"Is he still asleep?" Marinette groaned as she peeked in on her husband, Adrien. She peeked into their room and she could only spot the top of Adrien's messy blonde hair sticking up from the sheets. And he said he was just taking a cat nap, she thought to herself.
Hoping he'd smell the pancakes she was planning to make, she wandered into the kitchen. It was Halloween and their children we're at Marinette's parents decorating cookies and coloring. She knew Emma would have a good time, but she wondered how Louis and Hugo were doing as her other two children were a little shy. Marinette hummed as she stirred the batter, and dug in one of the drawers for some cookie cutters.
She was hoping the pancakes would come out pumpkin shaped and she even used a bit of food coloring (one orange and one green for the stem). Tikki flew around Marinette, looking curiously into the bowl.
"Can I have a taste when the pancakes are ready?" Tikki asked, hopefully. "Of course. But first, I need to wake the sleeping fur ball."
Marinette cooked eggs and bacon as well and set them on a tray, thinking she and Adrien would have a special Halloween breakfast in bed. She eyed the tray critically. What could she add that would complete the tray? A rose from their garden, of course!
Adrien had planted the rose bush back in the summer, and were Marinette's favorite flower. Dashing quickly into the frosty air, she plucked one and ran back inside. Ah, that looked so much better!
She carried his tray in singing softly, "Adrien, breakfast is ready!" No response from her husband, expect a soft snore. Thinking she'd surprise him, she set the tray down.
Crawling under the white sheets she felt like a ghost, which was fitting for today. Adrien felt something climbing on him, but the bed was so warm and cozy he didn't move.
Marinette popped her head from the covers, smiling. Its showtime, she thought. Crawling up a bit further, she leaned down kissing Adrien on the lips. Adrien's sleepy eyes flew open at the sudden sneak attack, even though he enjoyed it.
"Well, I never thought we'd have bedbugs, Princess. But I think there's a giant one in my covers." Marinette huffed igantly, playing along. "For your information, I'm a beautiful Ladybug!"
Adrien wrapped his arms around Marinette's waist. "You are, love, and now you get tickled!" Marinette squealed at Adrien's sudden advance, and she laughed out loud. "I thought you'd think I was ghost," she said, "a big white sheet moving?"
"If there are ghosts in the room, I think they'd swipe the pancakes, Bugaboo." Adrien smiled at Marinette's creative work. Why, she could even make breakfast look like a work of art!
The happy couple enjoyed their Halloween breakfast, and Adrien kept one eye open the rest of the day, making sure no ghost did a sneak attack unless it was Ladybug!
