just a little bite of Food
"Okay. Okay." Clover said, interjecting. "Now, why do you think us woodland creatures have been helping you Princesses for all these years?" Clover asked as Madeline spun around in her dress.
"I don't know." Sofia shrugged, saying again.
Madeline shrugged. "I don't know either."
"Cause we gotta eat," Clover informed them. "And you got the food." He looked at Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. "Boys, would you start me off."
The three exchanged looks and smiled before harmonizing and starting off the song…
"We've helped Princesses for many eons, but you treat us just like furry peons."
Clover and Whatnaught made Madeline's bed and stacked some of her stuff, much to her amazement.
"We make your bed, clean up your messes."
Robin and Mai brought Sofia's dress in front of her, surprising Sofia.
"Wake you up and put on all your dresses."
The three chipmunks climbed on the bed close together as they joined in.
"And what's our reward? What thanks do we get?"
Ginger grabbed Clover's paw and danced and twirled with him.
"Not a crumb, not a morsel, no brie, no baguette."
Hanna slid into and continued as she brought Sofia's shoes.
"Ohh! Did you really think after all these years? When we did your chores, we were volunteers?"
Anna brought Sofia's crown and placed it on her head as the group animals cleaned the two girls' room more.
"A little bit of food is all that we seek, a little bit to eat."
Clover tossed Sofia one of her books and caught it.
"Fill our tummy—"
Robin and Mia brought Madeline's hat as they plopped in on her head, much to her delight.
"Wet our beaks."
The chipmunk brothers scurried up onto Madeline as she giggled.
"A little bit too much,"
Theodore popped on Madeline's left shoulder.
"Like breakfast"
Simon popped up on Madeline's right shoulder.
"Dinner,"
Alvin popped on Madeline's head.
"Lunch."
Clover and Ginger pushed open the girl's doors as Sofia and Madeline glided into the hallway as the other animals followed them.
"And not a seed, a bean, or just some rice; cause a little bit of food would sure be nice."
Clover and Ginger dusted the hallway table with their tails.
"It really isn't much, not too much for us to ask, after helping daily with each little task."
Robin and Jack slightly lifted Sofia's dress on each side, and Whatnaught guided her and Madeline away from a dirty stop on the floor as Hana whipped it out with her tail.
"Just a bite or two, such a modest fee, even little songbirds shouldn't sing for free."
Sofia and Madeline exchanged looks with each other before looking back at all the animals with delight. "Well, if food is what you want," Sofia commented.
"Just a little bit," the chipmunks and birds harmonized.
"You've come to the right castle," Sofia declared as she grabbed a basket from the table.
Madeline grabbed Sofia's hand as she dragged her older sister to the stairs. "Follow me! Ha, ha!"
The princess then slid down the stairs on the handle as some slid with them and followed them, and they all sang…
"A little bit too much, and there's nothing quite like brunch."
Sofia landed first at the bottom of the stairs and caught Madeline. The two giggled and ran into the kitchen as the animals followed, and birds grabbed a blanket. Sofia and Madeline grabbed food from off the table.
Clover opened one of the sides to the door.
"So, deliver just a Sliver or a slice,"
Ginger opened the other side of the door to reveal the outside.
"Of whatever tasty treat all the royal people eat."
Hanna and Whatnaught hurried out, guiding the four birds to the right spot to place the blanket.
"We'd be glad to make some room."
Sofia and Madeline quickly followed with the food basket as the chipmunks finally crawled of Madeline to be on the blanket.
"For a lentil or legume,"
Clover and Ginger, along with everyone else, gather on the blanket.
"If you want some first-class service, there's a price, and a little bit of food would sure be nice."
Sofia and Madeline sat down as the animals gathered around them,
"Oh! A little bit of food."
"A little bit of food."
"Just a little bit of food."
"Just a little bit of food."
Sofia placed a plate in front of Clover, Robin, Mia, and Whatnaught as Madeline did the same for Ginger, Hana, Jack, Anna, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.
Clover and Ginger exchanged looks as the animals ate, nodded, and turned back to the princesses with smiles on their faces and gave a… paws up.
"Nice!"
Sofia and Madeline bit into the small pastry, smiling as the two finally had new friends.
The Neva Flows
From the bushes, Amber stepped out and watched as Sofia and Madeline seemed to be winning every one. Her family, all her royal classmates, even some of the servants. Amber growled and huffed as she threw her fan to the ground. How was this happening…
Be very careful of the crown you wear. Be very careful what you say.
Amber sang as she sat on the ground as she hugged herself close
Those were the words that Matilda told me once. It was one of the lasting things my mother said...
Amber looked to the sky, remembering different times.
I remember father always held us close; he said, "we were his only pride and joy."
I love the gowns, makeups, jewelry that I have, but those words are the best I have.
Amber took off her crown and looked at it as it glowed in the sunlight.
The crown glows bright; my world is right; no one needs to change a thing. My perfect life, my greatest role, Princess, is not a simple thing.
Amber stood up, walked to the river, and looked sad at her reflection.
"Then we gathered in the hall to meet … our new mother… and sisters," Amber said as she recalled in bitterness when she had to meet her new family member. "That day… was the worst,"
Father left my side then… they glow that l loved... was gone.
Amber balled up her fist with her tiara still in her hand as her reflection turned to anger.
Matilda came to me and said nothing would change. My father said this would be the best thing for me…But Sofia and Madeline took everything, and I won't let it stand!
Amber placed her tiara back on her head as she walked away from the river.
The crown glows bright; my world is right; no one needs to change a thing. My perfect life, my greatest role…
Amber was about to pick up her fan but stopped as something in her still felt wrong in
Would mother understand…if she was with me now?
Amber shook her head, getting rid of the thought in her head, and picked up her fan. She had to… she had to get her family and her life back.
Be careful what you pretend to be… a princess is not a simple thing!"
Amber smirked, and she left the forest. She would show Sofia and Madeline that they did not belong in her family.
