Happy late Halloween everyone! TheKingHHH100 here, back from the dead to present you a new story. I apologize if I've been inactive this year but a lot of things happened to me, some which I may explain in a future update, but for now I wanted to post something for Halloween, though I couldn't make it in time but oh well, better late than never I suppose…
For those of you wondering about when I may update Ed 10, my original plan was to have Season 1 finished by the end of this year, but with all that stuff I mentioned, plus me wanting to focus on other personal projects, it became an impossibility. That begin said, I'll try to wrap it up by next year, though I don't think I'll be updating that story before that.
Anyways, hope you enjoy this Pokémon one-shot, which was inspired by a famous creepypasta (see if you can guess which one by the end of the story) and I hope you all had a great and spooky Halloween. On to the story!
Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon or any of its characters; all rights go to Nintendo and Game Freak.
Hehe… hehehe… hehehe…
Sorry about that, I can't hold my laughter… hehehe…
I'm really happy…
I did not use to understand why ghost Pokémon were always laughing… but now, I understand their devilish sense of humor.
Knowing you have control of both life and death… it makes you really happy. You know they fear you, you know that the simple sight of you causes such a level of fear in them that only death can ease. That makes me laugh… hehehe…
But I still remember my past… my past as a human…
It all began when I was a nine-year old child and I stole one of my brother's Poke Balls to catch a Pokémon for myself. My mother had told me that I would only get one when I became twelve like my brother did to begin his journey, but I didn't want to wait three more years, especially when kids only a year older than me were already getting Pokémon of their own and setting themselves in journeys.
With the Poke Ball in my hand, I made my way to an old mansion where my friends had told there were lots of Pokémon around. I really wanted to catch myself a Flying-type like a Pidgey, whom upon evolving into a Pidgeot I'd be able to fly on, or a Water-type I could ride on through the ocean, like a Lapras. But my dreams of finding any type of those Pokémon ended when I entered the mansion, which was scarier than I thought and especially full of one particular Pokémon type: Ghost.
I was already pretty scared about being in there alone, but that only got worse when I saw multiple pairs of red eyes and creatures I didn't even know about, and wasn't even sure at the time if they were Pokémon or something else, looking at me and my every movement. I was about to run out of there when suddenly something appeared right in front of me as I turned around, I was so scared that I instinctively threw the Poke Ball in my hand at it, not thinking about catching it but as some sort of protection. I closed my eyes in fear, thinking that didn't work and I was doomed, when after a few moments I heard a *click* sound and opened my eyes to see nothing in front of me but the Poke Ball laying on the floor.
I quickly took it and run away as fast as I could. When I got back home, my mother wasn't too thrilled about me arriving this late, but I was both scared and happy at the same time as I realized that whatever was inside the Poke Ball had to be in fact a Pokémon which I caught. I was nervous about opening the ball since I didn't know which Pokémon it was, and I thought it could be something as scary as the ones I saw back at the old mansion, yet I risked it and sent it out regardless.
At that moment, the Pokémon I caught came out and I was surprised by what it was, a Gastly. Its looks made me quite nervous, but I approached it anyways and we became good friends. My mother wasn't happy with what I did and didn't want me to have Gastly at home, so one night I snuck out of the house and ran away with Gastly to begin our journey. I walked a long way away from my town, when I arrived at the next big city, Saffron City. There was a Gym to challenge in there first but the leader was known for being quite strong and using Psychic-types, which both Gastly was good against but also had a disadvantage due to being part Poison-type, so I decided to keep traveling all the way to Vermilion City.
On the way there, we battle against many trainers and wild Pokémon. At first the battles were quite hard since we didn't have much experience in battling and Gastly was quite weak, but as we advanced we started gaining more experience and growing stronger. Sometime afterwards, we reached Vermilion City to challenge the Gym Leader in there. After battling some of the trainers at the Gym, I confronted the leader, a blond, tall and intimidating man dressed in a military uniform. I told him I wanted a battle, but he told me I was still too weak and refused. Furious, I send out Gastly anyways and told to use Night Shade against him, which made the tall man angry and he told me, "It looks like you got some spunk after all, brat. But you'll need more than that to defeat me, the great Lt. Surge!" before accepting my challenge.
Lt. Surge send out a Pikachu and we began our battle, which soon turned out for worse as Gastly wasn't powerful enough and that darn electric rodent was too quick to hit with our attacks. I thought we were going to lose when I suddenly heard a voice inside my head tell me that we needed more power, but for that I had to make a sacrifice. I was confused by this until I saw Gastly looking at me and realized it was talking to me through telepathy. I accepted without knowing, but I don't regret it. Then Gastly used an attack, a different kind of attack I hadn't seen before that, not even in Pokémon League matches, which it told me was named Curse.
Suddenly, I started feeling weak as Gastly did its attack, but I didn't care because it managed to defeat that Pikachu, which let out an awful scream of terror and pain as it fell to the ground unmoving. After that, my head felt quite heavy and there was a sharp pain in my left eye so I tried to leave for the Pokémon Center, but Lt. Surge came after us, furious for what we did to his Pokémon. Gastly used its Confuse Ray to make him dizzy so we could escape and ran to the Pokémon Center, where Nurse Joy received us while she was doing some work at her desk. I asked her for a room to spend the night as I felt tired and was somewhat scared about what just happened, which she accepted without turning to face me, but when I offered her Gastly's Poke Ball so she could heal it, she spun around and let out a huge scream of terror upon seeing me.
She nervously asked if I was okay, which I confusedly replied that yes, I was feeling quite tired but overall well. She told me to stay calm and hold up as she took me to another room, which I found quite odd as usually nurses only tended to Pokémon. However, as we got to the room I passed over a mirror, where I saw my reflection and then I was the one screaming this time. One of my eyes was missing, a black hollow replacing it on my face instead. Even though I wasn't losing blood nor feeling any pain, I was extremely scared as the nurse asked me what happened, to which I didn't know what to reply.
After Nurse Joy bind up my missing eye, she left me to rest and let me Gastly's Poke Ball. Once she left, I sent out Gastly and asked it about what happened, to which it telepathically replied in a sinister voice, telling me that was the sacrifice needed to gain more power, as every time I would tell it to use Curse, I'd lose a part of me until I die. Two days later, I left the Pokémon Center and ran into a trainer outside town, who challenge me to a battle. He sent out a Magnemite and Gastly managed to defeat it, without using Curse this time. After the battle however, Gastly finally evolved into a Haunter, which cheered me as now we were strong enough to challenge Celadon City's Gym Leader, though Saffron City's Gym Leader was still too strong for us.
Upon arriving there, we were ready to challenge the Gym Leader and I felt confident that we were strong enough after defeating many trainers and wild Pokémon, but the Gym Leader was stronger than I thought as she was wiping the floor with us. However, I didn't want to lose after all the training we did and in a blind moment of obstinacy, I ordered Haunter to use Curse. My fingers felt like they were being put through ameat-grinder but the attack managed to defeat her Gloom, which lifelessly fell to the ground. After seeing this, she sent out her Tangela to stop us while she called the police, but I told Haunter to use Curse again and it killed Tangela the same way it did Gloom.
At that moment, I felt my arm go limp and I realized it was missing. Things weren't looking good, but at least the Gym Leader surrendered so as not to risk any more of her Pokémon getting killed by Curse and allowed us to leave. I ran as fast as I could back to Vermilion City, where I hided inside Diglett's Cave. I felt tired and sad, but at least I had Haunter by my side, so I wasn't completely alone. After going through the cave, I came out at the other end near Viridian City and realized I was close to Pallet Town, home of the world's famous Professor Oak. I knew he was a brilliant Pokémon researcher and hoped that could help me with my little issue with Haunter's Curse.
But as I made my way there, I was confronted by a man in a black suit outside town, who claimed to be Viridian City's Gym Leader. He challenged me to a battle, saying he heard what I did to the other Gym Leaders' Pokémon. I sent out Haunter to battle the Onix he sent, and despite the deplorable aspect I was in, I told Haunter to use Curse since that Onix was too strong for us to defeat otherwise. I felt even more tired and this time one of my legs went limp, but we had to continue and he sent out two more Pokémon, a Rhyhorn and a Dugtrio. I had no other option, if I wanted to advance and go see the professor, I had to defeat this guy no matter what, so I told Haunter to use Curse again both times and despite my decreased physical integrity, we managed to defeat them.
As a result of this, my nose also disappeared from my face, and I looked like a complete disfigured monster. The Gym Leader didn't seem too fazed about getting three of his Pokémon killed like the others did, but nonetheless he relented and left us continue. I was really tired and now missing a leg, so I had to limp and crawl my way to Pallet Town, but when I arrived at Professor Oak's lab there was nobody in there. I fell to the ground and couldn't move as the rest of my body gave up on me. Haunter came out of its Poke Ball and also looked pretty tired, then telepathically told me that its Curse attack also consumed part of its life force and would soon die like me as a result, but there was one last hope for both of us.
Haunter told me that if we fused our souls and formed a new being, we'd be able to live forever, neither as human or Pokémon but as something else, a soul reaper, a Ghost, and we'd have fun like we always had. My body was starting to completely disintegrate this time and I knew this would be the end for both of us, so I accepted and took Haunter's hand as it also started fading away, then we began to fuse like two pieces coming together to become whole. Now we were complete and noticed that there were three Poke Balls located at a table inside the lab. We decided to place our Poke Ball in there as well and went inside it, waiting for someone to pick us as their starter so we can have our fun again and kill some more. But I don't feel sad as, despite the price I paid, I loved killing those Pokémon…
The sensation of power I feel now is… incredible…
Hehe… hehehe… hehehe…
And that's it! Hope you enjoyed this story and if you read it all I sincerely appreciate it. For those of you wondering which creepypasta I was referring to, it's called Pokémon Black (not the game) which this fic serves as a sort of prequel if you want. You can read that creepypasta if you haven't already and tell me what you think of it, anyways once again hope you all had a great Halloween and I'll see you next time!
