"Would you do that for me? If you find one, I'll give your cheese free next week, Adrien." Marinette looked at Adrien, a puzzled expression on her face. "Just leave it to us," Adrien said, a confident smile on his face.
"Adrien, its near dark out! We won't be able to pick out the right pumpkin in time," Marinette said. Leo of Leo's Cheese Shop had asked them to get a pumpkin for his Halloween party, but Marinette was having doubts they'd find one in time. "Relax, Bugaboo. We're Ladybug and Cat Noir! We can do anything when we're together." At that statement, his partner smiled. "Besides, the way Plagg has been eating cheese, I'm going broke." "Hey, I thought it was becauseā¦.." Plagg piped up. Quickly, Adrien put a finger to his lips. He didn't want Plagg to spill the beans that he was saving up for something nice for Christmas for her.
"And you know where to find a pumpkin patch, Charlie Brown?" Adrien smirked as he asked Google. "Why didn't I think of that?" Marinettte groaned.
It was actually quite pretty when they arrived at the patch, the lanterns hanging in the trees gave the pumpkins a soft orange glow. "Its so romantic," Marinette gushed as Adrien took her hand and they walked among the pumpkins.
There were fat ones, skinny ones, some of odd shapes and sizes. It was hard for them to choose. "Let's sit down for moment," Marinette said, sitting down on a swinging bench strung between to trees. Adrien sat down next to her, his hand at her waist. The bench creaked out its own melody, along with the wind singing in the trees. "I've got it!" Marinette said, leaping up.
"How about we choose a pumpkin that's a bit like our personalities? I'm quirky, creative, and your sensitive and funny? I know it might be tricky, but it will be fun!"
Adrien smiled at her, leaning back against the bench. "I love the way your mind works, love. Let's go!" For the next hour, they searched carefully among the pumpkins, and selected two candidates. One was a bit bumpy looking, like it had taken a few tumbles, but the color was like a brilliant sunset, seeming to glow even in the dark without candles. That's was Marinette's pick. Adrien's was tall, the stem twisting to the side, giving it a look of a teapot.
Lugging the two pumpkins back towards town, Marinette said, "Oh, I hope Leo likes our picks! I don't want to disappoint him!"
But Leo wasn't disappointed at all! He loved the pumpkins so much, he decided to use both. "How about having some hot chocolate before you go?" Leo asked.
"You know, it shows that we're supposed to be together," Adrien said, a bit later. Marinette looked at him, confused. "Because of the pumpkins?" "No, your silliness balances out my seriousness." "Your funny too, Kitty," she said. Adrien raised a eyebrow. "Oh? So, you like my meow-velous puns?"
Marinette burst out laughing. "I know I've said they drive me crazy, but," her voice softened and Adrien leaned closer. "They're were days that was the one thing that kept me going. You and your puns." Touching Adrien's cheek, she pressed a small kiss to his lips. "Now, let's get home, before we both turn into pumpkins!"
Soon, walking arm and arm, the two heroes walked home under a pumpkin moon.
