Well there you have it, Gumball, Darwin and Anais saved the night and completely turned things around!
I thought it'd be nice for the kids to do something big for the parents, to show their appreciation and what better way to treat them than to make them a meal on their anniversary!
I made Darwin the cook as he was shown in one of the graphic novels to be a really good cook with Richard when they entered a cooking competition, so it just made sense for it to be him.
The hiding acorns idea was completely unplanned and just randomly came to me whilst I was writing out the story and I just had to include it. It's such a cute little thing for them to do, something anyone else would think was weird, but to them meant a lot.
The second image Gumball included was based on fan art by ShurikenMix which you can view here:

I had Anais play the ukulele as Gumball and Darwin both got a turn doing so in the show (The Knights/Compilation and The Internet), and I thought it was fair that she did at some point too.
I also had Darwin be the one teaching her how to play so they could also have their own thing like she and Gumball do with the study sessions.
The whole DVD scene evolved a lot. Initially, it was just the parents and kids, then the turtle got added as a funny extra bit, then I also decided to add Penny and Carrie as cute little extras as well then finally I added in Darwin's parents as I realised I'd introduced them in The Parents but then never brought them up or did anything with them after that, and this was a perfect time to do so, and I'm really happy with how the scene turned out in The End!
Gumball and Nicole touched noses because that's one of the highest forms of affection cats can give one another, so I thought them doing it would really show their bond and affection for one another.
The whole Epilogue was an afterthought I had after I'd already finished the story and I just had to include it too.
I hope you all enjoyed the story, it was really fun to write!
