Prologue
It was one of those rare days in Forks that it wasn't raining, and to say the least I was glad that today was the day I would finally get answers. I knew that Edward Cullen wasn't human, and I had to admit there was a part of me that wondered if he were a vampire. The past two months since I had moved here from Phoenix after Renee, my mom, married my minor league baseball player stepdad, Phil, was more interesting than anything else that had happened in my life.
Of course anyone would think the same if the strange, golden eyed Biology partner of theirs had managed to stop a van that was skidding across the black ice parking lot with his side without getting damaged. He had claimed that he had been standing next to me the whole time, but it wasn't true, after I had been sent to the clinic and met his adoptive father, Dr. Carlisle Cullen. He also happened to save me from thugs in Port Angeles and went to an Italian restaurant with me (though he didn't eat) and claimed that he wasn't human, and he could read minds, everyone's but mine.
Now I was in Edward's silver Volvo, heading in the direction of where his secret place in the woods was that none of his other family members went to. The classical music station was playing, and I was running my fingers against the frame around the car window, which was tinted since the Cullens couldn't go out into direct sunlight (which partly made sense since who in their right mind would move to Forks?).
It didn't take too long for us to reach the side of the road, since I had been warned that we couldn't drive all the way to the place. He helped me out of the car since I was known for being a klutz and the last thing, we needed was for me to get injured.
At least I was dressed in proper clothes, having put on tennis shoes. I was dressed in a quarter length sleeved hoodie in a dark navy hue, light washed jeans. My hair was pulled up in a ponytail and I pinned back some of my stray hairs to keep them out of my face. The air was cool and crisp, another reminder I was currently living in the Northwest Olympic Peninsula. I wasn't in Phoenix anymore.
Unlike the drive to the spot where Edward had decided to park us, the walk through the woods was longer than I wanted it to be. Edward, beautiful and gorgeous Edward, with his auburn messy hair that fell in front of one of his golden irises, was dressed in a similar color scheme. Navy blue quarter length sweater with dark washed jeans, and some brown hiking boots. His feet barely touched the ground unlike mine, where I was clunking my way through the woods to wherever the hell, he was taking me to (I did not appreciate having to do exercise).
My mouth fell open when we reached what looked like a meadow not too far away. There was soft sunlight that came pouring down into the meadow and without thinking I began to drift forward, only for Edward to motion for me to stay.
He went forward and into the meadow where the tall grass was filled to the brim with beautiful flowers, all different shades of purple and pink and yellow and blue. He was shimmering as though he were the inside of rocks, as though he was an agate. He was the stunning inside of a rock, when broken open sent out shards of stone out for all to see. He pulled off his sweater and showed me how the glittering diamonds went down upon his muscular chest.
I slowly went forward again, having barely reached the trees and almost into the meadow completely when I tripped and fell down. I hissed as my palm was punctured with a large piece of wood, almost puncturing all the way through my hand. Tears came flowing down my cheekbones and I reached forward to grab the wood, yanking it out without thinking (which was something that you definitely didn't do), only for me to see a blur heading towards me.
Then Edward grabbed my hand and began to suck the blood eagerly from me, enough for me to slump backwards. Dizziness came over me and the last thing I saw was another blur tackling Edward, and Alice Cullen looming over me. She whispered that she was sorry before she grabbed my wrist and bit me. The darkness came over me and I fell into obsidian and pain.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: what would have happened if Edward had attacked Bella before he could throw his dramatic ass scene of being too dangerous for her? This is how Bella learns forgiveness and the ways of being a vampire. She eventually meets Garrett.
as always: Twilight doesn't belong to me
