"Effy... Effy... Can you hear me?" A familiar voice desperately spoke to her.

"Freddy?" She muttered, only half conscious.

"No, Ef... It's me. Tony." The voice corrected her.

"Tony?" She questioned.

"Where the hell have you been? I- I got a call from your friend Cook, he told me that you ran away while at the cemetery... I stepped out to look for you, what the heck were you thinking?" He rambled, trying to remain calm.

She didn't try to speak, and instead blinked her eyes a few times to focus her vision, and then stared at her brother, who was hovering above her while propping himself up with his hand on the pavement.

"Speak to me, Effy... Please." Tony pleaded.

"I tried." She whispered.

"Tried? Tried what?" He questioned, confused.

"Take me to Freddy..." She requested.

"Wha- Freddy's dead, Ef... I don't know-" Tony rambled, trailing off as he realised what she meant.

"Don't... Don't even think about it." He warned her. "Now, come on... Let's get you cleaned up and then we can talk." He added, lifting her up into his arms and carrying her in the direction of the house.

Back at Home...

"Are you decent yet?" Tony called, tapping on his sister's bedroom door.

"Dressed, yes. Decent? No." She called back.

Rolling his eyes at her strange way of speaking, he reached out and opened the door. He located Effy standing by the window that he used to when the room was his long ago, looking out over opposite row of houses and road that separated the two sides.

"Are you ready to talk now?" He questioned.

"Yeah... I guess." She sighed, knowing that their conversation was the first step leading up to saying goodbye to Freddy forever.

"Look, I know you don't want to do this, but it's what you need." He began. "And I know what you're going through, I've been through it myself and-" He added, but she was quick to interrupt.

"No, you haven't. Yeah, Chris died. But Chris was your friend. Freddy was everything to me. I loved him for real. You wouldn't know what that's like because you behaved like a complete wanker towards Michelle." She snapped.

Dumbfounded by her words, Tony knew that she was right. He had lost Chris, but he didn't love the guy. Not in the same way that Effy loved Freddy. He could also agree with the other part of what she'd said. The way he had treated Michelle was unacceptable. Though that didn't mean he didn't love her; just that he was a fool who didn't know a good thing when he had it. He felt his face light up as a light bulb came on in his brain. He hadn't lost Michelle to death, but he had still lost her. That was his window to truly get through to his sister.

"You're right, Ef. I don't know what it is like to watch the one I love die, and I did behave like a... an ass towards her... But at the end of the day, I still lost Michelle. I know she didn't die, but after how I treated her she doesn't want anything to do with me; not that I can blame her for that. It still hurts all the same though." He told her.

"Stop! Stop trying to understand my level of pain. You will never understand. Yeah, you got hurt by your own doing but in the end, there's still a small chance that Michelle will come back to you. I don't get that chance. I let myself go... I tried to end... I ended up in a clinic with a fake counsellor that ended up killing Freddy. What's worse is that counsellor used tricks to make me forget everything. Things that I want to remember. So, tell me, Tony, where's the happy ending in that?" She questioned.

"Because, despite the fact that Freddy is gone, there's still a chance for you. You can focus on healing and then one day you will find the strength to love again." He pointed out.

"Really?" She questioned in disbelief. "Because I don't see that." She informed him. "All I see is pain and misery until I'm reunited with Freddy." She added.

Tony's eyes widened. He'd never heard her talk like that before, but then again, when he'd lived here she had been mostly mute. All he knew was that he hated the way her sentence sounded.

"Tell me that you didn't mean what I think you meant by that." He pleaded.

"I can't say give you the answer you want to hear, Tony. I would be lying if I did." She told him.

"Alright... Then tell me the truth. Tell me what that sentence really meant and then we'll go from there." He prompted.

"I can tell you... But you're not going to like it..." She warned him.

"Enough, Ef! Just tell me, please." He begged.

"I don't want to live anymore. Every second I do is filled with pain and heartache... But I have a plan to fix everything..." She admitted.

"What plan?" He asked, though afraid to hear the answer.

"On the six month anniversary of Freddy's murder... I'm going to be with him. Forever." She said, confirming his suspicions.

The room fell silent. Tony didn't know what to say that would make any of this better, and Effy didn't want to tell him anymore because she knew he would try to change her mind. She looked over her brother's shoulder, and saw Freddy standing by the desk near the door; a grim expression was also on his face.
