Play Time

One day, in a small quiet neighborhood called Casa Corners, all over there was no bird that was outside of their fine houses. Including a group of four young birds, inside a large house, each sitting on a couch. Two of them had their beaks face down as they were sitting upside down, and the other two were right side up, but had their beaks face up at the ceiling. All of them appeared to be exhausted and bored out of their minds, not focusing on an opportunity in front of them that spelled, "Have fun this summer."

They all just stayed their position. The upside down birds were both males. A military macaw and a yellow parakeet. The rightside up ones were females. A buffy-fish owl and a toucan. The four together were young friends and spent their days doing whatever they wanted. But with their current summer day…away from the education house they had nothing new to do. And after spending a whole hour of sitting around, one of them thought it was finally time to speak.

(Tiago) Joseph the Military Macaw said, "So…how long has it been now since summer started?"

"Uh, almost two days?" (Carla) Lonnie the Owl replied.

So the whole group responded "Ugh!" in a whining tone.

(Sophia) Amelia the Toucan said, "We were done with school for not even half a week, and already we've finished everything we wanted to do for the summer."

(Vince) Julian the Parakeet, "Which is not really saying much since what we did…is the same thing we do everyday."

Joseph sarcastically replied, "Thanks for clearing that up, Julian."

Amelia, "Uh, actually Joseph, I agree with him. Everyday it literally is the same thing for us. After school, we finish up as much of our homework as we can together…"

Lonnie, "Then spend our coins at the neighborhood's snack store, play video games at home…"

Julian, "After that, we end our time by heading to the playground and riding our bikes around the neighborhood. All before going home and finishing what else we need for the day. Literally everyday."

Joseph cleared his throat. "Okay, I see your point. And after all this time, I'm noticing how that is becoming too cliche."

"Uh-huh."

"But what else do you want to do? You guys never suggested anything, and recently my parents' boss hasn't been giving them enough to add in their paycheck. So we can't buy or go anywhere too new or exciting."

Lonnie, "Um, I think the same goes for my family. They've been trying to save up more since we remodeled our house."

"Same here." Julian and Amelia said in unison.

Julian, "My parents are remodeling too."

Amelia, "And my mom and dad make me save up so much just for the sake of responsibility. Not constant free-time."

Joseph, "Okay…so if there is anything we can do, can't we at least think of it?"

Lonnie, "I can't think of any. Though, are you sure there's nothing either of us have that we haven't tried in a long time? Like maybe an old video game?"

"Nope. Everytime we play a video game it's always here, and the games we've played have been…wait. I have an idea, stay here for a second." Joseph stood up with his talons, looking optimistic over something. So he immediately ran out of the living room, leaving his friends confused. Then, half a minute later, they heard Joseph, sounding like he was struggling as he said, "I have something!" His friends looked and saw him carrying a massive black chest on his back. They planned to help him, but soon he flopped it on the living room floor, confusing the three more. So Joseph said, "My friends, take a look at these old dinosaurs."

He picked a lock with his talons, and opened it, revealing "Toys?" Said Lonnie.

"Yeah." Joseph happily responded. And spoke again as his friends looked at the number of toys inside the large chest. "Listen to this: When I was younger, I used to play with my old action figures all the time, and when I wanted more, my dad made up this game. Each of us would grab one toy and take turns telling our own made-up story based on them. Whoever would show off the best story became the winner, and he would get to decide whether or not to get a new toy."

"Ha. That…actually sounds pretty fun." Julian chuckled.

"Yep. Especially since I win everytime, not to brag. We were able to play this once a week, and everytime I'd win, he'd buy me at least one new toy at the store. Lucky for him, I never asked for the expensive ones."

Amelia, "Cool. So, are you saying that we should play this game?"

"Uh-huh. Each of us has to grab one toy and tell your own best story based on it. Those who wait their turns can be the judges, and whoever wins can decide what all of us can do for today. Or even less than a week. What do you think?"

Julian, "I'm in."

Amelia, "Why not? It sounds fun, and now that I think about it, there is one activity I want to try with you guys after this. Something involving arcades."

Joseph, "Then you better hope you win this. What about you, Lonnie?"

Lonnie looked hesitant. So she slowly spoke. "Uh…I'm not much of a story maker. I think I'd be better off as a judge."

"Okay then. Just know you're gonna wait a while if you want to set up an activity for us. Until then, who wants to go first?"

Julian looked at Amelia, she smiled, suggesting that she wanted him to go first. "I guess I am. Alright, let's see." He reached into the toy box with his wing, taking a good look at every awesome looking action figure character he liked when he was younger. Then finally, he spotted one toy that seemed interesting. Only when he looked at it, he saw that it was no ordinary toy. It was a rare one of a kind figure he thought he'd never see again. So he said with anxiety and excitement, "No way. You…you have a (Eduardo) Detective Ballard action figure?"

"Yes?" Joseph wondered why his best friend seemed so happy.

"Holy cow. Joseph, you are officially my hero. Do you know how much I admire this old character? It's Detective Ballard! One of the oldest and most iconic superheroes of all time. He's been around for about as long as the first ever comic book, and his was the best. The one gray hawk that could sense anything from a mile away, could stop any bad guy no matter how strong they were, and solve any case flat."

Amelia, "That sounds cool, Julian. But I can't say I've ever heard of him."

Lonnie, "Same here. Though this does sound like a good opportunity to make up your own story about him."

Julian, "Oh yeah. How about I start with this? My own ultimate version of his first issue. That one wasn't as popular as the rest, but I know very well how to make it better."

Joseph, "Well then, by all means, buddy, give it a whirl."

"Okay. It all started this one night. In Downtown Nestopoulos, a storm was brewing, and inside one small building was the famous Detective Ballard. Sitting in his office…waiting for the next case of his life to start. Which would be coming sooner than he thought…"

Notes & Disclaimers:

This was inspired by Rio, Blue Sky IP

The Flying Stories is my IP.

• "Tiago," from Rio, plays the character "Joseph" the Military Macaw.

• "Carla," from Rio, plays the character "Lonnie" the Owl.

• "Sophia," from Rio, plays the character "Amelia" the Toucan.

• "Vince," from Rio, plays the character "Julian" the Parakeet.

• "Eduardo," from Rio, plays the character "Detective Ballard."

What you just read was the (so far) last chapter of the "Flying Legends." Like the first one to this, I actually never posted this one before my mission, but still, it's part of the series. It will also be the last chapter of "My Entertainment" where the characters were labeled the way they were. For the next chapters, I will try to make them different.

So until I make any new chapter, I hope you guys liked seeing the (somewhat) renewed stories, and are willing to stick around for these other announcements and details I want to share.

First off, this chapter was originally called "Play Time Part 1," but even while making this, I was probably not too optimistic about it. So if I decide not to continue it eventually, I'm just calling it "Play Time."

Second, I want to say that for a while, I've tried reading other stories. Though I haven't always read some of the new ones made by my friends here. But I may get back into it, just know that I'll again be doing it at my own pace.

Third, from now on, if I make something that works as just an announcement post, it will be included in my story: "Another One." If I didn't already establish that.

So with that, Thank you all for reading my stories, and I will see next time. As well as try to see what good comments from you guys I should respond to next.

Thanks again, and have a great one.
