After walking the busy streets, Effy finally arrived at the destination. On the way there she had almost changed her mind and turned around but she decided that she had to go through with this. For two reasons.

The first being the obvious. She owed it to Freddy to make things right, especially after she had screwed up so badly when he was alive, and the second being that she owed this person in particular, an apology for the way she had treated them, and the way she had used them when Freddy was unavailable.

Taking a deep breath she knocked on the door and waited for an answer. Within seconds the door opened and Cook stood before her.

"Ef. Didn't expect to see you here...or anywhere." He greeted, surprised by her visit.

"Neither did I to be honest. Can I come in? I need to talk to you." She asked, clutching the teddy bear that Freddy had given her earlier, back in the cemetery.

"Uh..yeah sure, of course." He agreed, and opened the door wider to allow her to go through.

Once inside, he cleared of the sofa and made room for her to sit down. When they were both sat, he asked the first question that struck his curious mind.

"What was it that you wanted to talk about?" He asked, still unsure of whether she was going to yell at him or not.

"Cook...oh where do I even begin? I don't even know how to say it, I've never been honest like this before." She began, silently freaking out. It was true that she didn't know what to say. She had never had a proper conversation like this before. Not even with Freddy.

"Say what?" He quizzed, growing confused.

"Say that I...I...I'm sorry." She stammered.

"Oh my God! Am I hearing you correctly? Did Effy Stonem just apologise to me?" He said in disbelief, he wasn't quite sure that he had heard her right.

"No I'm serious Cook. I am sorry. For everything, the lying, the stringing you along, using you when Freddy was with Katie. All of it. Even for earlier." She explained further. For once when she was speaking, it was coming from both her head and her heart, not from no where.

"Nah you're cool Ef. We all fuck up at times. I forgive you...oh and before I forget, there is something that I must give you." He replied, getting up and searching around the room for something.

"Like what?" She asked curiously.

"Ah...found it. Freddy asked me to give you this about a week before he died. He wasn't daring enough to sneak in when you weren't allowed visitors. I never got the chance to since you didn't wanna see me." Cook explained presenting her with a teddy bear.

She looked at him with a frown across her face.

"What is it? Why you looking at me like I just shot a panda bear?" He asked.

"Don't you see what I'm holding right here?" She quizzed, waving the bear that Freddy had given her earlier in his face.

"See what? Ef you're not holding anything. All you're doing is waving your hands in my face." He explained.

"But...earlier...in the graveyard. Freddy gave me the exact same bear. I swear it Cookie I swear I'm not crazy." She stated, desperate for someone to believe her and listen to her.

"I know. I never thought you were. I just think that you're so caught up in your grief that your mind created him as a way to cope." Cook said, trying to be as comforting as possible, even though he had little experience.

"I can't do it! I need someone to believe me! I need someone to see what I see!" She cried, growing hysterical.

"Hey hey hey...calm down sweetheart. You're gonna make yourself ill." He responded, dropping the teddy bear and pulling her into his arms as she lost it and completely fell apart.

"You believe me don't you?" She asked, her voice muffled by his shoulder.

"Of course I do. I mean, I believe that you are seeing Freddy." He said, hoping that it would calm her down.

Whatever was going on with her, she needed someone to help her through it, and with Freddy gone, he was the only one who could understand her pain.
