Kagome and I were sitting in the shrine novelty store with Gramps. "The shikon jewel." Gramps started. "So long as one has this, one's family will know safety and prosperity." He finished. "And people actually pay money for these marbles?" Kagome questioned skeptically. "Superstition pays." I said flatly. "That you are right Asami. But as I was saying you both should hear it's legend. In the beginning the 'Jewel of four souls'..." Kagome cut Gramps off. "Save your breath, Gramps. You remember what tomorrow is don't you?" Gramps and I both sighed at her typical Kagome. "Could I ever forget either of my adorable granddaughters' birthdays." Gramps said while holding two gifts one for Kagome and one for myself. "Wow for me?" Kagome asked taking the box with her name on it. "Thank you Gramps." I said excitedly taking my gift. Me and Kagome hurriedly unrapped our gifts. Kagome stared blankly into her box. "Its the hand of a 'Kappa' water-sprite the legends hold that whoever possesses this." Gramps was once again cut off by Kagome. "Here, Buyo. Lunch." Kagome tossed the severed hand to Buyo who began to chew it. "Do you know what those cost?!" Gramps yelled "Asami what's in your box?" Kagome asked slightly interested. I stared into my box blankly like Kagome had done earlier. "Don't know looks cool though." I said pulling it out of the box. It kinda looked like a the tooth of a really big cat. "If you'd ever listened to your old Grandfather you'd know that, that is a fang of a great and fearsome cat demon." Gramps explained. "Oh, cool." I said flatly.
My name is Asami Higurashi and my house is also a very old shrine. I live with my Grandpa, mom, twin sister and little brother.
There's a sacred "Go-Shinboku" God-Tree that's 500 years old and a covered well that probably has its own legend. In fact everything in my house has a legend according to Gramps.
"See ya." "Bu bye." Me and Kagome shouted at the same time running out of the house. "Hey Sota." Kagome yelled as we approached the old well-house. "Oh sis!" Sota said as we stopped in front of him. "Whatcha doing? You know you're not supposed to play in the well-house?" I questioned. "But Buyo... He's in the well house?!" Sota exclaimed. "Alright then we'll go get him." Kagome stated. We both walked into the well-house Sota following behind. "Buyo." The three of us called out. "He's somewhere down there." Sota said softly. "So get him out!" Kagome shouted. "But doesn't this place give you the creeps?" Sota questioned. "Yeah, I really don't like being in here." I admitted "What, Asami not you two. There's nothing to be scared of." As soon as those words left Kagome's mouth the well started to make an odd noise. "Th-There's something in there!" Sota shouted as we both hid behind Kagome. "Like, oh, say... our cat?" Kagome said rolling her eyes at us."It's not my fault this place is creepy!" I shouted. "Geez you two." Kagome said and grabbing me by my hand and dragging me down the steps of the well-house. Every step we took made a creaking noise but so didn't the well. "It's coming from the well? You've got to be kidding me." Kagome said. "Do you think Buyo somehow got into the well?" I asked. "YAAA!" Kagome screamed causing me to jump. "Don't yell like that! You scared me!" Sota shouted at Kagome. "You little!" Kagome shouted back. I looked by her feet to see what had made her scream. "It's just Buyo." I said looking at Kagome. A look of horror washed over my face as a woman with six arms emerged from the well and grabbed onto Kagome who instinctively grabbed onto me. "KA-KAGOME, ASAMI!" Sota screamed for us as we were dragged into the well, I screamed as a bright pink light washed over us.
'It feels like i'm floating.' I was barely paying attention as this thing was talking. I was too busy focusing on the fact that it was missing flesh but at the same time regaining it? I was forced from my thoughts as Kagome screamed. "Let us go... You freak." Then a blinding light enveloped this centipede woman like creature. It let us go and said. " I... will... not... lose it now... The Jewel...of four... souls.." 'The Jewel of four souls wasn't that what Gramps was talking about earlier.' As my feet touched the bottom of the well again. "I'm In the well?" Kagome questioned. "You okay, Kagome?" I asked. "I think so. Are you?" She replied. "Yeah, all good." I said. "We've gotta get out of here." Kagome stated. "Sota! You there?! Go get Gramps now!" Kagome screamed. No answer. As I was already trying and struggling to climb out of the well. "I wish I didn't skip gym." I sighed. "Well at least you won't skip gym anymore." Kagome teased and started climbing too. I turned my head and stuck my tongue out at her and kept climbing. "Real mature Asami!" Kagome yelled. "Chicken.. I can't believe he ran away." Kagome muttered. 'Finally the top of the well.' I thought as I pulled myself out. 'What's going on? Its nothing but woods.' "Uh Kagome we have a problem." I stated "What's wrong?" She questioned pulling herself from the well and took a quick glance. "Where are we? Where's the shrine?" She questioned. "We better start trying to find our way back." I said as calmly as I could.
"Grampa." Kagome yelled. "Mom." I shouted. We'd been doing this for about 10 minutes now and nothing looked familiar yet. "Oh! The old sacred tree!" Kagome exclaimed pointing in the direction where the old tree stood tall. She grabbed my hand and we dashed toward it. When we reached the tree there was a boy who had been shot with an arrow stuck to it. "Uh Kagome please tell me you see him to?" I asked. "Yeah, I do." she said as she stepped closer to him. "Um... are you okay?" Kagome asked and received no response "Hello?..." Kagome tried again getting closer. "You don't think he's dead do you?" I asked hoping he wasn't. "I hope not." Kagome said before she stopped directly in front of him and stared at the top of his head a moment. "Kagome, why are you staring at his head?" I asked inching closer to the both of them. "His ears aren't human." She said. "Huh no way. Do you think he's a cosplayer of some type?" I asked. "Oh, maybe that would explain the ears and his hair too!" Kagome exclaimed grabbing the boys 'ears' and tugging them. "Uh Asami, these ears don't come off!" Kagome half shouted. "What are you doing!" A voice shouted. A whizzing noise flew past my head and I felt a slight pain in my left cheek before the object lodged itself into the tree next to Kagome. 'An arrow?' I touched my cheek. I pulled my hand away. "Blood." I said softly. "This land is forbidden." The same voice from earlier shouted. "Be you a stranger." A new voice spoke.
They tied us and carried us back to their village. A crowd had begun to form around us. "You found them in InuYasha's forest?" Someone questioned. "They're wearing the strangest of clothes." Someone else stated. "My clothes aren't strange, you're the one dressed strange!" I exclaimed frustrated. "Hey you didn't have to tie us up y'know!" Kagome shouted, clearly just as frustrated as I was. "I bet their spies." Someone said. ' A spy for who. God these people were off their rockers.' "Then another battles a'brewin?" An old man asked. "They're one've them 'Kitsune' foxes using magic to look like a girl I say." A woman said. 'They think we're Kitsune's and they believe in magic. Yeah, they're definitely crazy.' I thought. "Make way! Make way! Lady Kaede, the priestess is coming!" A man shouted and the crowd parted letting an old woman who I assume is this 'Lady Kaede. She stopped in front of us and questioned. "Who are you and why were you in the forest of InuYasha?" "The weirdos just get weirder." Kagome uttered. The old woman glanced at me then looked at Kagome and stared at her before grabbing Kagome's chin. "Let me see your face." Lady Kaede said as she moved my sisters face from side to side. "So, trying to look clever, are you? You're her image though... My elder sister Kikyo..." Lady Kaede spoke "What?" Kagome asked. "Yeah, I second that." I said and there was a brief pause before she said. "Untie them please." Two of the village men made quick work of untying us. You both follow me she said making her way to a hut. Kagome and I shared a look before following after Lady Kaede.
Lady Kaede began telling us of her older sister. "Kikyo was the village priestess and its protectress." Kaede started.
"That was over 50 years ago. She died when I was but a child." Kaede finished. "I don't uh... suppose we're in Tokyo anymore?" Kagome asked. "I've never heard of this Tokyo... Is that the land of your birth?" Kaede spoke. 'If we're not in Tokyo where are we?' "Yeah that's where we were born." Kagome stated. I leaned over to whisper to Kagome. "You don't think we've died and this is our after life do you?" "Asmai, don't talk like that." She whispered back. "What are you too discussing?" Kaede asked. Kagome turned back to Lady Kaede. "We were just thinking that we should going soon." All of a sudden there was a bunch of banging noises and screams could be heard. The three of us in good horror movie fashion peaked out of the door of the hut to see what was going on. When out of nowhere a dead horse landed in front of us causing both me and Kagome to scream. I looked in the direction of where the horse came from. 'That's the thing from the well.' "Run! A demon!" One of the villagers shouted. Its eyes locked onto Kagome and it spoke. "Give me the jewel of four souls." "The... The Jewel... You have the Jewel?" Kaede asked. I Came charging towards us destroying things and plowing down villagers in the process. Some of the villagers were fighting back but nothing was working. "Nor spears nor arrows stop it!" One of the men said. "If we can lure it to the dry old well, we might be able to trap it!" Kaede exclaimed. "Dry old well? Do you mean the one in the forest?" I asked. "Yes, the well in Inuyasha's forest." Kaede said. "Where's the forest?" Kagome asked. "East." Someone responded. "Okay towards the light. That thing wants me, stay here Asami." Kagome said as she darted off into the forest that demon following behind her shouting. "You will not get away from me!" "Did that girl truly say... She saw the evil aura of the forest.. That no earthly thing can see!" Kaede said shocked. "Huh you can't see that light?" I asked softly. "Ye can see it too?" She asked with wide eyes. I nodded my head in response. "We probably should go after her." I said and she nodded in response still a bit stunned.
A Few moments later several of the village men riding horses had gathered back around Lady Kaede and myself. One helped me onto the back of his horse and another man helped Lady Kaede onto her own horse. 'Please be ok' I thought as we rode in the direction my sister went.
