A/N: Hey, everyone! It's, uh, been awhile, and I'm back with the awful (and cheesy!) puns for my story titles.
I'll save the update stuff for after the story ends, so please, please read that! But do remember that my story is heavily inspired by Lyra Kamiya! I loved their style of writing in Apples and Derpheads. I'll be using their style of writing as inspiration for a few possible future fanfictions about the anime.
Oh, and also, if you noticed that I uploaded this story twice, it's because I took the one from last night down, and edited it heavily. There was a lot that I was unhappy with, so I changed some things.
Anyways, sorry for the long intro, onto the story. Quick disclaimer, I do in fact own Pokemon. All of it. This story will be canon soon and Oshawott will replace Pikachu as Ash's ace, an-
Bulbasaur: Bulba! *vine whips coleman99*
Ow, okay, okay! I do not own Pokemon, please enjoy the story.
With Reunion comes a Spark
"Goodbye, everyone!" the longtime Pokemon professor waved with a smile. "Your Pokemon are in good hands, Iris, you can come pick them up at any time! Oh, Ash and Goh, you guys stay out of trouble! Say hello to Delia for me!" He then turned around and started to walk off into his lab, leaving the Pokemon that Iris had left to play with the others outside.
"Goodbye, Professor Oak!" Ash called out while waving, "I'll be back real soon! Thanks for taking care of Pikachu, I'll be back before dark to pick him up!"
"Yeah, thank you Professor! It'll be great for my Pokemon to catch up with their old teammates!" Iris joined, waving as Oak headed inside.
The three trainers continued to wave before setting off for Delia's house, as Ash had wanted to see his mother while he was in town. He and his Pokemon would do some training of course, too, but that was for another day. Today was a day for his Pokemon to relax and have some fun!
Pikachu ran and laughed with Oshawott and Haxorus, despite the dragon's size, as they all played. Sure, he just visited Ash's other Pokemon at the lab not that long ago, but this was always a nice treat. Plus, his Unovan teammates hadn't seen Iris's Pokemon since they all left for Kanto!
Right now, they were all chasing each other and giggling, something the group had done in Unova quite often. Oshawott stopped running, turned towards the two and pulled on his cheeks while sticking out his tongue. They all had a laughing fit, and took turns making funny faces just as they had done on their train ride to Roshan City, around the time they had met Keldeo and the other Swords of Justice.
Before they started playing though, Haxorus noted with some amusement the way Oshawott nervously hesitated towards him until he realized it was the same Axew that they had all traveled with. The silly otter had remained the same in many ways while he was in Kanto, the way he was all nervous in front of a strong looking Pokemon.
It was now Haxorus's turn to make a funny face, and did his best to pull on his own cheeks, the best a fully grown dragon could manage, anyway. The three howled in laughter and continued to chase each other all around the grassy fields of Oak's lab.
Iris's other Pokemon, Emolga, Excadrill, and Dragonite were all here too, of course. Even if they all recently saw Pikachu, it would be fun to see their old Unovan teammates.
Emolga scanned the area as she searched for a place to sit and enjoy the weather. Her other teammates were either napping (namely Excadrill) or socializing with the other Pokemon. It was nice catching up with Ash's other Pokemon, as well as meeting some other new faces, but she wasn't really that close with many of them. Besides, she was tuckered out from all the hustle and bustle! Emolga glanced towards Haxorus as she paced around the field, and saw him playing with Pikachu and Oshawott, all three giggling about.
Oshawott. The squirrel sweatdropped, huffing as she thought about him. They certainly had their…moments, to put it politely, as they traveled together in Unova. We all know the tale. The two also had their previous scuffs, such as them fighting in front of that one Meloetta, Oshawott accidentally knocking her back with a Water Gun, to name a couple. But, she supposed, that was all water under the bridge, right? They were still teammates and cared for the other's well being deep down.
"Emoool…" the electric type sighed as she took a seat against the trunk of a tree and focused on the often mischievous water type. He seemed to be waving his stubby arms to Pikachu and Haxorus, which must have meant they were going their separate ways for now. She closed her eyes as the warm beams of sun hit her fur, this was nice. She couldn't help but let her mind wander back to the silly otter as she lay there resting.
Even if Oshawott had gotten the group into some trouble sometimes, there was no one quite like him that Emolga had met since, that was for sure. Yes, he could be a little flirtatious, but he was just very…enthusiastic, so to speak. And willing to put himself out there, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Still, there were many good traits that Oshawott had.
He had jumped in many times to save the day, like when those Foongus had poisoned all of them, for example. He had conquered his fear of opening his eyes underwater, and got them the required medicine, saving them all. He could summon the courage when he needed to drop the silly act, rare as that was for Oshawott. She'd heard of the time that he, along with a Feraligatr, had aided the Mewtwo and the leader of the Genesect pack that they had all met as they fell from the sky. The water types used their water attacks as well as some help with nearby Psychic Pokemon to help cushion their fall.
Now that looked quite impressive on the otter's record, helping legendary Pokemon and all. Plus, he was always a fun Pokemon to be around, as just seen when the water type was playing with his friends. Maybe just a little troublesome at times.
Emolga hadn't noticed as she was looking down at the grass, with a paw on her chin lost in thought, that a certain water type had walked up to her, once he noticed her presence, that was.
"Oshaaa!" our otter friend greeted, eyes sparkling as he waved his paw.
"Gah!"
Emolga jolted as she looked up to meet his gaze. This time though, she didn't seem to mind his presence despite the glare she shot him. It had been a long while since they've been able to talk. Softening her scowl, Emolga met him with her own greeting as Oshawott sat down beside her. And of course, in typical Oshawott fashion, he made it known that it had been too long since they'd seen each other, and that she looked rather cute, as usual. It seemed that the flirtatious Oshawott of old still remained, huh?
This, along with other little sweet nothings thrown her way, caused the electric type to giggle nervously as she again sweatdropped. Old habits die hard, she figured. Or hardly at all. She decided to accept his kind words with gratitude though, even if they were a bit sudden.
Brushing her cape, Emolga made conversation with her teammate, asking him what he had been up to. To this, Oshawott stood, puffing his chest and faced her. As he replied with some familiar cockiness, the water type spoke of how Ash had been coming over to train his newer Pokemon with them from a far away region known as Galar. He tapped his scalchop proudly when letting her know that he had gotten to train with them all, particularly a Sirfetch'd, and how he had been quite helpful when helping the Galarian bird!
Emolga rolled her eyes, some things were never going to change. But that was just how Oshawott was. Plus, better a Pokemon be overconfident than not at all, right? She smiled at him, glad that he was continuing to have fun and grow. Oshawott nodded at her, he indeed was having a great time becoming stronger, slowly but surely. Sitting back down, the otter inquired Emolga to share what she had been up to, gesturing towards Haxorus over yonder, who was having a conversation with Scraggy, one of the dragon type's best friends. It was obvious that Iris's team had all grown.
Setting aside the rose she held carefully in her paw, Emolga stood tall, her turn to be prideful as… wait what?
Just how did Oshawott manage to materialize roses out of thin air? And when did she accept the one she was holding? Emolga's face had flushed, a little embarrassed but this was classic Oshawott, wasn't it? Still though, she…didn't mind the gesture this time. The otter never let up, did he? The rose was very pretty either way, using that as justification to keep it. But why did she need to justify such things to herself anyway?
She composed herself as she filled Oshawott in as to how she and the rest of Iris's team were now Unova champions, letting a cocky smile overtake her face. Little Axew, as Oshawott had seen earlier, had grown up and had been quite the battler. While Excadrill and Dragonite were always powerhouses, Emolga herself learned how to be an expert battler and was even able to pitch in to help Iris win the title of the Unova champion. She couldn't help but smirk as she told the last part of the story.
Oshawott, wide eyed, couldn't help but stare at the apparent powerhouse before him. He knew firsthand how difficult the Unova championships were, having been defeated by Cameron's Hydreigon. He had almost taken out the stupid dragon, too…
Still, even if a little jealous, Oshawott congratulated her, taking the initiative to shake her paw, as that was no easy feat. And of course, because this is Oshawott we are talking about, took the opportunity to compliment her battling skills. Of course there was more to her than her cute looks! He chuckled, thinking himself quite clever for coming up with that one, even if it was quite cheesy in reality.
"Emol Emol…" the squirrel sighed, a subtle light pink spreading on her cheeks. She couldn't help herself as her thoughts wandered, but she really was enjoying being around him. The flirting was rather sweet, if not corny and a bit sudden, and…perhaps it was nice seeing Oshawott again, even if they hadn't been that close before.
"Haxorus! Hax!" The pair turned towards Haxorus, who seemed to be calling Emolga, waving her over. Oshawott couldn't help but sigh to himself as he looked to the ground. As much as he loved the dragon type, the two were in the middle of a conversation!
Emolga noticed his disappointment, and assured him that they could always talk later. Iris would still be in Kanto for a few days, so they'd have plenty of opportunities. This perked the otter right up and nodded happily in agreement. She flashed him a brief smile before picking up her rose and rushing off to Haxorus as Oshawott headed off for a swim in the nearby pond.
Emolga glided over to her longtime friend, rose in mouth as she landed. Haxorus sat up from the position he lay down in, happy to see his friend. It was fun catching up with everyone, but he needed a rest from all of the commotion. Confused by the rose she clutched, the much larger dragon gestured towards the plant in Emolga's mouth. The electric squirrel froze in place as she looked up to meet his gaze, and explained, almost mumbling, really, that Oshawott had gotten it for her. Again, his ability to just materialize these things could not be understated. Just how did he manage to do that?
Haxorus couldn't help himself as he sniggered. Man, he was right before, Oshawott really hadn't changed at all, had he! Almost immediately upon their arrival, the overconfident water type was up to his old tricks. Nope, nothing had changed a bit, Haxorus noted to himself.
As we'd mentioned before, yes, the two had gotten into their fair share of arguments, but that was long ago. Plus, it wasn't as if Ash and Iris didn't have their own fair share of arguments, and they always made up. It was possible to put the past behind you right? It didn't seem that the squirrel or the otter held anything against each other for it, not now at least.
The sniggering from the dragon evolved to light laughter, which Emolga didn't exactly appreciate. She turned her back on him, arms crossed, as she stood embarrassed. It wasn't like she asked the otter to resume his habits! Even if she didn't mind it this time. After all, she went out of her way to pick up the rose that she was given.
Haxorus, feeling sorry, and quieting down, patted his friend on the back. Knowing how Oshawott was, he suggested to Emolga that it was a sweet gesture from him. He pointed out that she must have finally returned the otter's feelings if she cared enough to keep the rose.
"Ga! Emolga?!"
The electric type, absolutely bewildered, could not comprehend the nonsense that he was spewing. Emolga, liking Oshawott? Now that was just ridiculous, the dragon type needed to stop being so silly. Emolga let him know as such as she pouted, laying down in the grass as she shut her eyes. Haxorus noted the red on her face, unsure of whether or not he was able to blame sun burn for the rosy tint on her cheeks. Still though, it seemed he wouldn't be able to get much more out of her about that, and decided to drop it and just enjoy her company as the two rested.
"Come on, guys!" Tracey called out, getting the attention of the crowd of Pokemon. "Lunch is ready, come and get it!" Tracey set down the bowls of food in front of Iris's Pokemon. "You guys, too! Consider it a special treat from Professor Oak and me!"
"Ah, yes, we couldn't let you guys go hungry," the Pokemon Professor beamed warmly at them. "You guys should eat up, and don't be afraid to ask for seconds!"
Emolga munched on her food as she sat next to Haxorus and Pikachu. This reminded her of old times with Ash and Cilan in Unova. It wasn't quite up to Cilan and Pansage's standard, but the food was still remarkably tasty. It was often during mealtimes like these when Oshawott would approach Emolga, when he wasn't sampling bites of Pignite's food, and began to let her know just how irresistable she was that day, or something of the like.
Emolga flinched as her thoughts drifted to the otter again. Why was she wasting her energy on him, Oshawott, of all Pokemon? Thinking about it, he could be rather sweet, even if he came off strong. That mischievous Pokemon was a complicated one, in many ways as everyone knows. She looked over at Oshawott who had just collected his food bowl. As he turned around, their gazes met, and Emolga shot a small smile his way.
Haxorus, noticing her stare, followed where Emolga's eyes were looking, and saw Oshawott, who was beginning to make his way over. He thought Emolga to be crazy for being in such denial, but who was he to say? For all he knew, maybe it really all just was embarrassment on her part. But he knew better, even if the squirrel wouldn't admit such things to herself.
"Oshawott!" The water type greeted as he plopped his food dish along with himself, next to Emolga. He turned his attention towards her, who met his gaze back, and shot a wide grin.
"Emol," the electric type greeted back politely. As she ate, she turned towards her former teammate and noticed he was staring before he turned away to begin his meal. She sweatdropped before continuing to eat, heart fluttering this time. She found herself scooting just the tiniest bit closer to the otter. She was just cold was all, it wasn't as if she wanted to be closer, don't be ridiculous. Her scooting though did not go unnoticed by her dragon type friend.
As Emolga ate, she overheard the group laugh and reminisce about the time that Team Rocket had planned to leave Iris, Ash and Cilan stranded on that ship near the end of their time together. Oshawott, striking his shell and puffing his chest, was still quite proud of himself for interfering with the troublesome group of thugs. He was the one, after all, who overheard them discussing their plans.
"Pikachu Pika! Pikapipipi!" Pikachu couldn't help but laugh, holding his stomach, at the poor water type as he pointed out that Oshawott had technically complicated things by accidentally destroying the electric lock mechanism. The otter let out a weak chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. He countered that it was the thought that counted, to which the group all laughed.
The group, along with Emolga joining in this time, all shared memories of the times that they had shared fondly, like that one time where they got to make movies together. That one boy with the Zorua loved doing that kind of thing, and invited Ash and co to help him out.
As they all finished their food, Oshawott stretched as his brain couldn't help as it began to conjure up an idea. He smiled cheekily to himself. This had to work, she was going to love this! The otter turned to face Emolga, who seemed to jolt again when he called to her. Extending a paw, he asked if she would still be here later, mentioning that he had wanted to chat.
Emolga, accepting his paw as she got herself up, said that she of course would still be here and that there would be plenty of opportunities to talk some more.
"Emol Emolga." She rolled her eyes, nodding her head. Of course she wasn't leaving yet. Oshawott cheered to himself, happily. Emolga mentioned that he could let go of her paw now, which caused the water type to yelp, not realizing he was still holding on to her tiny, but incredibly soft paw. With a sweatdrop, he stammered that he would be back later, as he scurried away to who knows where. As Haxorus went back to his nap and Pikachu going off to do his own thing, Emolga decided that she could use some more food, and glided off to some trees to see what she could find.
Emolga glided from tree to tree, because as filling as her food was, she was still quite hungry. As if on cue, her belly began to rumble as she glided in the air. No apples in sight though, it seemed, which was unfortunate, but there were always other options. She could really put it away, couldn't she? Much like Oshawott, really. She shook that thought away though, as quickly as it came.
From atop her branch that she landed on, she had a pretty fantastical view of the lab. She could see all of the other Pokemon either playing with each other as Bulbasaur and Totodile were doing, or they could be seen napping, like Excadrill and Dragonite were. She could see her royal smugness, Snivy, actually not too far away from where she was. She'd just have to avoid her, as those two hadn't actually caught up with each other yet, and with a huff, Emolga decided she would have preferred to keep it that way anyways.
Looking away from the killjoy, she peered ahead of her. Were those…?
Bingo! A little farther off in front of her, she could see some berries hanging off of some branches! Pecha Berries, they looked like. Not as delicious as an apple could be, but they were very sweet, much to Emolga's liking. She glided over to the Pecha Berry tree, snapping the twig of berries for herself, before gliding back to the rest of the Pokemon.
Now since Emolga couldn't actually fly, she would need to glide a few times to make it back to everyone. And so as she descended to the ground, she didn't seem to notice a certain grass snake until it was too late.
"Emol Emol!" She tried to warn, she finally noticing the Pokemon in her way.
Startled, the other Pokemon turned around, "Snivy!" Before she could get out of the way, it was too late.
~whack!~
As the two Pokemon rubbed their heads, they groaned in frustration. This was much like the time Emolga and Oshawott had done this same exact thing when trying to help Meloetta. The squirrel looked at the newly arrived Snivy and mumbled how it must have been difficult for some Pokemon to look at where they were going.
Not surprised at all, but still quite frustrated, the grass type shot Emolga a glare. Ohohoh, really? The little brat was seriously going to suggest that she, Emolga, was the one being careful? Snivy replied that it must have been blissful to live a life without much of a brain, her lack of a noggin must have let her weightless form glide so easily. Emolga let a few sparks loose from her cheeks, glaring coldly at the snake, who in response, waved a vine challengingly.
Emolga was already pretty close making it back to camp when she and Snivy collided, so they weren't that far away from the group. The two got some stares from some of the other Pokemon as Haxorus and Pikachu shook their heads, it seemed that Oshawott wasn't the only one who went unchanged.
It was just then that Emolga's ear twitched. Was that Oshawott's voice she heard? Was that a battle cry? And who was the other voice that she heard? It didn't sound very good. Snivy was listening in too, as she also heard a yelp. The two stopped their arguing and looked at the other, seeming to ask the same question without uttering a word. There was no doubt about it, their teammate was in trouble. Emolga set aside her Pecha Berries and got to work.
Oshawott sang to himself, tapping his scalchop on beat, proud of himself for thinking up his little plan. Emolga loved apples! Those were her favorite. Oshawott knew those would be a perfect gift for the electric type. If he could just find an apple tree, that is, gather some and ask her out…yes, this would be perfect!
The water type had looked back behind him, already covering a lot of ground and was quite far away from the group. But as long as he'd be quick, this would be no trouble. He'd be back in no time, how hard could collecting some apples be?
Well, as it turned out, pretty dang hard when none of the trees seemed to be growing any of the desired fruit. Oshawott began to speed up the process, growling lightly in frustration. This made no sense! There were always apples growing around in Oak's pasture. Why was he having such a difficult time now? Patience was not his strong suit this time, it seemed.
Of course, impatience was not his only flaw. He's made some other mistakes, like stealing food occasionally, and picking fights that he shouldn't have, but that didn't make him a bad Pokemon, did it? He had a good heart, and was just cheeky from time to time.
Much like Emolga, really. If they really wanted to, they could both go out and cause quite a bit of trouble. Oshawott chuckled at the thought, those two going out to cause some tomfoolery sounded like it would have been a lot of fun. Heheh. Maybe he could suggest that sometime.
He sighed dreamily at the thought of that sassy squirrel again. It really had been a long time since he'd seen her, the water type really enjoyed the visit so far. And if things went his way, things were only going to get better!
Oshawott waddled around some more and scanned the dark green trees. Nothing that he could see so far, and he knew not to second guess himself, as his species had stellar eyesight. They needed to if they wanted to see underwater, after all! Well, even if he never found these darned apples that he was after, at least the exercise was good for him. The breeze felt nice, too.
The water type suddenly stopped himself in his tracks, smelling the air around him. Now that was a familiar scent. Could that be what he was looking for? As the otter took a few steps closer to the colossal tree in front of him, the smell got even stronger. He looked up and couldn't resist the urge to punch the air. Yes! This was it, there was an apple tree right here!
With determination, Oshawott pulled his beloved seashell off of his tummy, and summoned a light blue, aquatic energy. He charged a throw behind his head, holding it there, focusing on a particular branch. That twig over there had 3 apples hanging off of it…if he just focused, he could cut them clean off. As the otter squinted his eyes in concentration, charged his throw back behind him, and…
Go!
He threw his Razor Shell towards the branch with the most precise aim that he could manage. Oshawott then started to dash towards the tree even before his attack made contact with the branch, so that he could collect his scalchop before it fell to the ground.
~snip!~
Success! The cocky otter beamed at himself, proud of his little accomplishment. He jumped up to collect his scalchop and placed it back on his belly. Just as he did that, he was able to catch two of the three apples in his paws. Before collecting the other one, he set the other two down to inspect this third one for bruising. Hmm, nothing. Everything looked good here! He picked up his apples and started to make his way back singing once again as he did so, until a quadrupedal purple Pokemon rushed out and blocked his path.
"Osha! Oshawott Osha?" the water type exclaimed, rather annoyed. Just who was this Pokemon, and why wouldn't he let him pass?
"Nidorino Nido!" the poison type glared at the apples, and then back at Oshawott, warning him that if he just dropped the fruit, he would let him go. This caused Oshawott to scoff. This Nidorino really had the audacity to come into Oak's pasture and demand the fruit that belonged to the Pokemon that lived here?
Setting the apples behind him near another tree, Oshawott unhooked his scalchop and waved him over. Yeah right like he would just let him take the apples he got himself! He snarled at the Poison Pin Pokemon to bring it on, and that he'd regret this.
Nidorino with a smirk, charged Oshawott with a Poison Jab, to which he was able to dodge and fired off a Razor Shell, scoring a direct hit, knocking the poison type right to the ground.
Oh, but he was far from out! The Nidorino picked himself back up and unleashed a powerful Earth Power, which caught the water type completely off guard and caused heavy damage.
Before Oshawott was able to dust himself off, he was suddenly hit by a grade A Horn Attack, which knocked him back flying. He let out a cry as his back hit a tree behind him. Once the water type hit the ground, he glanced to make sure the apples next to him were still intact. By some miracle, they weren't damaged or hit by any of the attacks. He looked back at the Nidorino, who was running towards him, charging what looked to be another Horn Attack.
Oshawott tried to pull his weight off of the ground, but couldn't manage. Just why couldn't he get up? He had suddenly felt sick after that first Horn Attack made contact. Oshawott looked up again and didn't have time, as he saw the Nidorino was just a few meters away! If he didn't move now, he was going to be hit by another one of his nasty moves.
With great effort and hoisting himself up, Oshawott fired off an Aqua Jet to move himself out of the way, he narrowly avoided the attack which caused the Nidorino to headbutt the tree, leaving him in a daze, trying to keep himself from falling. This was his chance! Oshawott needed to attack quickly.
"Oshaaa…" Oshawott charged up the best Hydro Pump that he could and aimed it at the newcomer.
"Oshawooott!"
Once he had gathered enough energy, he let loose the blast of rushing water which was able to hit the Nidorino dead on, knocking the poison type down to the ground. Yes!
Oshawott, with discomfort in his voice no thanks to this newfound sickness, asked the Nidorino what he was even doing here in the first place. After the Poison Pin Pokemon struggled off of the ground, he grumbled about how Oshawott had just come in and grabbed apples without any regard.
Shocked, the water type exclaimed that didn't even make any sense, shaking his head. This was a Pokemon Laboratory, all the fruit that grew here belonged to everyone to share!
The Nidorino looked at Oshawott in shock. This seriously wasn't the wild?
"Nido? Nidorino?"
The water type, nodding to confirm for him that this is indeed not the wild. How had he even wandered over here in the first place? It looks like Professor Oak and Tracey would need to do some investigating on their property.
Thinking to himself, the Nidorino mused that explained the other Pokemon he saw from afar in the area that usually didn't inhabit this part of Kanto. At least he assumed, he hadn't seen the majority of them before.
The otter sighed before collapsing to the ground (coincidentally, next to his apples) in exhaustion as the poison type ran away, presumably on his way out of here and back to his home into the wild.
"Pikapi!"
"Snivy!"
"Emol Emol!"
"Hax Haxorus!"
The group of Pokemon called out as they searched for their teammate. Snivy and Emolga weren't the only ones who heard Oshawott's cry earlier. They all as a group decided to go look for him, unbeknownst to the other Pokemon, as they had no idea it was as serious as it was about to become.
Picking up the scent of the water type, Pikachu rushed ahead as the other Pokemon followed. And what they saw wasn't pretty, as the sight of the nearly unconscious Oshawott, who was purple in the face, was quite unnerving.
Once they found him, they all rushed towards his aid. Oshawott opened his eyes, but couldn't quite make out who was there or even what all they were saying. His hearing was distorted and he was rather dizzy. Poison? Had one of them said something about poison?
"Emol?" The flying squirrel looked at her rival concerned, reconfirming if the grass type really thought that he was poisoned.
Pikachu nodded and sided with Snivy, mentioning that a purple hue and dizziness were some of the symptoms. The mouse looked over at Oshawott, and back at the group. What should they do? He would need help, and fast. Haxorus picked up his friend and they all made their way back to the other Pokemon, unsure of what to do. Would they need to get the professor?
Snivy, as they rushed back, turned to Emolga and raised a brow. Hadn't she gone collecting Pecha Berries earlier? The electric type's face lit up at her question, inquiring her to go on. Pikachu picked up on where this was going, causing his worry to go down and relief to wash over his face.
The grass type explained that Pecha Berries could heal poison completely, and that if they hurried, Oshawott would be just fine. Emolga beamed and breathed out a sigh of relief that she didn't know she had held in. He would be okay, she assured herself. It wasn't a long way back, and he would get some Pecha Berries in his system, and he should be fine.
Oshawott had his back laid against the tree, still in a daze from his earlier battle. Once the group had gotten back, Emolga fetched her stem of Pecha Berries (along with her rose in fear of losing it), and fed them to Oshawott with some help from the group. During his feeding, he had gone in and out of sleep, and was just conscious enough to eat the berries with the help from his friends. And thanks to Pikachu and Snivy, they had also found some Oran Berries as Haxorus and Emolga kept watch. Once they had gotten back, the group also fed the blue colored berries to Oshawott.
"Pika, Pikachu," the mouse voiced. With those berries in his system, he should be fine and they had no need to worry. The other Pokemon all let out a sigh of relief, able to enjoy the day again knowing that the troublesome otter was okay. Haxorus looked up at the flawless, clear sky, noting that it was truly a beautiful day. And now that they all knew that everything was okay, it was a day that should not be wasted!
Haxorus turned towards the group and said that, as long as they were sure that Oshawott would be okay, that he would go off on his own and see Scraggy again.
Pikachu and Snivy nodded at the dragon, confirming that it was alright. He was relieved to see the Oshawott that he had traveled with for so long would be okay. Haxorus told them to let him know if they needed anything, and wandered off.
The mouse also stated that he would be heading off, but he'd be sure to keep an eye on his friend. But he assured Emolga and Snivy that Oshawott was fine, and that once he woke up, he should be as good as new. And with that, he dashed away to socialize with the other Pokemon.
With everyone else being gone, and it just being Emolga and Snivy, the two had not wished to spend their time with each other. Snivy volunteered that she could take care of Oshawott, and that Emolga could go on her way if she'd like, knowing how the squirrel could be with responsibility. But Emolga looked at the resting otter and found that she stood still, not feeling like she wanted to move.
"E-Emolga, Emol," she uttered, letting the grass type know that the two of them would be just fine here, and that she'd call someone if they needed anything.
Snivy raised a brow but shrugged. She was sure her teammate would be fine. And if Emolga wanted to be the one to watch over Oshawott, then so be it. She didn't see how anything else could go awry. Without much of a goodbye, the snake dashed off and leapt to a tree with her vines, curling on a branch and left the two troublemakers to themselves.
"Emol Emol!" The flying squirrel noticed that Leavanny was nearby, and rushed towards him trying to flag him down, keeping her eye on Oshawott as she was away. She pointed to the water type, explaining the state in which they found him in, and voiced a request for the grass type.
"Leavan? Leav Leavanny." The overgrown caterpillar smiled sweetly as he nodded to Emolga. He walked off and let her know he'd get her request done as soon as possible.
As Emolga walked back so she could check in on Oshawott, she saw that he was already awake, looking around confused.
"Osha?" the water type looked at her questioningly. Emolga pushed him down into a laying down position lightly, suggesting that he should get some rest. With the purple hue gone, thanks to the berries, the electric type caught sight of the deep red that took over his face. Part of that was out of embarrassment of needing to be saved, but also because Emolga had pushed him down, and he wasn't about to resist.
Oshawott shot up, suddenly noticing that his apples were missing. Flustered and unable to sit still, he asked the electric type who was sitting down next to him if she happened to know if she saw his apples.
Confused, Emolga let him know that she hadn't even noticed the fruit that was apparently next to him when they found the otter. None of them had noticed she supposed, as they were taking care of their fallen teammate.
Oshawott sighed, a little disappointed. Another shade of red overtook his face when he explained that he had gotten them for her, because those were her favorite.
Emolga's heart began to flutter, but at the same time, found it quite amusing that he couldn't quit the flirty act even when he was sick. But, she thought with a smile, that was okay. She didn't mind one bit.
"Emol!" She grinned, thanking Oshawott for the gesture, even if it hadn't quite worked out, the electric type found it very thoughtful and sweet, and couldn't help but release a small giggle.
"Leav Leav Leavanny!" The bug and grass type Pokemon called out to Emolga as he arrived on the scene. He gave the leaf-like blanket that he had sewn together, at her request of course. Emolga shot him a grateful smile and nodded in appreciation. As he walked away, the electric type pulled the blanket over Oshawott after pushing him back down.
"Oshawott Osha?"
"Emol."
To answer his question, Emolga explained that she requested Leavanny to sew a blanket out of leaves. They all knew of Leavanny's fine craftsmanship, so he was just the right guy to get it done. She had a hard time meeting his gaze as she told him this though, preferring to look at the grass beneath them. When she was finally able to bring herself to meet his eyes, she noticed how they glimmered, full of admiration and gratitude. The electric type smiled at him again, before reminding the water type that he should really get some rest.
Not breaking eye contact, Oshawott had a request for Emolga. The electric type perked at this, nodding as she inquired for him to continue, unsure of where this was going. The water type asked her that as he rested, if she could lay down with him. As he held her paw earlier, he noticed how warm and comfy she felt.
Straight forward much?
Even if Emolga hadn't planned to leave his side anyway, she decided that it would be okay for the two of them to lie down. She was cold she told herself, yes, which meant she was ignoring the warm beams of sun. Please, do not get yourself confused, dear reader.
The electric type nodded at the water type, ignoring his strange observation and set her rose down beside them. Oshawott lifted the leaf-like blanket, giving Emolga room for her to lay underneath with him. Now this was weird. Emolga could have never guessed, not in a thousand years on this green Earth, that she would be this close to Oshawott.
And, for all intents and purposes, they were essentially cuddling. How...did she feel about this? To cuddle the Pokemon that had continuously sought her out on their journey. Emolga turned on her side to face the water type as she observed his resting form, noticing his paws resting upon his tummy.
Yes, he was the world's biggest flirt.
Yes, he was always getting himself into situations that often dragged other Pokemon into trouble.
And yes, he could be quite cocky and a bit of a glutton, as we all knew he'd sneak some extra food whenever he could. But did that truly make him a bad Pokemon?
She nuzzled into Oshawott's soft and fluffy white/blue neck, surprising both herself and the otter. As Emolga settled into his neck, a few loose, weak sparks from her cheeks released and settled onto Oshawott's fur, unintentionally of course. But he didn't mind, and internally gushed to himself. He loved it.
Of course not. Of course he wasn't a bad Pokemon.
"Osha."
"Emol..."
Even with his shortcomings, Oshawott was still caring and looked out for his teammates, when he was able to summon the courage. Something he had gotten better at as their time in Unova went on, slowly but surely. And, as she thought for the umpteenth time that day, the fun loving otter could be very sweet. There was never a dull moment around him, and those were all great traits to have.
And Emolga knew that she wasn't perfect herself...her bickering with Snivy would likely never end, and the electric type knew herself to be quite sassy and just as much as a trouble maker. The two of them were perfectly imperfect.
Yeah. This felt right. Thinking back, Emolga knew that she really had missed her teammates. And of course, Oshawott was a teammate, so he wasn't excluded from that group. His antics as well as his cheeriness always brought upon some fun. As she thought to herself, she felt Oshawott nuzzle back as they cuddled under the blanket. This was a good day. Some things went awry, for sure, but it seemed that the two had put the past behind them and were content with each other's presence. It had all worked out in the end.
Before drifting off, Emolga let Oshawott know that she'd have to accompany him the next time he went searching for apples, which would also give the two some time alone. The otter agreed, nuzzling into her soft black and white fur again, before the two of them had finally drifted off to sleep for naptime. Perhaps Ash and Iris could work a deal amongst themselves so they wouldn't have to go so long without seeing each other next time.
Snivy, watching afar on the tree branch she was resting on, smirked to herself. How fitting was it that two of the most troublesome Pokemon she had ever known had finally confessed their feelings for each other? She glanced over the field.
...
Yep. everything was intact. Everything was peaceful, which allowed herself to rest her eyes as she too drifted off to sleep.
She wasn't the only one who'd seen, either as the two Pokemon weren't exactly in a private part of the pasture. Having observed the aquatic otter and electric squirrel, Haxorus silently cheered for the two of them. It seemed they had figured things out. He had been good friends to both of them ever since he was an Axew, and so it made him happy to see them happy.
But of course, one more pair of eyes had witnessed the goings on between the pair of Pokemon.
"How cute!" Tracey exclaimed to himself, pulling some paper and a pencil out of his backpack, "I've just gotta…sketch it…" as he expertly drew the cuddling otter and squirrel, he mumbled to himself how he'd have to show Ash and Iris once they returned.
Okay! I have no idea how I did here. Aside from the intro and outro, that was just over 6k words. I hope you guys enjoyed that! I've not written in 2 years, so please, leave feedback. I hope that wasn't too boring, and I hope that I got Oshawott and Emolga's personalities alright. Do their personalities line up from the show?
So, as I mentioned, this story was very heavily inspired by Lyra Kamiya! Their story, Apples and Derpheads, is one of my favorites on this site. I think they nearly perfectly captured the personalities of the Pokemon, and the story itself sounds like it came from the anime itself, making it a very fun read. If that was a lost episode or something, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. Plus, I'm a sucker for Oshawott and Snivy fluff much like I am for Oshawott and Emolga fluff. I love that the Pokemon themselves didn't actually have dialogue in Lyra's story, which made it seem that much more believable. I'm not sure if I'll write much in the future, but if I do, I'll sometimes use their style of writing as inspiration for any future stories regarding the Pokemon from the anime.
Anyways! I love this pairing. I'm surprised there's not more of it around, considering it actually appeared (one sidedly, anyways) in the anime. I think there's only 2 or 3 lethal attraction shipping stories on this site ? Something like that. Also, is it just me or does anyone else feel bad for Emolga? She's usually portrayed as like this evil and malicious being, but I thought she had some nice develpment. I thought she turned out sweet, but an evil and coniving Emolga is always fun, too. XD
Please, leave a review telling me what you think! Tell me what to keep, and what aspects I should fix.
Anyways, that's it. Take care, everyone! ]
