"I wish we could go to the Halloween party," Tikki sighed, looking up at Marinette. Marinette and Adrien were throwing a Halloween party, but their Kwamis had to stay hidden up in Marinettte's room. "I know, but you know the rules. I promise to bring you back some treats." "And don't worry, Plagg. Marinette and I will stop by Leo's and get some of that special cheese you like." "I am sorry," Marinette said.
When the trapdoor shut, Tikki sighed. It wasn't good to mope about it. Suddenly, she had a idea! "Plagg, maybe we can make a drawing for Adrien and Marinette. Sorta like a thank you for being such good owners," Tikki suggested. "That's a good idea, Sugar Cube. Anything to take my mind off the yummy cheese."
"Marinette has some markers on the cup holder on her desk. Can you get a piece of paper?" Plagg nodded, tearing off a sketchbook piece of paper from Marinette's sketchpad. "Maybe we can make a wheel of cheese!" Plagg said. "No, Plagg! Its going to a pumpkin! I'll draw the outline and you can fill it in."
Plagg watched Tikki as she worked. "I'm so glad our owners are finally together. They seem so much happier now." "Well, don't tell Adrien this, but Marinette would talk in her sleep sometimes about how much she missed him. Cat too, even though she'd never admit it. There would be times when she would look faraway or sad, and when I would ask her she would avoid the question. Then she'd throw herself into a project to distract herself."
"Keeping busy is a good way of doing that," Plagg said. "Adrien would practice the piano for hours, and when I asked him, he said he was writing a song for Ladybug, when he wasn't writing in his journal or making poems for her." "Adrien writes poems?" Tikki squeaked. "That's so romantic!" "To sweet if you ask me," Plagg said, crossing his little arms. "If Adrien gets any sweeter on Marinette, he's going to get cavities." "Maybe you'll find it romantic too one day, if you can stop thinking about cheese."
"Never!" "You can fill in the pumpkin now." Plagg carefully filled in the orange circle and then Tikki made the eyes and a snuggle tooth smile. "What should we say?" She asked, picking up a pencil and was poised to write a message.
"Dear Ladybug and Cat Noir,
Thanks for being the best owners ever. And we're not just saying that because you give us macaroons or cheese. Your my best friend whether we're having a late night movie marathon, or dancing to Clara Nightingale. You are special, and you are loved. We will always be here for you, if you want to talk or just need a hug. Your the best Ladybug and Cat Noir we've ever had. Pound it!
Tikki and Plagg
"Wow, you can be sentimental after all, can't you, Plagg?" Tikki giggled. "Yeah, but it doesn't happen very often, Sugar Cube so don't get used to it."
"Let's go up the balcony and see if we can spot any trick-or-treaters," Tikki suggested.
It was a perfect night for trick-or-treating, and the sky was just turning purple with the streetlamps winking on one by one. "Its all so magical," Tikki said, the scent of Marinette's roses was heavy in the air. In the distance, the lights of the Eiffel Tower glowed brightly, tonight a special orange color themed for Halloween.
"Look, Tikki! Its Andre the ice cream man!" Andre was singing away as he handed out ice cream. To familiar faces stood out in the crowd and Tikki nudged Plagg. "Look, its our owners!" Sure, enough Adrien and Marinette stood in the crowd, holding hands.
Plagg smiled as he saw Adrien's hand wrapped around Marinette's, his thumb rubbing the back of her knuckles. Marinette's face was glowing softly, and Adrien looked about the happiest Plagg had ever seen him. His throat got a lump for a moment, Adrien was such a good kid, and he deserved love and happiness.
"You okay?" Tikki asked, peering at the other Kwami closely. It almost looked like Plagg was tearing up, and what was he brushing away from his eye? "Just allergies!" Plagg blurted, and Tikki smiled. Yeah, he likes just a hint of romance.
Soon, it was getting chilly and Plagg and Tikki went back inside, snuggling in the sock Marinette had made for them, and took a nap.
Voices woke them sometime later, and it was Adrien and Marinette back from the party. "Well, did you to behave?" Marinette teased lightly as she set down a plastic jack-o-lantern pail. "We made you something," Tikki said, shyly.
The two heroes read the card together, and Tikki could see Marinette's lip start to wobble as she read. Adrien put an arm around her shoulders. "You okay, Princess?" "Come here, Tikki. You too, Plagg."
Both owners hugged their Kwamis fondly, thinking back over the memories. "I Boo you," Marinette said. "Which means, "I love you" but since its Halloween I'm using the word boo." "Do you Boo me, Bugaboo?" Adrien asked, with a mischievous grin, and Marinette laughed and hugged Adrien. "Silly Kitty. I meow you."
"I meow you too, love," Adrien said, giving her a little kiss. Everyone enjoyed the Halloween treats, but Tikki and Plagg felt the card they made was the best treat ever, seeing their owners happy surprise.
It had been a quiet Halloween for the cat and ladybug, but it was good Halloween all and all. There wasn't any witches over the skies of Paris, but a black cat lay purring in the arms of his Princess.
