciously positive aura. "Did you talk to her about what happened?" He didn't say anything, but slowly his face reddened. "You're blushing!"
"It's not like I'm taken right now…" he defended himself, "I think… I think she's just confused because she loves me and never connected to these feelings before."
"This version of you is even weirder than how you were yesterday," she put a hand on her hip and looked at him disappointedly. "Shouldn't you be more concerned about her if that's the case? Did you do something?"
"I didn't do anything…" Well I didn't do what I probably should have done. "Jolyne has been through a lot."
"I hope you love her too, enough to care for her so she can get better soon," Grace gave up on questioning him and walked out of his office, "have a nice weekend."
Jotaro came home that evening to the familiar smell of home cooking.
"Yo, you're back earlier Mr. Kujo," Jolyne greeted him, wearing an apron, "there's no way you already ate, right? I called grandma for the recipe."
"Jolyne," he was surprised by the gesture, "it's friday night… I thought you'd be out late. I made plans…"
"What? You got somewhere to go?" Jolyne pouted.
"I'll have dinner with you, if you'd like," he smiled at her and patted her head, "I hope you didn't make the effort just for me, I want you to use your time here for yourself."
"Why do you have to be so lame, old man…"
Jolyne nervously sat opposite Jotaro at the breakfast table after serving him a plate of the braised beef and vegetables she'd cooked. Jotaro could taste how the quantities of the ingredients were not exactly right, but he didn't let that show. Despite the meal lacking in flavour, somewhat, he finished his plate and had some more. His daughter felt pleased, but his lack of expressions made her unsure.
"Thank you for the meal, Jolyne, it was delicious" he got the dishes and took them to sink, only to be stopped by her.
"I can do the dishes, you're going to be late…" she said with a big smile.
"Don't worry about that. I haven't even confirmed the time with my friend, yet."
"Well hurry up and do that," she replied.
"It's fine Jolyne, you don't need to do the clean-"
"I want to."
"Well let me keep you company, it's not like I need to dress up or anything," he told her and got his phone out to look at his messages
(17:08) Just got off work, are you still in for the drinks tonight? - G Giovanna
(17:45) Let me know whenever you're free, I'm not bringing any friends if your daughter is still around - G Giovanna
(18:20) Daughter is still here, let's meet somewhere busy. I can make my way downtown in an hour, I'll call you when I leave?
(18:25) Come pick me up first. We can go to a busy bar after that. Call me when you're in your car.
(18:26) Alright. See you
(18:28) Location pin Pick me up from here, don't forget to call. See you.
"So what are you doing tonight, anyway?" Jolyne felt curious about him. She had kept herself busy the weekend before and had been mostly doing her own thing, but she never spoke with Jotaro about it. "I was thinking of going downtown tonight, there's a place there which is offering me training."
"Okay, I'm seeing an old friend, I'll leave in an hour." His eyes remained glued to his screen.
"Can I get some more cab fare?" Again she failed to get his attention.
"There's money in the drawer, take as much as you need."
Jolyne felt like being petty about his demeanour. He was so fixated on his phone, it bothered her. Maybe she was just dying for attention. She flicked her hand, causing suds to fly his way.
"Oops-" she had aimed for his crotch and picked up a tea towel to reach there.
"Oops?" Jotaro instantly grabbed the wrist which was reaching for him. He had dodged the flying soap and wasn't even standing where Jolyne thought he was anymore. He was standing right behind her now and raised her wrist to the counter-top where she had picked up the towel from. "Put that down."
"What the-?" she put a wet plate down and raised her other arm in defiance. Jotaro quickly grabbed that too. "Let go of me."
"Do you need me to teach you how to wash the dishes?"
"Okay, sure."
"I suggest you keep these hands in the sink as much as possible, so you don't make a mess, darling." He pushed her arms down into the sink, which forced him to step even closer so that they were touching. Jolyne's face became hot.
"Daddy, you're making me blush."
"Yare yare daze…" he let go of her arms and continued advising her, "you don't need that much soap in the sponge to clean this. If you don't use the water to properly rinse these, you'll get the sponge dirtier than it needs to be."
"I think this isn't dirty enough…" she turned around and put her wet hands on his chest. "I want another kiss." He looked at her red face and also felt the wetness of her hands seeping through his shirt all at once.
"You've made a mess." His nipples hardened at the cold feeling of the wet shirt. "Maybe when you learn to keep these hands in the sink when you're washing the dishes, I may consider rewarding you with what you want from me," Jotaro's eyes lowered to her chest, "and take those silicone inserts out if you're going out later."
Jolyne crossed her arms over her chest with wide eyes and yelled "Is that why you stood so close behind me?! So you could look down my shirt?!"
"Yare yare… I don't have to look down there to know, this isn't even that bad considering what you've already sh-"
"Don't even…"
Looks like I may have won this time… Jotaro thought to himself quietly.
Jolyne didn't put too much makeup on that night, but decided to ditch the inserts just in case they really were too obvious. Carefully unbraiding her hair, she let it down in soft waves. She put on a tight purple faux-leather mini skirt and a low cut cropped top under a denim jacket before getting a cab to the bar downtown. Several days earlier she had met a tall hunky half korean guy bartender, who was more than willing to personally train her in mixing drinks after her trial half-shift behind the bar (spent mostly flirting with him) attracted large groups of customers to buy even more drinks from the pretty young lady.
After the long cab journey sailing through traffic, she trotted into the bar with her eyes on her new friend, Won, who caught her walking through the doors when half the room turned to look at her. Jolyne had a way of capturing people's attention. Little did she know, she also caught the attention of the two men sitting in the far corner in a booth - one of whom uttered yet again the words which said it all, "yare yare daze…"
"What's wrong Jojo?" Giorno sipped his beer and looked to see where Jotaro's eyes were looking
"You vetted all the people working here right?"
"You've got your eyes on the newbie?" he put his beer down and looked at her for some seconds, "there is something quite mesmerising about her, no? As far as my men are concerned she's safe, at least for us."
"At least for us?"
"I don't know whether she's safe from that bartender who's taken her on," he sighed, "but they've been trying to get a woman to work behind the bar for some time now, so I'm sure she has the job already. Not much details on her, but if you want, I can find out. In fact, I'm sure any one of my guys would love to find out for you, she's only worked here once before and they're already talking about her."
"I don't think that will be necessary," Jotaro uttered coldly. A dark aura started emanating from him.
"I see," Giorno understood immediately that the girl in question must be somebody he knows, but their meeting was supposed to be discreet, so it made sense that Jotaro was bothered by this. "Do you want to leave?"
"Definitely not," Jotaro turned and looked at her, which was precisely when she saw him too.
I guess I've lost this time.
