I've always liked the snow. The way it looks like clouds blanketing the ground and the way it sparkled as though glitter has been thrown over the top of it, I've always found it magical. I sat on my windowsill watching the snow start to fall, piece by piece it slowly floated down and nestled itself on the green grass. In the background I could hear my father shouting at the television, he was watching a football game and as usual he was accustomed to watching it with a drink in his hand. This wouldn't be such a bad thing If he didn't get angry once the alcohol touched his lips but alas this wasn't the case.

"Noelle!" my father bellowed making me jump out of my skin, I stood up and walked over to him "Yes, father?" I said quietly looking at him. He held out the empty bottle of beer and I took it from him "Another one." He gruffed. I nodded and moved quickly to the kitchen to grab another bottle of beer, I walked back into the room and handed it to him. He looked at me at swatted his hand in my direction "Leave now. I want some peace and quiet." He demanded and I moved out of the living room and upstairs to my bedroom, I grabbed my favourite green jumper from my wardrobe and grabbed my outdoor boots and placed them on my feet, tying them up securely. I quickly and quietly grabbed made my way downstairs and grabbed my coat before exciting out the door.

As I stepped into the cold air it felt like I could breathe again and didn't have to walk on edge all the time, I placed my coat over my small frame and began walking down the street heading for the hiking trails of the forest. When myself and my father moved here after my mother died, I went and explored the small town of Forks and ended up down the hiking trails of the forest, I strayed from the path and found a lovely clearing full of snowdrops and bluebells, my favourite flowers. I spent most of my time there, just enjoying the peace of it all.

I was getting closer to the clearing, the snow crunching underneath my feet with every step. I climbed over a fallen tree to get to the slope which led straight to where I wanted to be and all was going well until I slid on some ice that I didn't see and began hurtling down the slope, I tried to stop my fall, but I just couldn't. I stopped tumbling when I crashed into a rather large rock. I let out a groan as I brought my hand up to my head and when I pulled it away it was covered in blood. I slowly got to my feet and took off the hood of my coat and wrapped it up pressing it against my head. I felt a pain in my leg as, so I looked down to see my jeans ripped and a rather large gash situated there too. I knew I needed to get to the hospital, I knew I couldn't patch this up myself and so slowly but surely, I made my way back up the slope and back down towards the town. The hospital wasn't too far from the hiking trails and thankfully I got there quite quickly.

I looked up at the doors of the emergency department and began making my way up the steps, my leg throbbing more and more. I entered the building and looked around, it was nicely decorated, the walls where a bright light and the furnishings were a mix of blues and greens. I made my way over to the desk and the receptionist noticed me and stood up "Oh dear me! Looks like you've had quite a spill there! If you hold on here a moment, I'm going to get one of the nurses to take you straight to a room." She said with concern in her eyes, I think the blood had soaked my hood as I could now feel it dripping down my face, she quickly moved down the hallway and in moments she was coming down the hall with a man wearing green scrubs, he was tall and had messy brown hair. He walked straight over to me "Hi, my names Max. I'm one of the ER nurses, if you can follow me, we can try and stop some of that bleeding." He said politely and I nodded, we walked down the hall where we entered one of the examination rooms, he grabbed some gauze and a bandage. I sat down and he crouched so he was at my level "I'm just going to take this off of your head and then I'm going to bandage it up." He said informatively with a hint on gentleness in his voice "Okay." I replied and he gently took the hood off my head and immediately placed the gauze over the top causing me to wince "Sorry, dear." He said with a sympathetic smile and began to secure the gauze with a bandage, he then looked at my leg and began to bandage that too. When he was finished, he looked at me "Can you tell me your name?" he asked, "My name is Noelle Ashwood." I responded and he grabbed a chart and started writing it down "How old are you, Noelle?" I looked at my hands "I'm 16." I watched as he wrote that down too, he looked back up at me "So how did this happen?" he asked and I sighed "I was walking the hiking trails when I slipped on ice and fell down a slope, I hit a rock at the bottom which cut my head and I think my leg must have caught something on the way down." He began to write again and then put the chart down "Okay, so I'm going to have a doctor come see you shortly to see what needs to be done with your head and your leg, it shouldn't take long." He stood up and gave a smile as he walked to the door and made his exit.

Whilst I was awaiting the doctor, I took a good look around the room, the walls were a bright white the same as the reception but everything else was a oft grey colour. My leg was now bouncing up and down in anticipation now, I didn't mind hospitals but I did mind needles and so I was hoping that my wounds could be glued but it wasn't up to me. I almost jumped when the door clicked open and in walked another man, I was stunned at his looks. He didn't look like he should be a doctor but a model or something. He had blonde hair, which was neatly slicked back, and he had the most vibrant golden eyes which I'd never seen an eye colour like that before. He picked up the chart and smiled at me "Hello, I'm Dr. Cullen, I can see you have a nasty wound on your head and your leg. Would you mind if I looked at your head first?" His voice was soft like velvet as he spoke and I took a breath "Yeah, that's okay." I said nervously and he smiled encouragingly as he grabbed some supplies from the cabinet and placing them in a tray, he then wheeled over a stool and sat on it, so he was in front of me "I'm going to clean the wound first so I can see what's going on and then I'll decided where we go from there." He spoke calmly and I nodded, he began to undo the bandage and pulled the gauze away to reveal the gash on my head, he grabbed some sterile swabs and began to clean around the wound. Once he was done, he began prodding around it, his hands were cold, very cold but I tried not to take notice "So Noelle, I'm afraid that your head is going to need stitches." He looked at me and I shook my head "Can it not be glued?" I asked feeling anxiety rise in my body, he smiled sympathetically "I'm afraid not, the wound is too deep, and the glue wouldn't hold." He explained and I could feel the tears welling in my eyes "Can you tell me what you're worried about?" Dr. Cullen asked seeing me start to well up "I, I have a fear of needles." I quickly wiped my eyes and looked at the floor, he placed a hand on my shoulder "I promise you Noelle that it will be quick, and I'll be a gentle as possible." I looked up at him and I wanted to believe him, I just gave a small nod, and he stood up from his stool "What I'm going to have you do is lay down on the exam table." He informed and I did as I was told, I laid down on the bed and looked at the ceiling, I could hear him grabbing more things from the cupboard, he walked over and placed the tray next to me, but I didn't look at it "Right so I'm going to numb the area first." He said calmly and I shook my head "I can't do this." I felt the tears well in my eyes again and could feel my breathing starting to get faster and faster "It's okay, Noelle. Just breathe." His voice was gentle, and I did try to compose myself "I'm sorry." I said wiping my eyes once again "It's okay, your fear is completely justified, I promise I won't let anything bad happen." I really wanted to believe him and so I just shut my eyes, I felt his cool hand on my head and then a sharp pinch that caused me to wince "You're doing so well." He encouraged and after a few more I heard him place the syringe back down on the tray "Well done, that's the worst part." I opened my eyes and took a breath "That was …okay." I said quietly and he let out a small chuckle "I don't break my promises."
I watched as he began to thread the suture onto the needle "Right are you ready?" he asked, and I nodded "Yeah." He smiled at me and then began to careful suture up the wound on my head, I didn't feel anything apart from a slight tugging sensation, but it didn't hurt.
"Right, that's your head all stitched up and now let's have a look at that leg." I couldn't believe he'd finished stitching up my head so quickly, he began to unwrap the bandage on my leg and began to clean as he had done my head, he then gave me a sympathetic look "I'm sorry but this needs stitches too." I let out a groan and sighed "More needles?" I said looking at him and he nodded "I'm afraid so." I wasn't as scared this time as the needles in my head didn't really hurt and so I put on a brave face.

The injections in my leg I didn't really feel at all thankfully and before I knew it my leg was also stitched up. I watched as Dr. Cullen stood up "I'm going to give you a prescription for some painkillers and your father has been contacted and Is waiting in the reception for you." A look of horror formed on my face, Dr. Cullen tilted his head, and a look of concern came over his features "Is everything alright?" he asked, and I nodded "Yes sorry." Was all I could say as I got up from off the bed, my father was going to kill me for having him and his drinking disturbed. "Alright, well no more hiking or exercise until you're all healed, if you need anything you are more than welcome to come back." The doctor said politely and held the door open as I walked through it and down to reception. My father was stood by the doors looking furious, I looked sheepishly at him as I walked over "Lets go. Now." He grumbled and without a word I followed him out to the car.

"Why the fuck did you tell them to call me." He growled as soon as we got in the car. I shook my head "I didn't say anything, I'm sorry." Was all I could say, he started the car and looked at the road "You will be sorry." Was all he said, I ducked my head. I knew he meant it.
