I laid in bed touching the side that Grissom would be laying in if he were home. Tears erupted as the loneliness made my heart ached. He was in Paris living a life that I could not be a part of because the lab needed me. I sniffed wiping the tears from my cheeks and then I sighed rolling over onto my back closing my eyes.
The next shift I still felt the ache inside as I walked into the breakroom for coffee. Greg and Nick were inside standing near the counter laughing about something. Greg drank from his cup looking over at me.
"Hey Sara." He said
I turned looking at him giving them a small smile before turning back to get some coffee.
"Didn't sleep?" Nick asked
"Not really." I said, "I guess I miss someone being in bed beside me."
He nodded understanding as he rubbed my arm before leaving with Greg. I sighed looking down at the coffee in my cup then I leaned back against the counter closing my eyes.
Later after a hard shift, I rubbed my head as it throbbed. Getting my keys out I walked over to my car when my cell phone rang. I lifted it up seeing the person's name then I placed it against my ear.
"Sidle."
"Hey." Grissom answered, "How was shift?"
I imagined him sitting on the couch in his apartment with a book on his lap and a cup of coffee in his hand.
"Not bad." I said
"Are you okay?" He asked, concerned.
"Yeah." I said, trying to sound normal.
"Sara?"
"Look, nothing is wrong!"
"Okay." He said, not believing me.
I sighed laying my head against the car window.
"I'm sorry." I said
"Talk to me." He said
"I…ah have been feeling down lately."
"Why?"
I looked overhearing a car horn.
"Sara?"
I looked back at my car window.
"I have to go."
He stayed quiet for a moment.
"Sara, your avoiding this."
"I'm just really tired."
"Okay." He said
I hung up looking at my phone then I opened my car up and got in. I drove towards our house then I went past the street looking out at the traffic. I stopped on a deserted dirt road getting out walking along a path that Grissom took me once. The stars above were bright and large. I stopped looking down below as I came to the rocky cliff.
Catherine tried my number as she walked into the CSI building for the fifth time. She sighed looking at her phone dialing again. Nick ran over to her with a paper.
"Hey, I got the results." He said
"Show them to me later. I am trying to get hold of Sara." She said
"She's not here?" He asked
"No, Grissom asked me to check on her and I can't reach her at all."
"Maybe she turned her phone off." Nick said
"I hope that is the reason, but she never turns it off." She said, thinking. "I will call Brass."
Nick watched her dial his number as she paced. He hoped that I was all right, but all the signs led to this being bad.
I woke up feeling pain in my head as I moved. My hands and feet were tied. I could hear an engine and it was dark and smelled which meant I was in a trunk. I tried to piece together all that happened and with my brain being foggy it was difficult. Last thing I remembered was looking up at the stars. The car hit a pothole causing a jolt waking me up more. I moved looking around seeing a small amount of light bleeding through on the right side. I hoped that the car still had the button that would unlock the trunk from the inside. Moving to my other side I searched with my tied hands feeling along when I came to the lock. The car was traveling at speed that I knew would be very dangerous to jump from, but I had to try. Winching I moved it to unlock. The trunk opened just a little and I moved looking out seeing pavement below. I tried to slide out without allowing the person driving to see that I had opened the trunk.
The pain that I was about to have made me hesitate. If the car would just slow down a little I could safely jump out. It seemed luck was on my side when after a mile the driver slowed the car down. I took the chance sliding out then I rolled over to some tall grass. The land dropped out from under me, and I rolled down a steep incline hitting water. My ribs were bruised. I lifted my head from the water relieved that I escaped. Now I needed to get out of the bonds around my ankles and wrist. Moving I sat up shivering from the cold water I was sitting in winching sliding my wrist out. It took a long time, but I managed to get them both out. My ankles came undone and soon I was free. Standing, I looked around seeing that I needed to walk back along the river just in case the person after me came looking again.
My stomach gurgled as I walked on. Fish in the river caught my attention as they swam around. I stopped to rest looking at the water. My gun and phone were gone which meant I was going to have to walk along way to contact someone to rescue me.
Greg and Catherine stopped outside of Las Vegas to get some gas in the Tahoe. The search for me was not going well. Catherine called Grissom telling him of the progress.
"Grissom is on his way." Catherine said, as she walked over to him.
He nodded knowing already that would happen.
"If anything happens to her you know what Grissom will do." She said, looking around.
"I know." Greg said
As they thought about the realization that this could end up destroying Grissom, I was making my way towards them. I had climbed up the hill to the road looking around I walked forwards holding my side not seeing any cars. I knew this was a risk, because somewhere out there my captor was searching and could find me again. I looked back then walked on. Brass looked ahead as he drove the lead while his men followed in patrol cars along the road. He rubbed his head thinking about the last time I was taken by Natalie. His cell phone went off. He put it on speaker looking around.
"Jim, it's Catherine."
"Where are you?" He asked
"We are coming up behind you. Anything?" She asked, worried.
"Nothing." He said "Her cell phone was tracked coming along this road."
He looked around the turn seeing me walking along it. I stopped waving to him sighing as he stopped.
"I found her!" He said, getting out running over to me.
I almost cried as he came over. Instead of talking I put my arms around him.
"Are you okay?" He asked
I moved back nodding as he looked me over. He lifted my hands seeing my wrist were bloody. Catherine and Greg stopped behind Jim's car jumping out as they ran over hugging me.
I was taken to the hospital and given a room. Everyone left as I went to sleep with a guard at the door. Grissom came in seeing me lying in bed. He walked over leaning down kissing my head smoothing his smooth cheek over mine.
I moved jumping a little as he moved back looking down at me.
"Hey." He said, softly.
"You didn't have to come." I said
He looked at the bandage on my head and wrists.
"I couldn't just stay in Paris and wait for news." He said
I blinked looking up at him.
"I am glad you are here."
"Me to."
Grissom sat down in a chair next to the bed as I slept. Catherine came in smiling at him as he looked up from his book. She looked at me then back at him.
"Gil, you should get some rest."
"I'm fine." He said, looking down at his book.
She looked over at me again.
"Brass told me she could not describe the car or the person that took her."
"She might later." He said, looking at her. "What's on your mind?"
She leaned back against the wall looking at him smiling.
"I can't hide anything with you in the room. I was wondering if you want to come back."
"Why would I do that?" He asked
"Well, because Langston is leaving, and I could use more help."
He closed his book standing looking down as he sighed.
"Catherine, when I left that was it."
"Gil, we need you. I need you. The lab is not the same without you. Everything is less relaxed and more stressful."
He looked over at me as I moved my head stilling.
"Think of Sara." She said, as he looked at her. "She has been going down the road of burn out. You were the only one to snap her out of this."
"I am thinking of her. She knows I need to work where I am right now."
"What are you running from?" She asked
He looked at her. Catherine walked out of the room leaving him to his thoughts. He brought me home the next day. I laid in bed as he got some soup made. He brought it in placing a tray over my blanket covered legs. I looked down at the brown liquid than at him sitting infront of me.
"Are you going to eat it?" He asked
"Yeah."
I put the spoon in and then I put it in my mouth.
"Good?" He asked
"Not really."
"It's all you had." He said, smiling. "I'll go out and get some things."
"You don't have to." I said
"You need food in this house." He said, getting up.
I watched him walk out of the room leaving me alone. I slowly walked out later seeing him sleeping on the couch while the TV was on quietly. I walked overlooking down at him. My eyes traveled down his body memorizing every part. He moved seeing me.
"You okay?" He asked
"I'm fine." I said
He sighed stretching looking over at the TV then he looked at me.
"Why don't you come to bed?" I asked
"I wanted to watch some TV."
His hand touched mine. I looked down at our hands feeling his pulling me down. I sat down as his hand came to my neck pulling me to his lips. He kissed me slowly then I moved back feeling his hand come to my cheek.
"Are you really okay?" He asked
"I heard you and Catherine talking." I said
"And?"
I looked at him.
"Why don't you come back?"
His hand dropped and I missed his touch instantly. He took my hand again looking at my fingers.
"Sara, I have thought about it, but my life is not here anymore."
I looked down as he watched me.
"What about me?"
He watched me get up making my way to the bedroom shutting the door. I laid on my side as the door opened and I felt him slide into bed putting his arm around my waist. I moved onto my back looking up at him. He touched my cheek in the dim light. His lips came to my head then my lips. I felt a tear go down my cheek.
"Sara, I am not running from you." He whispered. "I love you."
I woke up the next day alone. Sitting up winching I put a hand through my messed hair.
"Grissom?" I called
Going out into the living room I saw a note on the couch. Picking it up I read it.
Sara, I got some food for you. I had to go back to Paris. I will call you.
Love, Grissom
I sat down looking at the note. Crumbling it into my hand I tossed it to the ground.
A few weeks later I walked into the lab looking for the one person that could help me. Catherine came out of her office when I came over to her looking upset.
"I'm pregnant!" I said
She opened her mouth to talk, but I beat her to it.
"I just found out."
"Come into my office." She said, opening the door pulling me inside.
I sat down touching my stomach. Catherine put her things on the desk then she leaned against it looking at me.
"Have you told Grissom?"
"No, I don't think he would want to know."
"Sara, of course he would want to know. You have to tell him."
"I don't know what to do. I never wanted kids."
"You need to tell him now." She said, getting her phone out dialing.
"I can't tell him now!" I said, standing.
She waved me off waiting for him to pick up. I sat down feeling sick.
"Hey Gil, it's Catherine. How are you?"
I watched her silently listen to him talking.
"No, everything is fine. Sara, wanted to talk to you."
I stood shaking my head as she handed me the phone.
"Hey." I said
"Sara, what's wrong?" He asked, concerned.
"Nothing really." I said, looking over at Catherine as she motioned with her hands to get on with it.
"Sara?" He called
"Gris, there is something I need to tell you."
"What is it?" He asked
"I…..I am pregnant." I said
He said nothing and that scared me. I knew he never wanted children.
"Are you there?" I asked, looking at Catherine as she stepped closer to hear.
"Sara….I…..just need a minute."
I lowered the phone then I passed it to Catherine leaving. Catherine sighed putting the phone to her ear.
"You're going to have to call her. She just walked out."
He sighed loudly.
"Cath, what do I do? She and I said we were never going to have kids."
"Gil, you need to talk to Sara."
"I know. Thank you."
Catherine hung up the phone and went out looking for me. I was sitting alone in the breakroom on the couch hugging my middle as I stared into space. Catherine walked over sitting beside me putting her arm around my shoulders.
"He will call you."
"He won't except it." I said
"Sara, he will. Just give him time." She said
I looked at her.
"No, I'll deal with it." I said "I made a mistake."
"Sara, please don't do anything rash." Catherine said
I stood walking out as Catherine watched me worried. Grissom tried calling me, but I didn't answer. I went home going to the bathroom throwing up. I heard my phone again as I laid on the floor.
Hours later the front door opened as Brass and Catherine came in.
"Sara?" Catherine called
"It's to quiet." Brass said, feeling uneasy.
Catherine followed him through the house. They went to the bedroom looking around not seeing me. The bathroom door was open just a crack.
"Sara?" Catherine called, walking over quickly opening the door.
She saw me on the floor next to the toilet.
"Sara!"
Brass got his phone out as Catherine knelt down moving me to my back. I felt hands on me and someone calling my name.
"Sara, what did you do?" She asked
I slowly opened my eyes seeing her.
"Can you hear me?" She asked
I weakly lifted my right hand out to her. She took it. Brass came in again looking at me worried.
"Ambulance is coming. What did she take?"
"I don't know. She hasn't said anything." Catherine said
"She is shaking her head." Brass said
I squeezed Catherine's hand to make her look at me. I pulled her hand so she would come closer. She leaned down so her ear was near my lips.
"B…baby gone." I said
She moved back looking at me.
"She lost the baby." Catherine said
"Baby…. what baby?" Brass asked
"She was pregnant." Catherine said, looking at him.
He stood back in shock.
"She just found out." She said "I'll go out and wait. Stay with her."
Brass moved letting her through then he moved kneeling down to me lifting me in his arms kissing my head. I moved my hands gripping his coat.
"It's okay." He said
The EMT's arrived taking me to the hospital. I had a miscarriage. I rested in the hospital room they put me in. Catherine walked in a few hours after they found me.
"Hey, how are you doing?" She asked
"Not that great." I said
"I called Grissom. He can't come, but he said he loves you."
I nodded hurt that he wouldn't come.
"Catherine, I did it on purpose." I said, looking down.
"What? You mean you made yourself miscarry?" She asked
I nodded not able to look at her
"Sara!" She said
I closed my eyes feeling a lone tear go down my cheek. My hands went over my stomach.
"Grissom didn't want it. I made the decision to end it." I said
She touched one of my hands as I wiped the tear from my cheek with my free hand.
Brass knocked on Catherine's office door later seeing her sitting at her desk rubbing her head.
"Hey." He said
She moved to sit back in her chair looking at him.
"Hey, do you need me?"
"No, I just wanted to talk to you." Brass said
"Have a seat." Catherine said
Brass sat down in a chair looking at her.
"I have been thinking about the Sara situation." She said
"Me to." Brass said "Did you come up with a solution?"
"No, you?" She asked
"No." Brass said "I feel powerless."
"We will lose her if we are not careful. She is very fragile right now."
"Yeah."
Catherine's cell phone rang and she looked at it.
"Gil." She said, before putting the phone to her ear. "Willows."
Brass watched her quietly.
"I am putting you on speaker. Jim is here to." She said, putting the phone down on her desk.
"Give me an update." Grissom said
"Well, she is in the hospital and they are keeping her there for a couple days." Catherine said, looking at Brass.
"What else?"
"We are very worried about her mental state." Brass said
"I am to." Grissom said
"Gil, there is something else. Sara did not have an accidental miscarriage." Catherine said
There was a pause.
"What do you mean?" Grissom asked
Brass looked at Catherine sighing.
"She purposely caused it."
"What?"
"She told me that she caused it to happen. That is why we are worried about her mental state." Catherine said
Grissom didn't talk for a moment.
"Why would she do that?" He asked
"I don't know." Catherine said, lying. "Gil, you need to come back."
"I can't come back. I am on a dig in Peru now." He said
"What is more important?" Brass asked
"Sara is important, but the next plane does not come back until next week." He said "Catherine, you need to take care of Sara until I can be there."
"Gil, you do understand I have a lab to run. We are very close to the busy month. I want to help, but I cannot babysit Sara."
"Please Catherine." Grissom said
Catherine sat back in her chair shaking her head at Brass.
"Jim and I can check on her from time to time, but we can't sit with her."
"Just do what you can. I have to go."
Catherine hung up angry.
"We are going to lose her. You and I can't take on this responsibility without him being here."
Brass nodded frustrated.
The doctor let me go on the second day. I went home by taxi walking up the stairs to the empty house. When I got inside, I just went to the living room couch laying down smelling Grissom's scent on the pillows. I closed my eyes hearing my phone go off. I dug it out of my coat pocket placing it to my ear.
"Grissom." I said
"Hey." Grissom said, gently.
"Hey." I said, closing my eyes.
"How are you feeling?"
"Not good." I said
"Are you home?"
"Yes, on the couch." I said "Where are you?"
"On a dig in Peru." He said
"Oh."
"Sara I am sorry about the…baby." He said
"Thanks." I said, touching my stomach.
"Listen, I can't be there for another week. You need to hang on until I can come home."
"I will be fine."
"I don't think you are. You are just hiding the pain."
I rubbed my chest where it hurt winching some.
"Sara?"
"I'm here." I said
"Are you all right?"
"My chest hurts." I said
He sighed worried.
"You should go." I said
"I am not going until I know you are okay."
"I am okay."
"No, you're not." He said
"I will be fine. You should go."
He didn't talk for a moment.
"Really, I am fine." I said, lying "Oh, someone is knocking."
"All right. I will call you later." He said
I hung up laying back down putting my phone on the coffee table before closing my eyes.
Catherine walked down the hallway of the lab quickly. Her phone rang and she answered.
"Willows."
"Catherine, have you talked to Sara?" Grissom asked
"I haven't had time. We just got a call of a bus crash that went into a casino on the strip." She said "It's going to keep us busy for a while."
"Please call to check on her when you can." Grissom said
"I'll try." She said, hanging up walking around the corner to the break room.
I slept on the couch waking up the next evening. My stomach growled as I went to my fridge getting out some Chinese I had left over. I ate it then went to the bedroom changing getting into bed lying down.
My phone rang and rang on the coffee table as I slept.
Brass opened the front door a day later looking around.
"Sara?" He called, closing the door. "Sara, it's Jim."
When no answer came, he walked into the living room seeing my phone on the coffee table. He opened the door to the bedroom seeing I was sleeping in bed.
"Sara?" He called
I slowly moved my head seeing him standing by the bed looking worried.
"Hey, I was worried about you." He said
"What time is it?" I asked, stretching.
"It's 10:00." He said
"What day?"
"Wednesday." He said
I sighed moving to a different spot then stilling. Brass sat on the bed touching my hand at my side.
"Are you all right?" He asked
"I have been thinking about the baby." I said
"What about it?"
"Do you think I should divorce Grissom?" I asked, looking at him.
"Sara, I know Gil loves you." He said
"I think I made a mistake." I said
"What do you mean?"
I looked at the ceiling not saying another word. Brass rubbed my hand feeling sad. He left soon after to go to work. I got up taking a shower then I sat on the couch in the living room looking at my phone and watching a movie. I ate some toast feeling my chest hurt. It stopped after a minute.
The next day I walked into the lab ready to get back to work. I found Catherine with the others looking over some photos in the lab. She saw me surprised.
"Sara, you need to go home." She said, after stepping out in the hallway.
"I want to work." I said
"You are still on medical leave. I can't let you work."
"Please let me. I am going crazy at home." I said
"No, you can come back on Monday." She said "Go home."
I watched her go inside again and look at the photos. I walked into the breakroom getting some coffee. A man walked by seeing me. He came in looking at me curiously.
"Hello?" He said "Are you new?"
I looked at him watching him come closer.
"No, I am Sara Grissom."
"Oh, yes." He said "I was told about you. I am D.B. Russell. I am the new Night shift Supervisor."
He lifted a hand out to shake mine. I slowly took it shaking his hand.
"I am sorry for your loss." He said
I nodded letting go of his hand.
"Thank you."
"Are you working tonight?"
"No, I came into work, but Catherine told me to go home." I said "I just stopped to have some coffee."
"I talked to Catherine, and she said I could have you on my team." He said
I looked at him again. My chest hurt and I reached up with my free hand rubbing the spot.
"Are you all right?" He asked "Does your chest hurt?"
"It comes and goes." I said, dropping my hand.
"Why don't you sit over on the couch?" He said
"I should go home."
"Please, just for a moment." He said, taking my arm.
I let him lead me over to the couch. I sat down and he sat on the coffee table infront of me. He took the cup I had placing it beside him on the table.
"May I?" He asked
I let him take my right hand so he could feel my pulse.
"Your heart is racing." He said
I took back my hand as he looked at me concerned.
"Do you drink a lot of coffee?" He asked
"Not a lot lately." I said
"Hey, what is going on?" Brass asked, walking in. "Sara, what are you doing here?"
"I should go." I said, trying to get up.
"You should sit down and rest." Russell said
"Are you all right?" Brass asked, walking over.
"I am fine! Please don't fuss over me." I said, standing. "I am going home."
Russell watched me go then he looked at Brass. I walked outside with a heavy heart not wanting to go home. Brass came out seeing me walking slowly to my car.
"Sara, wait a minute!" He called, running over.
I turned as he pulled me against him. I closed my eyes enjoying the contact.
"You can't go like this. Making us worry and then you leave." He said, before pulling me back to look at me.
I raised my head looking at him. His hand went to my cold pale cheek.
"Why don't you come stay at my place for a while? Till Gil gets back." He said
I blinked then my eyes closed, and I started to fall. He grabbed me by the waist pulling me up against him.
"Woah!" He said "Are you all right?"
I slowly moved nodding putting my hand to me head.
"I need to go home." I said
"I will drive you." He said
He didn't wait for an answer taking out his phone walking me to his car.
I woke up later noticing a lamp beside the bed on. I sat up not recognizing where I was. I got up walking slowly out of the bedroom seeing a unfamiliar living room. The front door opened, and Brass walked in seeing me.
"Hey, did you just wake up?" He asked, shutting the door.
"Where am I?" I asked
"My place." He said
"How did I end up here?" I asked
"I brought you."
"How? Why?" I asked
"You don't remember coming to the lab?" He asked
"No, when was I there?" I asked
"Earlier."
"You brought me here?" I asked
"Yes, are you hungry?" He asked
"Not really." I said
"When was the last time you ate?" He asked
"I think yesterday." I said
"I'll make something." He said, walking to another room across from the bedroom door. I walked over seeing it was a kitchen with a small round table in the middle of the room.
"Eggs?" He asked
"Fine." I said
"Have a seat." He said, taking off his brown coat rolling up his shirt sleeves.
I sat down in a chair fiddling with my fingers.
"Gil called me." He said
"Did he?" I asked, looking at the table.
"He wanted to know how you are." He said, preparing the eggs.
"Oh."
"I told him about staying at my place." He said
I nodded watching him put the scrambled eggs on two plates then placing them on the table with silverware and two glasses of water. He sat down across from me giving me a napkin then he began to eat.
"It's not poisoned." He said
I took the fork and picked at the eggs putting some in my mouth.
"Good, huh?"
I nodded eating some more.
"Gil is really worried about you." He said "I told him you were not doing very well."
I put the fork down sighing.
"I need to go home. Thank you for this." I said, standing.
"No, Sara you should stay. Why do you need to go home?" He asked
"Can you drive me to get my car?" I asked
I walked back to the bedroom as Brass followed.
"Sara, you are trying to be strong. I get that, but how long can you keep the emotions in?" He asked
"I don't know what your talking about." I said, as I sat on the bed tying my shoes.
"You lost something great."
"I lost nothing I cared about!" I yelled, standing.
"You're in denial." He said
"Leave me alone!" I said, glaring at him.
"Why are you hiding?" He asked
I shoved him out of my way before running out slamming the door. I ran to my house slamming the front door behind me. I slid down to the floor shaking.
Grissom opened the door to the house the next morning. He threw his bag down shutting the door looking around.
"Sara?" He called
When no answer came, he walked into the living room then to the bedroom opening the door.
"Sara?"
He carefully went to the bathroom looking inside not seeing me. As he walked out of the living room I opened and shut the door drenched in sweat breathing hard. Grissom watched me lean on the door a minute then I turned seeing him.
I blinked a few times trying to focus on him. He looked at me up and down silently.
"Grissom?" I said
"Sara….look at you!" He said
I looked down at myself then at him.
"I just went running." I said "What are you doing here?"
He quietly walked over looking at me concerned. His hand went to my wet cheek then my head.
"Stop it!" I yelled, swatting his hand.
"You look very sick, Sara." He said "How long have you been running?"
"I don't know. When did you get here?"
"A few minutes ago." He said
His hand touched my head again as I hit him harder.
"Stop!" I said, before pushing past him to go to the bedroom.
I went to sit down on the bed, but I missed it landing on the floor instead. Grissom knelt down to me.
"I'm fine." I said
He helped me onto the bed, and I laid back breathing slowly. Grissom left coming back helping me sit up and drink a glass of water.
"When I came back, I didn't expect you to be so bad." He said
I coughed laying against his chest.
"Your real." I said, touching him gently.
"Of course." He said, making me drink some more. I moved coughing again then I closed my eyes as he looked at me.
He put the glass down on the side table then he turned touching my neck. I was lifted up and taken to the bathroom. Grissom took my clothes off noting how thin I had become. He then turned the shower on putting me under it. I moved weakly as the spray hit me. He put soap on my body letting the water wash all the sweat off my body.
The water stopped and a towel was put over me. Grissom patted me dry then he left me to get some pajamas. When he came back, I was lying on the floor with a towel under me shivering. He put clothes on me and then picked me up again. I weakly touched his shirt as he laid me in bed. I opened my eyes looking at him as he leaned over me moving my wet hair back.
"Sara, I am going to stay here and take care of you." He said "If I don't you will die."
"You came back to me." I said, lifting my shaking hand to his cheek. "I thought you didn't love me."
"I do love you. I always will."
"Don't leave me again."
He sighed watching me go to sleep.
Brass opened the door peeking inside then he came in.
"Hello?" He called
Grissom walked out of the kitchen seeing him.
"Gil, good to see you. Catherine said you got in early." He said
"I am glad I did. Sara was looking bad." Grissom said
"Yes, I know." Brass said "Where is she?"
"In bed." Grissom said "Want some coffee?"
"Yes."
I moved thinking everything was a dream. I got up slowly feeling sick and dizzy. My stomach was hurting from hunger. I stood on wobbly legs walking slowly to the bedroom door. I could hear voices.
I thought the TV was on as I walked past the living room to the kitchen. When I entered, I saw Brass with a cup in his hand standing by the door and Grissom at the stove cooking something.
"Hey Sara." Brass said
I swallowed seeing Grissom walk over.
"Sara, you need to be in bed."
"Your not real." I said
He lifted my hand touching his face.
"I am real."
I touched his skin staring at him then things went dark. He caught me as I fainted.
"Geez!" Brass said
Grissom picked me up walking back to the bedroom. He laid me down as I slowly moved opening my eyes seeing him.
"Hey." He said
"How can you be real?" I asked
"I am very real." He said, kissing my lips.
I shivered as he moved back searching my eyes.
"I want you to stay in bed. I am making you something to eat."
"How?" I asked, or started to as he put his warm hand over my mouth.
"No more talking. I'll be right back."
He left and I laid back shocked at his appearance. The front door closed, and Grissom walked in with a bowl of soup. He put the bowl on the side table then lifted me up fixing the pillows so I could sit up. He sat down taking the bowl again. I looked at him as he lifted the spoon up to my lips.
"Open." He said
I opened my lips allowing the hot liquid to go down my throat.
"Good?" He asked
I slowly nodded.
He fed me more then he took the empty bowl away. I laid back against the pillows hearing him come back. He sat down again touching my hand then he leaned over kissing my lips. I kissed him back feeling all the doubt go away. He moved back smoothing his soft cheek over mine.
"Sara, I am so sorry."
"You love me?" I asked
"I do so much." He said, as he moved back looking at me. "I decided to quit the job in Paris and come back to you."
Tears went down my cheeks.
"You would do that?" I asked
"Yes."
I looked down at our hands sniffing. He waited while I collected myself before speaking.
"No, you need to follow your dream." I said
"My dream is to be with you forever. This job is pointless without you."
His phone went off as he let go of my hand to get it.
"Grissom." He answered
His other hand went to mine again.
"Yes, I am with her now." He said, looking at me.
I could hear the other person faintly talking.
"I'll be right back." He said, quietly.
I nodded watching him get up leaving the room. I closed my eyes laying my head back drifting. I must have gone to sleep. When I woke my chest was hurting. I tried to get up, but I couldn't.
"Grissom!" I called
The door opened and he walked in with an axe in his head and blood all over him. I screamed sitting up breathing fast as he appeared.
"It's okay." He said, sitting on the bed pulling me against him.
"You…. were dead!" I cried, holding him.
"No, I am not." He said
I began to cry trying to breathe.
"Sara, calm down." He said, gently. "Listen to my heartbeat."
I tried to do what he said, but it got worse. He laid me flat on the bed leaning over me.
"Calm….breathe." He said
I was scared. He nodded pushing my hair back.
"Calm…. that's it."
I felt better after a minute. He watched me closely.
"Good." He said
He pulled me up to lean on me as he kissed my head.
"Sara, I accepted a job at the lab." He said
I lifted my head moving back looking at him.
"No, you shouldn't do that."
"I already said yes." He said
I shook my head.
"No." I said
"It was my decision." He said
He pulled me against him, and I put my head against his shoulder looking to the side.
